Investigative News: Detailed Stories of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III; Asian Newsweek, February 2014.
Featured on the cover of its 28th issue of 2013, the Phoenix Weekly published 10 pages of contents directly aimed at H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The long writings carried out vicious slandering in an attempt to declare H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as a swindler using the name of religion and that the organizations and disciples following Him are accomplices in the alleged fraud of religion. At the same time, www.ifeng.com, a website affiliated with the same news media group as the Phoenix Weekly, also published defaming articles to echo the same tone.
People who know about H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III will all dismiss and despise the slandering articles and know that they are all nonsense. However, very bad influences will be imposed on the general readers who do not know the facts. While reading, people would naturally accept the negative information transmitted by the article. Due to the circumstance of first impression, negativism would be imposed on the party being targeted by the article. Later, some of them may, through rational thinking, sense something questionable in this but most people would not take the action of seeking verification. Also, they would not imagine that such writings published with large spaces in a reputable news media like the Phoenix Weekly are totally deceiving lies.
Winston Churchill once said, “While the truth is still putting its shoes on, the lie has already run everywhere in the city.” The Phoenix Weekly is the one who is anxious to run everywhere. However, a lie is unable to pass through the process of scrutiny and verification and will eventually return to its original form. This author believes that the best way of expressing is to state the facts truthfully. People all have their own wisdom. Even if they may be misled or deceived for the time being, there will be a time when they become sober and discover the truth.
My writing will follow the sequence in the reports (the article) published in the Phoenix Weekly to carry out an analysis. In response to the views expressed by the article, I will raise reasonable doubt and provide the true facts. The contents of my writing were based on the joint effort from multiple people, who investigated and obtained the first-hand real situation about H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Therefore, we have no fear for the truth to undergo scrutiny and verification. I will analyze the contents published in the Phoenix Weekly one by one. In the end, what is right and what is wrong will become clear naturally.
I. Whom does Phoenix Weekly speak for?
Before entering the analysis of specific matters one by one, the work that needs to be done beforehand is to follow the clues and directions in the article to analyze objectively and logically to search for an answer. What was the Phoenix Weekly up to? What is its intention of doing this after all?
Under normal circumstances and from common sense, an influential news magazine such as the Phoenix Weekly should strive for truthfulness, plausibility, and objectivity when reporting such a serious topic involving religions. However, the reality in this case is just the opposite. The article was full of insulting descriptions and vocabularies of a negative nature, to lead and induce the reader to generate negative sentiment toward the target reported by the article. The whole article did not have any real evidence and offered no reasonable analysis or commentary: some issues involved facts that could be verified with only a little effort of investigation and research but no investigation was conducted; some matters had their foregone conclusions long ago that were not adapted; some facts such as H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s thirty big categories of accomplishments, true realization, and honors received all over the world that were indisputably true were deliberately written off. There was only one-sided rhetoric based on wishful thinking. Also, there was simply no interview with or any opportunity provided for the major sects and schools from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s side for explanations. There was simply not a basic process of normal news reporting. In addition, even the true identity of the author of the article, a special correspondent with the name of Wang Jialiang, was very mysterious. The name was found to be a pseudonym. An article aiming at a famous person and reporting a major event was written by an anonymous author. That is hard to perceive and difficult for people to understand.
Among all things and phenomena in the world, there is no effect that has no cause, nor is there a cause that does not lead to effect. This article published in the Phoenix Weekly has no real author and no true evidence. It deliberately and out of ulterior motives tried to destroy the reputation of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Why did the magazine do so? If it did so out of the journalist’s professional ethics of exposing the truth, the article should have a serious and earnest conception and objective and accurate contents. Also, there should be a real reporter, detailed and truthful interview records, concrete facts, and sufficient testimonies from witnesses. However, the Phoenix Weekly provided none of these in the article.
Since the magazine did not fulfill the news media’s inherent duty and responsibility on this issue and, rather, spent big spaces to publish untrue statements. Such conduct can only lead people to one conclusion: the Phoenix Weekly was serving as some person(s) or organization(s)’ voice in attacking H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Then the question is who would do this. The suspected parties could be official entities and unofficial entities.
If the party is an official entity, that means being instructed by a government. If this was done by a government, considering a government’s ability in finding and collecting all kinds of information, how come the article did not reveal detailed and truthful information and specific testimonies from witnesses? If there is an official background, witnesses who testify would act open-handedly with justifiable attitude. However, throughout this article, no convincing witnesses or information was provided. Moreover, it had confusing logic and extremely tardy wording everywhere. All it did was slandering rampantly. It simply did not possess the quality of speaking for a government. Speaking for a government has to be reasonable and legitimate, and must have rigorous narration and detailed and true evidence. Otherwise the first bad effect would be bringing damage to the trust enjoyed by the government among the public. More seriously, it can destroy the image of the government. Therefore, these two slandering articles could not possibly be produced under the instruction of a government.
Some of the people who read these articles may self-opinionatedly speculate that some government wanted to strike at H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. They truly fell into the trap of wronging the government. Regardless of whether they were thinking about the central government (of China) or the government of Hong Kong, the thinking is wrong. This is because the purpose of the article was to hide the real mastermind. The intention was to let the public perceive this as an act by a government. The goal of the article was to make an effort to create a scene that could propagate the information that the voice of attacking H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III from the Phoenix Weekly was the intention of a government.
It is piteous that the real masterminds did not do their homework right. Actually they will never be able to fulfill their goal. The reason is quite simple. This is because they belong to anti-government entities. How could they know how the government does things? All they wanted to do anyway is take the chance to deceive, since the majority of the readers would not seek verifications. Unfortunately, they made too many disclosures in the process. Without spending a big effort, the people behind this can be exposed easily.
People can all read from the internet the recent publications praising H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III from people.com.cn (affiliated with the People’s Daily), chinanews.com (affiliated with the China News Agency), and chinanews.com,cn (affiliated with the State Council of China). It is quite clear that any possibility of involvement by a government, whether the central government (of China) or the government of Hong Kong, can be eliminated.
Then, only nonofficial entities could possibly have to do with this act. With such reporting, it is simply implausible to say that the party represented by the Phoenix Weekly had no hatred toward H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Who would hate H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III this much?
From reading the article, people who might have personal grievances with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III could be the victims in the so-called case of fraud – Liu Juan and Lau Pak Hun. Then, did the article represent their views? Apparently not, as the two so-called victims in the case of fraud stated by the Phoenix Weekly both made public announcements to state that they were never defrauded (by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III). Moreover, the Phoenix Weekly did not describe this event in any detail. There was just a brief mentioning. Therefore, a cause of personal grievances could not be established either.
Then, who wanted to deny H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and His status after all? It is not an official entity, nor someone with personal grievances. Moreover, the article directly accused defrauding using the name of religion and spent a great amount of verbiage to state one opinion: the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was untrue and He did not have any status in Buddhism; all His identities including the current title of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the previous status of dharma king of esoteric Buddhism “Great Dharma King Yangwo Yeshe Norbu” were untrue. According to the report in the Phoenix Weekly, the title of the Buddha was self-conferred, and the status of dharma king was acquired with the help of two people from Taiwan.
If these two reasons could be established, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III would definitely not be accepted by people, regardless of whether He had ever done any god-forbidden deed or not. One became a great dharma king with the help of two people from Taiwan and then conferred himself with the title of the Buddha. That would be a swindler using the name of Buddhism without doubt. Then who has the qualification and ability to confirm this matter of not having any status in Buddhism? Of course this mission must be carried out by an authoritative Buddhist organization!
If H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had forged His status of Buddhism to deceive living beings, this should not be tolerated by any Buddhist organizations or religious groups upholding the true dharma of Tathagata or dharma kings, rinpoches, and eminent monks and great virtuous ones who possess realization of Buddha-dharma. Then, exposing His act of fraud would be their undeniable responsibility. They all should publicize the facts to the whole world and, in the process, use their authoritative statuses such as so-and-so temples, eminent monks, rinpoches, and religious organizations.
Then, which Buddhist organizations and famous Buddhist figures played such roles of upholding justice? What are their identities? What are their reasons for opposing or denial? Once these questions are resolved, perhaps we can have an idea about who is behind the Phoenix Weekly and whom the magazine was working for.
Within the article, the Phoenix Weekly quoted from one Buddhist organization. Its name was a “so-and-so Tibetan religious foundation” and its declared status was representative of the government in exile of Tibetan Buddhism. The foundation’s responsible person was Dawa Cairen. He “directly denounced the organization of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to be a gang of swindlers.”
The Phoenix Weekly quoted from a dharma king, whose name and identity was Dharma King Sakya. This dharma king is also a member of the standing committee of the government in exile and, when interviewed by news media in Taiwan, stated that he had never recognized “Vajradhara Buddha III.”
The Phoenix Weekly quoted from a rinpoche, who was “Tangrang Jiawa Rinpoche” of the Kumbum Monastery in Tibet. He thought that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s external appearance did not conform to the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Even His clothing and hairstyle were not right. That was why he saw problems from just looking at the photo.
The Phoenix Weekly quoted from a netizen (aka, internet user), whose name was Wu Feilong with the original name of Wu Honghai. This person had been slandering H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for a long time and, reportedly, might have some psychiatric illnesses.
There was also a defector from the system of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, called “Mr. Gao.” His identity was a so-called defrauded businessman. Actually, this person is a suspect in criminal proceedings. So altogether, there were five pieces of evidences.
It is not difficult to see that the Phoenix Weekly was quite lazy in its effort of proving H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to be a swindler. Adding everything together including a netizen, the number was only 5. That seemed to be somewhat thin. However, this should not be a problem. If the side of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had self-conferred the Buddha’s status, they would have no supporting evidence at all. Then having five pieces of evidences should be sufficient. Unfortunately, the documents of recognition, corroborating recognition, and congratulation on the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III were more than 60. This number is unfavorable to the Phoenix Weekly.
If you could not win by majority and had only these thin evidences, it is still okay if the organization and people speaking for you had weights. Among these five evidences, the biggest heavy-weights are the so-and-so Tibetan religious foundation self-claiming to be the representative of Tibetan Buddhism, and Dharma King Sakya. Though they are only two in number, their weights seem to be rather heavy. As the representative of Tibetan Buddhism and a dharma king, their identities and statuses are certainly not something ordinary!
Now finally it is the time for the important figures to appear on the stage. The true appearance and full name of this “so-and-so” Tibetan religious foundation with its responsible person being Dawa Cairen (an important member of Dalai Lama’s government in exile) is – Dalai Lama’s Tibet Religious Foundation! Having this world-famous Buddhist organization to expose a swindler of Buddhism is so reasonable and natural. Then why didn’t the Phoenix Weekly dare to mention its name publicly when quoting its statement? Rather, a substitution with “so-and-so” was used for its name. What reason made the magazine feel that mentioning the name “Dalai Lama” would cause someone to perish? People having clear eyes would know what the concern was.
Then, did Dalai Lama have any ill will with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? The answer can be found by doing some simple searches. The group of Dalai Lama began to launch attacks against H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in 2010 or earlier. This fact can be found from related records. Furthermore, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was always targeted by the group of Dalai Lama because of His status of the Buddha coming to the world! The reason is quite simple. His Holiness the Buddha came to the world and has the status of Vajradhara Buddha and the highest dharma king in the dharma realm. How could you continue to make use of the self-conferred title of representative of Tibetan Buddhism? That was truly embarrassing. Think about this, Dalai Lama’s self-conferred title of representative of Tibetan Buddhism that was declared loudly at the international stage suddenly lost its meaning of existence. Imagine what this means to him!
Once the first issue was clarified, the next matter involving Dharma King Sakya is easy to look at. He wrote his recognition (of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III) in 2006, which was published in the book (titled H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III) in 2008. As soon as the first edition was published, the publisher sent one hundred copies of the book to Sakya Trizin. Of course, copies were also sent to all rinpoches and dharma kings who wrote recognitions and congratulations. They all happily praised this occasion.
It was only until the end of 2012 when, under pressure from Dalai Lama, Dharma King Sakya personally stated that he had not recognized Vajradhara Buddha. We will explain what was right and what was wrong in this matter a little later.
Now, the two most meaningful evidences among the total of five that the Phoenix Weekly used to deny the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III traced to a same person – Dalai Lama. The mastermind hidden behind the Phoenix Weekly has now finally floated to the surface .
Speaking objectively, even if the Phoenix Weekly was the front-runner of the group of Dalai Lama, it still has the right to reveal the truth and expound the facts. Even if the author did not use his true identity, as long as the contents of the article were true, it can still be an objective report. Then, what is the truthfulness of the contents? Were there both reasoning and evidence or just lots of nonsense? Did the article conform to Dalai Lama’s group’s usual characteristics of doing everything possible for self-interest, boldly and courageously ignoring the law of cause and effect, reversing truth and fallacy, destroying morality, and telling lies to offend the precepts? I will analyze the issues one by one. Readers can see the facts clearly.
Not returning the favor is not an act out of courtesy. The title of the next section is: A Degenerated Magazine – Exposing the Hidden Secrets of the Phoenix Weekly, the Inner Details of Its Act of Falsely Framing People of Holiness and Purity.
II. A Degenerated Magazine – Exposing the Hidden Secrets of the Phoenix Weekly, the Inner Details of Its Act of Falsely Framing People of Holiness and Purity
(I) The Phoenix Weekly fabricated the lies of: The real person of this “Dorje Chang Buddha” is a swindler who escaped to the United States and is wanted for arrest in China for more than ten years.
Reasonable questioning: This sentence so firmly ruled a person as a criminal. The crime of fraud has its clear definitions and must be established after a trial by the court. One can be called as a swindler only after being tried and convicted by the court as having committed fraud. Before being sentenced, no one can be labeled as a criminal. This belongs to the basic concept of human rights. Does the Phoenix Weekly have this knowledge? I would like to ask the Phoenix Weekly, which court in which country sentenced this person for having committed the crime of fraud? Where is the verdict?
Real Facts: H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has never been prosecuted in any criminal proceeding in any court in any country, not to mention being convicted. As a matter of fact, He was not even involved in any civil litigation. INTERPOL once received an arrest warrant from a member country requesting the arrest of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. A few years later, this member country requested, on its own initiative, to withdraw this arrest warrant. The Organization of INTERPOL conducted a long-term investigation and, at the 72-th Conference of its “Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF),” withdrew this arrest warrant and the entire case. Moreover, INTERPOL issued a document of formal notice to declare clearly that no member country of INTERPOL can detain H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III also received this document at the same time. However, He never showed it to people. He is also not concerned about the rampant lies made by those swindlers.
(II) One of the titles in the Phoenix Weekly was: “Rinpoche” on the run staged a comeback. Under this title, the article introduced the procedures of listening to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the international organizations under the leadership of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the conferences of Buddhism held in Hong Kong, the total number of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples, and how H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is publicized on the internet. It stated that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has a huge influence and has many believers and worshippers in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States. “As of now, this group of swindlers wearing cassocks is conducting secret ‘dharma transmission’ on both sides (of the Taiwan Strait) and the three regions (of mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) and has almost spread throughout the whole oversea Chinese circle.”
Reasonable questioning: There are countless people who are learning Buddhism from temples, Buddhist organizations, various Buddhist sects and schools, and eminent monks and great virtuous ones throughout the world whom the Phoenix Weekly did not mention. Every year, various dharma assemblies of Buddhism are held in various forms around the world. They are numerous and in great scale. The Phoenix Weekly ignored this fact. Believers and worshippers following different temples, Buddhist organizations, various Buddhist sects and schools, and eminent monks and great virtuous ones all praise and publicize their own respected masters and leaders on the internet. The Phoenix Weekly did not dissent with that. The Phoenix Weekly accepts everything occurring in the world, but only expressed a negative attitude toward the number of believers following H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the conferences held by the International Buddhism Sangha Association, and the actions and conduct of praising and publicizing H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Why would it purposely launch such an attack? The answer was that the Phoenix Weekly regarded the organizations of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as a “group of swindlers wearing cassocks.” Then, their criticizing the group of Dalai Lama at the conference in Hong Kong last year and suing the representative of Dalai Lama’s government in exile in Taiwan would all be unjust actions.
According to the logic made up by the Phoenix Weekly, because H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is a swindler, all actions and conduct of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as well as the actions and activities of organizations and individuals following H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are actions of fraud. However, declaring H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as a swindler was just a one-sided statement made by the Phoenix Weekly. There was not any evidence to support this view of the Phoenix Weekly. Such a conclusion could not be established from the theory of logics, because the premise was false. The conclusion could not be proven as tenable using the Hetu-Vidya (Logic) theory of Buddhism either. Among the three necessary components of proposition, reason, and example, proposition is the only one existing. That means there is only a conclusion and no reasoning or example for argumentation. The conclusion was untruly constructed without any support for justification, and is just an empty frame of lies.
Real Facts: The recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are all for listening by the public. All living beings who have the opportunity to know and wish to listen can hear the dharma lessons. There is no secret “dharma transmission” in the process. The dharma lessons expounded the teaching and doctrines of Sakyamuni Buddha and all Buddhas in the three time periods, including that of Dorje Chang Buddha I. In the dharma lessons, all dharmas are expounded perfectly and in harmony with one another, linking principles as well as logics and reasoning. Believers who listened to the dharma lessons all benefited significantly.
The fact is that dharma masters, rinpoches, and eminent monks and great virtuous ones with different qualifications and backgrounds are expounding the dharma all over the world. There also exist many types of media such as video recording, audio recording, books, and CDs carrying the teaching of sutras and dharma discourses everywhere. The Phoenix Weekly overlooked all these phenomena and only thought the teachings and discourses of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III were problematic. The author of the article apparently had never listened to recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, much less likely had read the public announcements from the website of the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. This person who obviously did not have any basic knowledge or practice in Buddha-dharma drew negative conclusions with full confidence against the dharma lessons expounding the true dharma of Tathagata. If not due to the fact that one who had no knowledge had no fear, doing so could only be a deliberate deformation!
Any person who has a little background in Buddha-dharma and can make a serious effort to listen to the dharma lessons and go to the internet to read the Office’s public announcements can draw a clear conclusion after just listening to a small part of the dharma lessons totaling several thousand. The comparisons between the dharma expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the teachings by other people are like that between a drop of water and a vast ocean and the height below one’s step and clouds in the sky. The difference is so huge as if they should not be mentioned at the same time. None of the so-called eminent monks and great virtuous ones could have any remote hope of catching up with His Holiness the Buddha. Moreover, they did not have the slightest resemblance to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s morality, speech, and conduct that selflessly benefit the great masses. It is even less necessary to mention that His Holiness the Buddha’s realization of Buddha-dharma truly manifested the perfect accomplishment of every dharma. Which famous figure dared to declare in public that his realization is higher than that of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? No one has come forward yet.
Since Dalai Lama’s group mentioned H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III by name to accuse Him as false and a swindler. Then you can have a contest with Him. You just need to show a higher realization than His. Since you dared to slander, why didn’t you show in person that you were superior? Coward!
I would like to say a few words to you that do not mean any insult and just state the facts. Let’s not mention just Dalai Lama, who is a false holy one faked by an ordinary person. Adding one thousand or even all the so-called great rinpoches who have the same kind of evil views together, they would not be able to match even a small drop of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s accomplishments. This is because even putting ten thousand ordinary persons together will not change their nature of an ordinary person and will not create a match to a true holy one, not to mention His Holiness the Buddha!
Let’s not mention H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s realization of Buddha-dharma and the conduct of benefiting living beings and not accepting offerings. Just consider the one percent of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s accomplishments in the Five Vidyas – carving out misty vapor in a boulder. Which person in the category of Dalai Lama and the alike can do that? Even if they all come forward, they will not be able to carve out a mist in a boulder! If you think that this is too difficult and is troubling to you, try something that is not that difficult. Just look at the artwork of colored sculpture “Enchanting Colors of Utmost Mystery” that you can see and examine every detail right in front of you. Just make one like it. That should not be regarded as giving you troubles, right? If you cannot make one by mimicking it or cannot make one that looks like it, that means you do not even have one percent of the Craftsmanship Vidya of the Five Vidyas. Then, is there any holy one from the category of Dalai Lama and the alike? Ordinary beings are all ignorant and stubborn. Could this not be true?
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s artworks of sculptures that represent a part of His Craftsmanship Vidya are exhibited in the “Treasure Hall” of a public museum of art in San Francisco – the International Art Museum of America. If you can make one by imitation or find a so-called superior expert or great master to duplicate one, I will agree that Dalai Lama is a person of true capabilities. Moreover, there are people with determination to put up a guarantee. If the person you find can duplicate, you will win the prize of 50 million dollars. By doing so, what Dalai Lama, Dawa Cairen, SaKya Trizin, and so on say would earn the trust from the public, because that would prove they are holy ones. If, on the other hand, you do not have the one percent of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s accomplishment in the Craftsmanship Vidya that is manifested by His artworks of sculptures and still insist on declaring possessing full abilities in the Five Vidyas to deceive people, then evaluate yourself and think about what you are. Then, who actually is a swindler? Are you in a position to point your fingers at H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? I don’t expect you to find an excuse to say that true holy ones are not as capable as a false holy one, the wisdom of true holy ones is not as high as that of a false holy one, or the Five Vidyas are only verbal rhetoric in Tibetan Buddhism. Do you want to make up such lies to deceive amateurs? Well, you will only have yourself embarrassed!
As a matter of fact, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never self-claimed to be a Buddha, as was alleged by the Phoenix Weekly. Instead, His Holiness the Buddha always stated that He is a humble cultivator. This statement has been published clearly in many public announcements from the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. People can see the enlightenment capacity of His Holiness the Buddha that is bright, holy, pure, and selflessly benefiting others. Moreover, the public announcements issued by the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III with the pure and unselfish purpose of benefiting the great masses also represent a standard that is hard to achieve by the contents in the websites of other dharma kings and rinpoches.
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s identity of reincarnating from an ancient Buddha was publicly recognized by all major sects of Buddhism in the world. More than 60 famous dharma kings, regent dharma kings, and great rinpoches wrote their recognitions, corroborating recognitions, and congratulations on the prestigious status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III at different times.
Among them are: the master of the Seventeenth Karmapa, Regent National Master Gyaltsab, Regent Dharma King Shamarpa, Dharma King Gongbao Dumu Quji who is the Great-Jewel Dharma King Karmapa’s master who transmitted the dharma of his personal deity to him, Dharma King Trulshik who is the master of Dalai Lama, Dharma King Taklung Tsetrul, Dharma King Chogye Trichen, Dharma King Dodrupchen Thupten Trinle Palzang who is the sole holder of Longchen Nying-thik Great Perfection, Dharma King Penor who was the third supreme leader of the Nyingma Sect, Dharma King Achuk who is the first-place holy and virtuous one in Tibet today, Dharma King Jigme Dorje who is the highest dharma king of the Jonang Sect, Dharma King Zongkang who is the master of Tangrang Jiawa, Xiazhu Qiuyang Rinpoche, Great Bodhisattva Tangtong Gyalpo who is a greatly accomplished one in the dharma of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, Dharma King Dzogchen, and others.
There are several dozens of recognitions, corroborating recognitions, and congratulations. Additionally, distinguished leading Buddhists including Venerable Elder Monk Wu Ming, Venerable Elder Monk Yi Zhao, and others also came to learn the dharma from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. His Holiness the Buddha’s coming to the world is really the good fortune of the earthly realm. Sakyamuni Buddha and all Buddhas would all praise the good luck of living beings here!
Can a weekly magazine deny and wipe out all these facts? The magazine ignored all these dozens of recognitions but chose to grab the piteously few two or three statements of denial to make a big deal. That is extremely ridiculous!
All those who deny the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are in two categories. Those who are in the first category deliberately deny this fact and engage in slandering with ulterior motives. They fear the fact that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III came to the world. People in the second category are ignorant. They apply their shallow and limited knowledge to erroneously comment on the boundlessly broad genuine Buddha-dharma. They use the mentality of an ordinary person to evaluate and judge the Buddha’s supreme realization. They do not know how tall the sky is and how thick the ground is. They are Buddhists with the manner of someone mentioned in an ancient story as adoring man-made dragons only. These Buddhists’ lack of true cultivation in Buddha-dharma resembles the situation of one who had never seen a true dragon. Then they are like the person in that story who refused to recognize a true dragon that they had seen just because the true dragon did not look like the man-made ones. Is this a problem with the truth (analogous to the true dragon in the story), or a problem with those believers who are just like that person who liked and worshiped only man-made dragons?
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has a large number of believers and followers for obvious reasons. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has perfect proficiency in both exoteric and esoteric Buddhism and perfect mastery of the Five Vidyas and manifests Buddha-dharma in reality with utmost high holy virtue and realization. The holy feats of Buddha-dharma can be seen everywhere His Holiness the Buddha has been. The accomplishments of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III have been prominently known and are all unique and at the acme of the respective fields in the world without being surpassed by anyone. That is why believers naturally join the rank of following Him. How could this be a problem?
The conferences of Buddhism held in Hong Kong by the International Buddhism Sangha Association, which is under the leadership of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, all submitted the required applications or filings ahead of time to the government and the Religious Association of China. The dharma assemblies were all in accord with the doctrine of Buddha-dharma and the law of the country. What fault could there be?
Disciples of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III uphold and practice the teaching of Tathagata, the four limitless states of mind, and the six perfect virtues. They help and benefit the great masses with compassion. They worship all Buddhas and make an effort to save and transform all living beings who are in suffering and hardship. What crime could they have committed?
Of course, among the disciples of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and even among the disciples of Sakyamuni Buddha at His time, there exist or existed some people who do not or did not listen to the Buddha’s teaching. Can such a fact be used to lay blame to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Sakyamuni Buddha?
(III) Is He a “dharma king” who scams people for money? In this section, the Phoenix Weekly mentioned a list of events: the Master Museum that the government built for H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the exhibition of His accomplishments, and the gifts and presents received; celebrities and famous figures in all walks of society came to visit the Master Museum one after another; H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was actually a temporary worker of paintings at the Baoguang Temple and was kicked out from there due to improper conduct; His statuses of dharma king was acquired with the help of two persons from Taiwan and after that these two people were recognized by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as “dharma king” and “rinpoche.” The article stated that the case of defrauding Liu Juan and Lau Pak Hun broke out in 2001 and police in the City of Shenzhen issued an arrest warrant after conducting an investigation; H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III escaped away oversea.
Reasonable questioning: Who built the Master Museum? Which of His accomplishments are not real and non-existent? If the Phoenix Weekly regarded this person as a swindler, then what methods of deception did he use to make celebrities and famous figures in all walks of society come and visit? How did these two people from Taiwan help him to acquire the title of master and dharma king? If the alleged fraud were true, then why did Liu Juan and Lau Pak Hun issue their statements afterwards to say that they had never been defrauded? When was the arrest warrant issued, and when did he “escape away” oversea? The Phoenix Weekly did not provide any answer to the above-mentioned questions that are relevant and specific to the issues. Was this because you did not investigate, or the outcome of your investigation did not agree with your expectation so you had to make up the non-existent stories to deceive the public? If you do not agree with my assertion here, state your reason to convince the public!
Real Facts:
1. The Master Museum mentioned by the Phoenix Weekly did exist. It was built using the funding from the Government of the Dayi County with the approval from the higher City’s Planning Commission. The government even erected a stone tablet at the gate for commemoration and published a book about the museum. The museum belongs to the government and was therefore owned by the people, for commending H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s magnificent accomplishments at the time. The museum exhibited H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s accomplishments in many aspects that were known at the time as well as various types of gifts and presents received from many sources in China and overseas. If H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III were a swindler, how could He receive such a high-class treatment by the government and have the highly acclaimed reputation both within China and internationally?
The fact is quite the opposite. On the day of the museum’s grand opening, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III wrote a letter to the government, stating that the museum belongs to the government and the people, He does not have the privilege to enjoy it, and therefore He asks for being forgiven for not attending the opening ceremony. What kind of selflessness, holiness, and purity was this?
Just as Sakyamuni Buddha had demonstrated in worldly dharmas His abilities of being the world’s best in both knowledge and strength before attaining Buddha-hood, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has also manifested unsurpassed prefect masteries in the Five Vidyas of worldly dharmas before His true identity of Buddha-dharma was recognized. According to the stipulation of Buddha-dharma, utmost genuine and perfect wisdom in worldly dharmas is a prerequisite to the incarnation of a Buddha or a great Holy one’s coming to the world. Without prefect accomplishments at the level of acme in the Five Vidyas of worldly dharmas, how could the qualification of incomparably superior and surpassing all sects and schools be proven?
All honors and reputations that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had before being recognized as the Buddha were either officially from the government or from the volunteered acts of unofficial persons.
The Phoenix Weekly stated that all these were manipulated by two business people from Taiwan. Then, how could the Chinese government be so incapable as to be manipulated by two business people? Additionally, why would the Buddhist organizations, government officials, famous people from all walks of society, and eminent monks and great virtuous ones coming to learn the dharma all be willingly fooled by these two people from Taiwan? The Phoenix Weekly wishfully negated the wisdom of all people and organizations involved at the time! Let me ask the Phoenix Weekly, do you know which high-level institution of the government issued the medal of “Master of Oriental Art”?
2. It has been confirmed from our investigation that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III achieved many world-class honors and accomplishments. In 1991, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was awarded the title of “Master of Oriental Art.” In 1994, during the World Poets and Culture Conference held by 48 countries and regions, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was elected as “the Distinguished International Master,” which had the honorary status of a country’s head of state, by the representatives from 5612 experts and scholars.
Additionally, the Royal Arts Academy of the United Kingdom awarded the first title of “Fellow” in its history of over two hundred years to His Holiness the Buddha. His Holiness the Buddha also received a certificate of doctoral degree. During the nine-year tenure when H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was serving at a university as a professor, the university conferred a special award to Him.
In 2010, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III received the “World Peace Prize” at the Congress of the United States. H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III also received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award for International Service and Leadership and the United States President’s Gold Medal Prize.
The day of January 19 was proclaimed to be “HIS HOLINESS DORJE CHANG BUDDHA III DAY” by the government of the Capital of the United States, Washington, DC, in an official proclamation. This was the first officially proclaimed day of Buddha in the world. At the same time, the United States Postal Service at Washington, DC issued a congratulatory first-day cover for commemorating “HIS HOLINESS DORJE CHANG BUDDHA III DAY.”
The large total number of and the numerously broad fields involved by the accomplishments of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is unmatched by any other person in the human world. The thirty big categories of accomplishments by His Holiness the Buddha are more than a very thick book could contain. How could they be described clearly by this author who is an ordinary person? However, in order to let readers who have not had the chance of reading the book have some preliminary understanding first, I did all I could to provide a summary in the following:
His classical poetry and songs revealed the historic Tang rhyme and Song framework; His essays and writings embody deep and profound scholarly cultivation; the paintings and stone seals made by Him are hard to acquire at any price; the Buddha statue and architecture He designed are extremely beautiful and elegant; the Yun sculpture with mist hidden inside manifested His accomplishment at the acme of the Craftsmanship Vidya; examples of His achievements in the Medicine Vidya are countlessly numerous; there is no incurable disease from His treatment with Chinese medicine and acupuncture; defects and damages in non-sentient objects can be repaired in an instant!
His discourses expound the true dharma of Tathagata flawlessly; the speeches of His Holiness the Buddha are clear and far-reaching, leading the audience into the profound teaching with easy-to-understand introductions; His Vidya of Causality and Inner Vidya represent the utmost high holiness, as manifested by the five divisions of holy initiations including the Buddha-Bestowed Nectar Initiation; the dharma of The Supreme And Unsurpassable Mahamudra Of Liberation He teaches is the highest holy dharma in the earthly realm; among his disciples, there are countless superior persons; His supernatural powers and holy realization are unsurpassed in the world; He is the reincarnation of an ancient Buddha for living beings to rely on and follow; His accomplishments are unprecedented by any ancient virtuous ones and are unmatched in the world!
Actually, there is no way to describe completely all accomplishments by His Holiness the Buddha even after all words and vocabularies are exhausted! All these are ironclad facts. As a Buddhist disciple, who would not feel lucky and celebrate his good fortune for the karmic condition of having such an extremely holy one stationed in this world? During this dharma-ending era, having a great holy one coming to the world is an opportunity of thousands of years. We are extremely fortunate! The Phoenix Weekly and the slanders associated with it attempted to belittle such greatly capable and unselfish person as very low and inferior and tried all their means to label Him as a swindler. What were they up to?
Figure caption: Liu Juan published a publicly notarized statement in a newspaper, stating that not only H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III did not defraud her, rather, He selflessly helped her and her family members. [Photo not available]
3. Before being recognized as the reincarnation of an ancient Buddha, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had the status of “Dharma King Yangwo Yeshe Norbu” and is the Great Dharma King Vajradhara of esoteric Buddhism. This fact is widely known and can be confirmed with a very little effort of investigation.
Stating that His status of dharma king was acquired with the help of two people from Taiwan is ridiculously laughable. Can the status of a dharma king be acquired with help? As is known to people everywhere, the recognition and realization of a dharma king has demonstrable evidences. Now, the Phoenix Weekly declared it as false. What evidence do you have? Without evidence, as least you should give some explanations, such as when the status of dharma king was acquired, when he knew these two people from Taiwan, how these two people from Taiwan helped, and who conferred the status of dharma king.
The Phoenix Weekly spoke of the status of a dharma king in such an extremely frivolous and disrespectful manner. This is actually an insult to all dharma kings in the world, in addition to showing the speaker’s ignorance. Also, the article stated that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III gave the recognitions to the statuses of dharma king and rinpoche to Wu Wentou and Hsengsheng. That was a total nonsense. Both of them had their own legitimate recognitions. However, none were made by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. This fact can be found very easily from related records to prove what is true and what is false.
4. The fact in the case of defrauding Liu Juan was that there was never any fraud. This case was a deliberately framed persecution. The so-called victim in the case of fraud Liu Juan wrote a statement in person to the Middle-Level People’s Court of the City of Shenzhen, stating that the accusation of fraud was not true, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never defrauded her, and everything in the case was deliberately fabricated by some people. The process of Liu Juan’s writing the statement and getting notarization was taped by video for record. In the video recording, Liu Juan solemnly stated that she wrote her statement out of her own will and she was not threatened or influenced by external factors.
Liu Juan brought her statement to a US official for notarization and signature. It was also signed by the consul at the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles, United States. This is conclusive and valid legal evidence. Why didn’t the Phoenix Weekly report on this? The accusation of defrauding Lau Pak Hun is a similar situation. If it were true, why did the victim mentioned by the Phoenix Weekly come to the press conference to state that this was non-existent? Therefore, the Phoenix Weekly was not able to explain its own argument.
The fact was that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was invited by the well-known J. Paul Getty Museum in the United States and exited Chinese Customs with legal documents to arrive in the United States at the end of July 1998. Since then, He has never gone back to China. This fact can be found from related records. The so-called case of fraud reported by the Phoenix Weekly broke out only in April 2003. That was more than three years later. Stating that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III escaped to the United States after being prosecuted is deliberately creating confusion to mislead the public. Describing a person who was living overseas and was wrongly accused by deliberate persecution as a criminal on the run with such a trick of perpetrating a fraud, is the article reporting facts or deliberately trying to mislead the public for the purpose of revenging something?
The facts related to the deliberate persecution against H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III have been known and published long ago. The person involved in framing H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment for conspiracy to defraud by the court in Hong Kong in 2004. The accusers’ motivation stemmed from their fraud of embezzling public funds being discovered by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Because of the loss suffered, they resorted to attacking and falsely accusing H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for revenge. In September 2005, at the request of a member country, INTERPOL placed this case on file and launched an investigation against H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, which lasted more than three years. In October 2008, the conference of the INTERPOL organization made the decision to withdraw the case as well as the arrest warrant. Why didn’t the Phoenix Weekly investigate the facts and, instead, choose to make up lies from baseless assertions?
5. The Phoenix Weekly stated that the police of Guangdong Province still had the arrest warrant in effect. That can only prove that some people did persecute H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! It should be pointed out that the country had already concluded His innocence and applied to INTERPOL to withdraw the arrest warrant. Then, why should the police in Guangdong Province and the City of Shenzhen still resist the central government and embarrass the central government? Were they trying to show that the central government of China was still doing something different from what was told to INTERPOL? Were they disrespecting the central government, or trying to show that the central government’s jurisdiction did not reach them? Or, maybe they were applying the law of another place, such as that made by Dalai Lama’s government in exile.
Could it be true that actions and conduct by government institutions are all correct and legitimate? If so, there would be no need for supervision and inspection, nor would there be any reason for the law of seeking restitution from the government to exist. It is not difficult to deduce that this situation was caused by those who robbed several hundred pieces of paintings and calligraphic works from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! They had to continue to make lies to keep their illegal gains and cover up their corruptive deeds. They had used the term of “illegal income” to grab these several hundred pieces of paintings and calligraphic works created by His Holiness the Buddha. These artworks had been created by the hard work and great effort of His Holiness the Buddha since He was very young but were forcefully seized and embezzled by those corrupt thieves. What law of robbers defined these artworks to be “illegal income”? Only when the central government learns about this matter, would these people know what illegal income is.
The organizations and individuals who once framed and persecuted H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III should reflectively think back about the past and contemplate the future. His Holiness the Buddha is compassionate and does not want to pursue this matter. However, the law of cause and effect never errs. Can you be sure that no one else will pursue what you did? Clearing up the chaos and restoring the order is a matter of time. The Phoenix Weekly did not distinguish what was right and what was wrong and insisted on splashing dirty water toward H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, even if that meant violating the law and moral code. This shows their intention of making accusations in total disregard of facts! The current situation is almost completely identical to what happened when evildoers persecuted Sakyamuni Buddha! Does this belong to the conduct by an independent and responsible news media? Can such conduct be permitted by the laws in China, Hong Kong, and the United States?
6. Regarding the work of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III at the Baoguang Temple, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was sent to work at the Baoguang Temple by means of a special document issued by the Sichuan provincial government. This document also appointed other personnel to work there as well. Later, His leaving the Baoguang Temple was also effected by the government’s arrangement to have all those people leaving together and reassign work for all of them. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was assigned to work at a cultural center. Moreover, why should the job of a worker of paintings be so discriminated against by the Phoenix Weekly? If one has already achieved the utmost high state in painting skills, it is up to you to call him a worker of paintings or a master. However, would the title damage this utmost high state?
In addition, the Phoenix Weekly unscrupulously used all means to try to pour dirty water toward H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. It even claimed that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was at the level of an elementary-school student. Could an elementary-school student compose classical poetry and songs? Could an elementary-school student write those academic writings, philosophical sayings, and classical works of prose? People did not know that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III studied both ancient Chinese and the modern Chinese language since His childhood. He published a book of classical poetry in His youth. The book’s name on the cover was inscribed by the then deputy head of the department of propaganda of Sichuan Province Chen Wen. The then party secretary of Sichuan Province Yang Chao wrote an inscription of “Genius in the Field of Art” for him. The then defense minister of the nation Zhang Aiping and others also write inscriptions to praise Him as a genius.
Mr. Wu Zhangshu, a famous poet and calligrapher of China and the then head of China’s Newspaper of Calligraphy and head of the cultural and history center of Hubei Province, had a discussion with the young H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III involving both history and the modern time. Upon reading the novel “Visiting the Ancient Site the Revered Yang Once Dwelt” written with ancient Chinese, and essays and commentaries of “In My Opinion”, “Knowing the Self and Establishing One’s Character”, “Journey of Art”, and others by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, great admiration arose in him. He proclaimed with great surprise, “A world-astonishing genius has arrived.” He then wrote a couplet for praise, “He must be Wang Mojie (note: a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty and a Buddhist) in a past lifetime. That is why he is free of mundane opinions and manifests the root of wisdom.” At that time, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was already a literary giant of the time.
Without such a background, how could He earn a doctoral degree? And, how could He serve as a professor for nine years at a state university in the United States, be highly praised by the president and dean of the university, and receive an award from the university? Of course, the Phoenix Weekly never saw the paystubs of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III at that time.
You should try to provide decorative covers to create a master and get the chairperson of the International Olympic Committee to sign that master’s certificate! It is a foregone conclusion that you will not be able to find anyone in the entire world who has the true capabilities to deserve a certificate issued by the chairperson of the International Olympic Committee. You even insulted a university professor and Fellow as one who has a low level of education. Let me just mention the three articles of “Visiting the Ancient Site the Revered Yang Once Dwelt” written with ancient Chinese, and essays and commentaries of “In My Opinion”, and “Journey of Art” and ask the Editor-in-Chief of the Phoenix Weekly. Do you have such writings that connect ancient and modern times, reveal abundant talent, and embody learn in all subjects? Even if I overestimate you editor-in-chief as a Ph. D. in literature, can you be in a position to be remotely comparable to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? I will not ask you to achieve the other world-astounding accomplishments created by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, because you are obviously too much behind.
This author is not capable of presenting in this article the extremely superior painting skills of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. However, anyone can get a basic understanding just from the selling prices of over ten million dollars each. Here, I would like to quote a few poems that I especially enjoyed to present to readers. Ancient people said that one declares his aspiration in his poems and one’s writing resembles the person. Then, could one who wrote his works with the characteristics of setting high and far aspirations, ejecting the powerful air of oscillating the universe, embodying graceful elegance, and also hinting at the ultimate truth of Buddha-dharma be at the level of an elementary-school student, as depicted by the Phoenix Weekly?
At the age of 16, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III wrote this ci-styled poetry to the tune of “Nian Nu Jiao”:
“At the time of entering this world between the Earth and heavens in the great chiliocosm, tens of thousands of mountains and hillocks stand majestically like ramparts of different heights and sizes. No matter how shining and splendid the hundreds of kinds of distinguished and admirable vestiges in history once were, eventually they all became entertaining stories for later generations. Golden and red clouds signal the arrival of dawn. Sounds of the morning bell urge the waning Moon’s descent. The trace of the earthly world unfolds continuously as time runs. The bustling lives of living beings just elapse without notice like vanishing smoke and melting snow!
Recalling the past years of Wan Ko, I practiced expertly scholarly works, martial arts and cultivation, with accomplishments loud and clear like the rock-breaking lion roar. Three thousand patients suffering from illnesses and diseases came to my door for treatment. I applied traditional Chinese medicine and other treatment in all possible ways to them day and night. Millions of thoughts flow smoothly along the path of prajna, making powerful impact in the Three Spheres. My wish is that all my deeds in the entire lifetime will serve sentient beings to eliminate their misfortunes and bring benefits to them.”
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III toured and climbed the Huangshan Mountain when He was 21. At the scene, He lamented that the poem of “Looking at the Mountain” by Du Fu (a historic poet who lived in the Tang Dynasty) was truly an incomparable poem of the time. Thus, His Holiness the Buddha composed and recited the following poem titled “Contemplating While Viewing the Mountains” to the format and to the rhyme of Du Fu’s:
“Is Mount Tai like what I see here? The Five Mountains (note: Mount Tai is one of the five most famous mountains in China) are not nearly what they were depicted in poems. At this time the Moon above the mountain is greeting the splendid sunrise glow, the entire region of Qi and Lu territories is clearly in view.
Lofty mettle is intoxicating to contemplation. A roc flying in the clouds shows the size of crows by comparison. After climbing high to reach the Jade Emperor Peak, the surrounding mountains are all small in view.”
This poem expressed the author’s sense and feeling in an extremely fine and wondrous way. However, the reason for using the same format and the same rhyme as Du Fu was not given yet. Thus, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III made another poem of “Borrowing Your Tune”:
“I humbly took the same format and rhyme of the associate minister of the labor department (note: this was a position that Du Fu once served in the Tang Dynasty). Poems depict activities in the human world. How many times did people see that an ultimate and topmost work gets matched? My grin now indicates the dense and mutual feelings between the two.”
After reading, I clapped my hands due to surprise. The writing of “How many times did people see that an ultimate and topmost work gets matched? My grin now indicates the dense and mutual feelings between the two” is so great! This poem is highly elegant and revealed the abundant and splendid talent of the author. Additionally, the reason for adapting Du Fu’s format and rhyme was casually given, revealing the admiration toward to the historic poet due to a common interest!
Looking at the current world of literature, who has the comparable accomplishments as that of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in the fields of poetry and song, writing and literature, and history and traditions? How could these accomplishments be achieved from just studying a doctoral degree in a university? It is just like what His poem said, “After climbing high to reach the Jade Emperor Peak, the surrounding mountains are all small in view.”
(IV) Was the status of “Buddha” acquired by deception? The Phoenix Weekly listed statements from two persons who made their denial against the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Tangrang Jiawa Rinpoche said that he did not feel right from the first sight because H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s external appearance did not conform to the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. That was why he saw problems from looking at the photo. Dharma King Sakya denied that he had ever made the recognition, stating that the document of recognition had been forged by Dharma King Sakya’s disciple Chucheng Qupei. Therefore, the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was self-conferred.
Reasonable questioning: The book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was published in the world in 2008. It quoted recognitions, corroborating recognitions, and congratulations from several dozens of well-known dharma kings and rinpoches. Had the Phoenix Weekly taken any action to investigate whether these recognitions were true or false? It would not be difficult to contact these people. Then, why did the Phoenix Weekly make just a remark of “the truthfulness is doubtful” without giving any specifics? With the doubt you had, why didn’t your reporter investigate and find out the facts? Instead, only two opinions of denial were provided.
Next, I would like to ask Tangrang Jiawa Rinpoche who held a negative opinion. Shouldn’t you apply the realization of Buddha-dharma to judge whether H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is true or not? At least you should enter into the state of concentration to contemplate and view this person, right? Do you make your decision from looking at the picture? Can the decision be made from whether this person’s external appearance, clothing, and hair style conform to the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism or not? Shouldn’t the conclusion be made from measuring whether this person has the true realization and true capabilities of a Buddha or not? Was the denial based on H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s not having the true capabilities, or because the person who gave the denial did not have the ability to do a recognition?
Then, which visage of the Buddha you saw does not have hair? For instance, Sakyamuni Buddha had dark and coiled hair all over His head. Dorje Change Buddha not only has long hair, His body is also adorned with the eight treasures. Additionally, Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and Guru Padmasambhava all have long hair that grew over their shoulders.
That means Tangrang Jiawa did not even have the basic knowledge of Buddha-dharma. Isn’t he a false rinpoche who sneaked into the rank of Buddhists? Could a true rinpoche be ignorant of what the sutras teach? Furthermore, if Tangrang Jiawa had never written a document of recognition as he claimed, what writing was he holding in his hand in the picture of his? Could he still be a cultivator, with such conduct of lying openly? No wonder it was said in society that there were many swindlers faking as rinpoches in Tibet. I have no other choice but to believe that.
Since Dharma King Zongkang of the Kumbum Monastery who is the master of Tangrang Jiawa and Mengjia Rinpoche whose status is higher than that of Tangrang Jiawa had written their corroborating recognitions to respectively congratulate and praise H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, Tangrang Jiawa’s act appeared even more ridiculous. As a no-body disciple under Dharma King Zongkang, why didn’t you weigh yourself? Are you in a position to turn the sky upside down with your effort to support Dalai Lama?
As to Dharma King Sakya Trizin’s denying that he had ever written a document of recognition for H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and his disciple Khenpo Chucheng Qupei’s open repentance admitting that he had forged Sakya Trizin’s document of recognition for H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the truth cannot be decided from one-sided statements either. I would like to ask the Phoenix Weekly. Did you meet with Dharma King Sakya Trizin in person and conduct an interview? Did you meet with Chucheng Qupei to find out how he forged the document and why he did that? Why did he first congratulate and then change his mind? Did you investigate the situation of the other side? Which witnesses stated that the document of recognition was genuine and was written by Dharma King Sakya Trizin? Who were the people testifying? What really happened?
Real Facts: On December 10, 2006, Dharma King Sakya wrote the document of recognition and gave it to Baima Dorje Rinpoche. On December, 21, 2006, Chucheng Qupei also wrote his document of recognition to congratulate (H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III). There were also other people who knew the whole process. They all testified for the truthfulness of the recognition. However, after the book of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was published in 2008, Chucheng Qupei stated that he had forged the document of recognition (from Dharma King Sakya). Thereafter, the International Buddhism Sangha Association (IBSA) issued a statement, explaining the fact that the document of recognition was true and pointing out the real cause of Chucheng Qupei’s repenting. IBSA also requested Dharma King Sakya Trizin to make a public statement if he had never made the recognition. Dharma King Sakya Trizin gave no response to that request, silently admitting the recognition by default.
In May 2012, IBSA and other organizations sued Dalai Lama’s Tibetan government in exile in Taiwan, for its slandering the group of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III with ulterior motives. During the second half of 2012, Dharma King Sakya Trizin, who was a member of the standing committee of Dalai’s government in exile, was pressured by Dalai Lama. He sent a verbal message through an intermediary to a great rinpoche of the Kadampa Sect who is a student of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The message stated his reason of being pressured and asked not to publicize the recognition he wrote. He also said that he would no longer mention this matter either, to let it cool down by itself.
Although Sakya Trizin said so, he privately stated in Taiwan denying that he had ever written the recognition. The International Buddhism Sangha Association then published the testimonies and proofs from the witnesses of this event to show that the denial from Sakya Trizin was false. In 2012, Baima Dorje Rinpoche, who was recognized by the master of Dalai Lama Dharma King Dilgo Khyentse, once again testified publicly to state that, on December 10, 2006, Dharma King Sakya Trizin wrote the document of recognition for H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and gave it to him in person. This document of recognition was delivered to the International Buddhism Sangha Association and was subsequently published in the book of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The scene of Baima Dorje Rinpoche’s writing his testimony was openly recorded by video.
Apparently, one of these two people definitely lied, either Sakya Trizin or Baima Dorje. According to the doctrine of Buddhism, a Buddhist taking an oath before the Three Jewels is the most serious matter. This is because the consequence is whether this Buddhist would attain accomplishment and liberation or become degenerated due to speaking falsely. The fact is that Baima Dorje truly took an oath for the facts he stated. On the other hand, Sakya Trizin refused to take an oath.
For proving whether the document of recognition was true or not, the International Buddhism Sangha Association wrote him a letter that was sent through the court for record to ask Sakya Trizin to join dharma masters of the IBSA at a temple to take an oath together. However, he left his place without a notice. IBSA’s dharma masters took an oath by themselves at the Buddha Hall of the temple. The scene was recorded and broadcasted by a TV station. Anyway, at this point, people who have good eyes could already see clearly. The fact is not that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III forged the recognition. Rather, it was that the side of Sakya Trizin and Dalai Lama played a farce.

Dorje Chang Buddha III to provide evidences. [Photo not available]

Whether the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was true or not was not determined from the statements made by these two persons of a dharma king and a rinpoche. For instance, several dozens of recognitions, corroborating recognitions, and congratulations were mentioned in this article already. However, all were disregarded by the Phoenix Weekly. The Phoenix Weekly was able to cover its eyes with its own hands toward the many letters of recognition written in person by the dharma kings and rinpoches to ignore these undeniable evidences. That truly made people speechless.
However, the facts left no room for doubt. The status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was not acquired through these recognitions. Rather, these recognitions were received because of His true realization. Actually, these recognitions simply do not have substantive effects. Moreover, one who had written a document of recognition and then denied having done that is not a person of morality. A document of recognition written by such a person is an insult and pollution to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III without doubt.
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “What I am is not determined from what the rinpoches said, much less from the recognitions and corroborating recognitions they wrote. It is determined from my own speech, conduct, and nature. That is why now I am still a humble one since beginning-less time. There has been no increase, nor reduction. Slandering does not pollute me. Praises and honors add no luster to me. I am nothing other than a humble servant before the great masses. Great Dharma King Thupten Trinle Palzang Dodrupchen IV, who is the sole holder of the highest dharma of Great Perfection Longchen Nying-thik, made a well-said statement, ‘Gold put in the midst of mud is still gold. Brass will still be brass no matter how it is polished. What use does recognition have?’”
Think about this fact, when Sakyamuni Buddha came to the world, who did the recognition for Him? Rather, His realization and teaching of Buddha-dharma manifest the inherently perfect enlightenment capacity of a Buddha. The accomplishments and enlightenment capacity of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are ironclad facts. Could any recognition or approval be needed from these people? The only thing the Phoenix Weekly could do was verbally mislead the general audience who were totally uninformed to start with, for the purpose of contaminating the reputation of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. However, could His Holiness the Buddha’s realization become non-existent due to the misleading? Anyone who wishes to know can find the facts at anytime and anywhere. There is nothing that the people who created this scheme of framing can do to stop that. They can only hope that, after reading the false report they provided, the general audience would conclude that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III were a swindler and would never do any investigation to verify. That is just their wishful thinking due to ignorance.

(V) The event related to the People’s Daily Overseas Edition and the World Peace Prize
The Phoenix Weekly: On July 28, 2011, Page 8 of the People’s Daily Overseas Edition published an article titled “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Has Been Truly Recognized in Accordance with the Dharma,” which was a propaganda that touted H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The People’s Daily issued an announcement on September 28, 2011 stating that someone had replaced the contents therein without authorization. Separately, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was awarded the World Peace Prize. The organization issuing the World Peace Prize is a group of international swindlers.
Reasonable questioning: I would like to ask the Phoenix Weekly: Who replaced the contents on Page 8 of the People’s Daily Overseas Edition? How did the replacement occur? Is the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III reported in the article that allegedly was the replaced contents true or not? Why was the World Peace Prize Awarding Council a group of international swindlers? How was this assertion confirmed? Which court ruled it a group of international swindlers? Which country’s law was used in that ruling?
Real Facts:
1. The People’s Daily Overseas Edition did publish an article about the recognition of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in accordance with the dharma. Two months later, it published a statement saying that someone had made an unauthorized replacement of its contents. This statement was regarded as a precious treasure by the people who engaged in the slandering acts, including the Phoenix Weekly. Since the People’s Daily is such a major newspaper, how could it wait for two months before making a statement about publishing the wrong contents?
The International Buddhism Sangha Association made the clarification that IBSA had had no involvement with this event. IBSA did not publish an advertisement for H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and had no need of making such propaganda.
The People’s Daily did not deny the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. They were not in a position of making such a denial anyway. When replying to the legal inquiries from the Buddha Voice Broadcasting Alliance, attorneys representing the People’s Daily Overseas Edition stated that they had the authority to publish the article. They did not deny (the status of His Holiness the Buddha). Whatever others did to slander the Buddha had nothing to do with them.
Isn’t the situation clear here? Did that article replace the contents in the People’s Daily Overseas Edition or published by the People’s Daily Overseas Edition? Some people can attempt to deny that the People’s Daily Overseas Edition ever published that article. However, they cannot deny the fact that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is the reincarnation of Dorje Chang Buddha. Nor can they deny all the facts about the virtue and realization of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III that have been publicly known in the world!

2. According to information in the public domain, the award ceremony of the 2010 World Peace Prize was held by the World Peace Prize Awarding Council at the Congress of the United States. The recipients of the World Peace Prize of the year were H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Hon. Benjamin A. Gilman, who is the former Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. At the same time, the World Peace Prize Roving Ambassador for Peace was awarded to the Civil Air Patrol.
Since its establishment in 1989, the World Peace Prize has been awarded to individuals contributing to the causes of world peace by settling the disputes of political, diplomatic and economic matters; and by bringing security and stability of human society. Past recipients of the “World Peace Prize” include Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States; Mahatma Gandhi, the pre-eminent political and ideological leader of India; Fidel Valdez Ramos, the 12th President of Philippine; Abdurrahman Wahid, the fourth President of Indonesia; Hosni Mubarak, Former President of Egypt; Kuniwo Makamura, Former President of Palau; Punsalmaagiin Ochirbat, Former (first) President of Mongolia; Syngman Rhee, Former (first) President of South Korea; Yitzhak Rabin, Former Prime Minister of Israel; Yakuba Gowon, Former President of Republic of Nigeria; Meles Zenawi, Former Prime Minister of Ethiopia; the Premier of Cambodia; and others.
According to the assertion made by the Phoenix Weekly, the World Peace Prize Awarding Council is a group of international swindlers. However, the fact is that this alleged group of swindlers issued the prizes at the Congress of the United States openly and under broad daylight to recipients including the former Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress and the Civil Air Patrol of the United States. By accusing this organization as a group of swindlers, did the Phoenix Weekly intend to say that the prizes awarded were false because the institution awarding the prize was a group of swindlers and, as an implication, the recipients of the prize were also swindlers? Then, did the Phoenix Weekly intend to say that the past recipients include the 40th president of the United States Ronald Reagan, the Pre-eminent political and ideological leader of India Mahatma Gandhi, and others were all swindlers? The Phoenix Weekly should clearly sort out its own logic.
I would like to ask the Phoenix Weekly: Did you inquire about the opinion of the United States Government? Did you inquire about the opinion of the Congress of the United States, where the award ceremony was held? Did you inquire about the opinion of the other recipients of this prize? And, most importantly, did you inquire about the opinion of the law of the United States? Or, could it be true that an organization, which was regarded as legitimate by the law of the United States, by the Congress of the United States, by the American public, and by the recipients of the prize it issued but was only regarded as a group of international swindlers by the Phoenix Weekly that is far away in Hong Kong, can be categorized as a group of international swindlers and that the recipients of the prize were all international swindlers? Who has the authority to determine that? Was the Phoenix Weekly ready to openly defame an organization with international reputation?
Moreover, the Senate of the 112th United States Congress passed unanimously without dissent its Resolution No. 614 on December 12, 2012 to commend the World Peace Prize and celebrate President Reagan, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, and the former Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Gilman. If the opinion of the Phoenix Weekly were to be followed, should all US Senators be regarded as swindlers, and should the US Congress be regarded as a group of swindlers?

Dorje Chang Buddha III, Dharma King Sakya Trizin gave it to Baima Dorje Rinpoche, who was recognized by and whose enthronement ceremony was held by Great Dharma King Dilgo Khyentse. This photo taken from a recorded video shows Baima Dorje Rinpoche giving testimony for this event.
3. The Phoenix Weekly also accused the International Buddhism Sangha Association, the United International World Buddhism Association Headquarters, the World Dharma Voice, and the World Buddhism Publishing LLC as lacking credibility and approval from the public. How did the Phoenix Weekly draw this conclusion?
These organizations all have their legally valid statuses. What they have done is all well documented. What actions of theirs, if anything, have violated the law or moral code or have caused loss to the harmonic development of humanity and peace in the world? What did you mean by lacking credibility and recognition? Who do not approve them and why? The Phoenix Weekly did not offer any explanation to these unavoidable questions. It only stated its assertion, without any supporting reason.
Since these organizations were incorporated legally, my real questions to the Phoenix Weekly are: Whose approval do they need from? Who wanted to supervise them and wished to have the authority of approval over them? They are all Buddhist organizations. Who would want to control them? Who is not happy about the fact that they receive guidance from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III?
Dalai Lama claimed himself as the representative of Tibetan Buddhism. I would like to raise a question using the logic of Dawa Cairen. Since others all needed recognition, who recognized Dalai Lama’s status of representing Tibetan Buddhism? What kind of representation do you do, in worldly matters, or in the essence of Buddha-dharma? Just as the International Buddhism Sangha Association pointed out, “The leading dharma king of the Gelug Sect in Anterior Tibet (Tibet’s U-region) is the Dalai Lama. The leading dharma king of the Gelug Sect in Ulterior Tibet (Tibet’s Tsang-region) is the Panchen Lama. The leader of the Gelug Sect in Mongolia is the Lcanskya Khutuktu. The highest leader of the Gelug Sect was Master Tsongkhapa. However, even Master Tsongkhapa was not the leader of the entire Tibetan Buddhism. The Dalai Lama is even further away from that status. The Dalai Lama is just the leader of the Gelug Sect in Anterior Tibet. The Religious and Cultural Division of Dalai Lama’s Tibet Government in exile is just a political organization representing Dalai Lama. It does not have the power of recognizing or not recognizing anyone. Who recognized Dalai Lama as the leader of Tibetan Buddhism? He is not a patriarch master or leader to the major sects of Tibetan Buddhism. Who recognized this government in exile? This political organization that does not have land or citizenry wants to represent all of Tibetan Buddhism. Who accepted this claim?”
The current Dalai Lama had only one document of recognition, which was written by the Regent Dharma King Reting V. No other sect gave recognition or wrote a document of recognition.
If the status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III that was evidenced by more than 60 documents of recognitions and corroborating recognitions could be denied as false and invalid by the Phoenix Weekly, the status of Dalai Lama that was supported by only one document of recognition from the Regent Dharma King of the Gelug Sect would be even further from being valid. Then what qualification does he have to deny others?
4. Now let’s look at what Dalai Lama has done. Dalai Lama is the master of Asahara Sapporo, the leader of a cult in Japan. Asahara Sapporo is the founder and the leader of Aum Shinriko in Japan. After Asahara Sapporo made donations to Dalai Lama, Dalai Lama wrote a certificate for him, certifying that Asahara Sapporo was propagating the Mahayana Buddhism. With the certificate, Asahara Sapporo received approval from the government in Japan. Since his studying with Dalai Lama, Asahara Sapporo had reversed his belief and rationale and no longer regarded criminal acts that violate the law and common sense of society as forbidden. In June 1994 and March 1995, followers of Aum Shinriko released poison gas in the City of Matsumoto and a subway station in Tokyo respectively, causing large casualties. The later event was particularly severe. More than 5,000 people were wounded.
Dalai Lama has close relations with members of the Nazis. It is public information that Dalai Lama had close contact with Nazi’s Bruno Belger, Heinrich Harrer of Austria, and Mignel Serrano of Chile. In 1994, the seven representatives from the West who recognized Dalai Lama’s independence were all members of the Nazis.
A violent attack broke out in the City of Urumqi, causing at least 197 deaths and 1721 wounded. This violent attack was incited and planned by the chairperson of the World Uyghur Congress Rabiye. Dalai Lama met with Rabiye in Hamburg of Germany in July 2007. They were very close in the photos taken. In March 2008, Rabiye announced her support for Tibet Independence in Washington, DC. Then Dalai Lama wrote a preface for her biography in return.
To achieve its goal of Tibet Independence, the group of Dalai Lama even resorted to advocating self-immolation as a way of pressuring the government. In 2012, quite a few events of self-immolation occurred in Tibet. When speaking to US reporters, Dalai Lama said, “The people who sacrificed themselves in self-immolation had their sincere motives. They did so for the sake of Buddha-dharma and people’s wellbeing. In terms of the view of Buddhism, that was positive.” Dawa Cairen, who was the chairman of the board of Dalai Lama’s Tibet Religious Foundation, stated that the doctrine of Buddhism does not permit self-immolation for the self. However, self-immolation for benefiting others is a respected and noble sentiment. He even mentioned the example of the Buddha giving up His body to feed tigers.
How could these statements possibly represent the true dharma of Tathagata? These people are really vicious devils wearing the clothing of Buddhism who fiercely harm living beings! Throughout the history of Buddhism, which Buddha or Bodhisattva was not willing to sacrifice the self for saving living beings? How could they possibly sacrifice living beings for the self? Giving up His body to feed tigers was done by the Buddha for feeding and raising living beings. There was no body of someone else to be given up! This is the difference. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas sacrifice the self to save living beings. The group of Dalai Lama sacrifices living beings to satisfy the self-interest!
To Dalai Lama and Dawa Cairen, if you think that self-immolation is a positive act of Buddhism is worthy of being praised, and belongs to the Buddha’s conduct, why didn’t you burn yourself to make the contribution to the endeavor of Buddhism and to living beings? You took advantage of living beings’ trust and devotion to you but do not have the slightest mentality of being grateful and wishing to pay back. Dalai Lama even said that they had not done enough. You drive living beings to sacrifice their innocent lives for your selfish gains. What kind cruel act is this? How many people’s opportunities of acquiring wisdom were destroyed by you! You even carry the flag of the Buddha while doing all these! What are you, if not the devil mentioned in the prophecy made by the World-Honored One before He entered nirvana?
Figure caption: Tangrang Jiawa wrote a congratulatory letter on his own initiative and held it in his had to take this photo. If he had never written a document of recognition as he claimed, what writing was he holding in his hand in the picture of his? Could he still be a cultivator, with such conduct of lying openly?
5. The Chinese government has persistently pointed out the deceptions that Dalai Lama’s group made in international society. However, the image of a persecuted religious leader that Dalai Lama always used as a disguise not only blindfolded the Chinese people including people in Tibet, but also deceived people in the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, and all countries. However, flame cannot be wrapped inside a sheet of paper. What is false will become known.
In 2011, after conducting investigations and interviews in one year in Tibet, a French scholar and writer Maxim Vivas write a book titled “Not So ‘Zen’: the Hidden Side of the Dalai Lama.” This book revealed the great differences between the Tibet as Dalai Lama described and the real situation in Tibet, and provided a multi-faceted and multi-layered perspective analysis of Dalai Lama. He pointed out that Dalai Lama was not what his smiling and tolerant appearance represented. Rather, he wore the cover of religion but his mind was filled up with aggression and hypocrisy. He talked about peace verbally but support war in reality. He advocated equality among different religious sects but actually was suppressing other sects. Vivas pointed out that Dalai Lama and his gang’s actions almost met all definitions of a cult in France. In the end, Vivas said that Dalai Lama and the people who touted and supported him were truly fierce devils.
Earlier in 2002, Victor Trimondi and Victoria Trimondi of Germany co-authored an article. They pointed out that Dalai Lama’s so-called “peaceful” images were all false and he actually was a “hypocrite.” Accusations against Dalai Lama were also made by knowledgeable people in the United States. All these came from Western countries that had previously given high approval to Dalai Lama, not from the Chinese government. The world is finding more and more about the true nature of Dalai Lama. He is a fierce devil who harms living beings under the cover of religion and using Buddhism as a flag.
On October 22, 2013, in an exclusive interview with a reporter in Rome, Italy, Mr. Zhu Weiqun, Director of the Nationality and Religious Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, pointed out that Dalai Lama is a so-called “leader” who used religion to manipulate and deceive people spiritually. He asked, “In today’s world, can you mention another example of a religious leader who advocates his followers to take part in self-immolation as religious cultivation to accomplish his own goal?” The reporter replied without thinking, “Al-Qaeda!” Yes, the gang of Dalai Lama is a terrorist organization just like Al-Qaeda. However, it disguised itself as a Buddhist leader!
6. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is the true leader of Buddhism in today’s world. At the award ceremony of the World Peace Prize, His Holiness the Buddha said, “I think receiving this prize is not an affirmation of me as a person. It is an affirmation of pursuing peace happiness, freedom, and equality by all of humanity. It is an affirmation of all people who selflessly benefit others and help others. Therefore, I will forever constantly practice my vow of aspiration:
I will bear all negative karmas and sins of living beings,
I will give all my good karmas and merit to you.”
In the recorded dharma lessons expounded by His Holiness the Buddha, We always hear how to benefit and help living beings, how to benefit others selflessly, how to attain liberation and accomplishment, and how to contribute to the peace in the world. Upholding the principle of enlightening the self as well as others and with boundlessly great compassion, His Holiness the Buddha consumes the self to save living beings! For saving living beings in this dharma-ending era, His Holiness the Buddha made the vow of not accepting offerings and only benefiting living beings! Is there another person who can rival this type of true conduct of Tathagata, and this kind of virtue of the Buddha?
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s supreme discourses on Buddha-dharma and the unimaginable realization of Buddha-dharma are clearly there. With the works of the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation, Expounding the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra, and others, the title of dharma king is well-deserved. His accomplishments in the Five Vidyas are complete and without any deficiency, as can be seen in detail from the thirty big categories in the book of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. This is unprecedented and the first in history. One of the Yun sculptures reflecting the miraculously amazing achievement in the Craftsmanship Vidya has mist hidden in a boulder. This real object is exhibited publicly at the International Art Museum of America.
Now, let me ask this question: Who is a swindler? Is one who fulfills all he says a swindler, or one who has no ability at all a swindler?
Dalai Lama claims himself to be the supreme leader of Tibetan Buddha-dharma, but actually does not have any real ability. He does not use the way of demonstrating the status of a Bodhisattva from the Five Vidyas as stated in sutras nor the realization of Buddha-dharma to win respect. Rather, he applied the deceptive means of a wandering swindler in the world. He ingratiates every country he went, tells lies to cover up his ugly and evil nature, and sacrifices other people’s lives to guard his own interest. Where is the manner of a dharma king upholding the supreme Buddha-dharma that he should have? He does not even have the solemn and virtuous appearance that represents a holy and virtuous one with true realization. He used despicable means to deceive people’s intuitive conscience. In the end, his ugly and evil mentality was exposed and he met with rejections from more and more countries to make him become a joke. That is the outcome from the law of causality in terms of Buddha-dharma.
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III received love and respect from the world due to His proven virtue and realization as well as compassion and tolerance. Even when being misunderstood and persecuted by people, He never said any complaint under any circumstance and is completely free of any hatred or anger. Moreover, He always returns good for evil toward the people persecuting Him. His Holiness the Buddha exhorts His disciples to cherish a mentality of compassion and focus on self-cultivation and benefiting others and not to get involved in matters of rights and wrongs.
When being asked about His opinion toward the Phoenix Weekly‘s act of polluting holiness and purity, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “All living beings are living in the midst of ignorance and afflictions. It is hard for them to not made mistakes. Actually it is my fault. At least I did not cause them to generate the bliss with Buddha-dharma from me. I will bear their fault. Please forgive them.”
Can Dalai Lama and his followers as well as the Phoenix Weekly and the alike have any hope of remotely catching up with such virtuous conduct? They had the intention of fishing in muddled water. Unfortunately, they do not even have the ability to stir up and make the water muddy. With such low morality and interior conduct, they are truly very piteous!
7. I would like to ask a question from the Phoenix Weekly and Dalai Lama and the people in his category. If there is a person who is capable of doing everything you know, knows what you do not know, and even knows what you have never heard of, then, is it your problem or a problem with that person’s teaching if you do not understand what he taught or what he taught does not agree with your knowledge? Would you explicitly seek his teaching or shake your head to deny: I have never heard of what you said and that is why what you said is false?
To determine what is true and what is false, you should at least be more capable than the person you are accusing or undergo the events he stated before you can comment. Speaking of morality and enduring humiliation, you are not good at that; in teaching the sutras and expounding the dharma, you are certainly unable to match; looking at true realization of Buddha-dharma, you are tens of thousand miles away; examining the perfect manifestation of the Five Vidyas in worldly dharma, you simply do not have any; in terms of the accomplishments of saving living beings, even His disciples have profound realization from cultivation and there exist so many cases of easily sending people to the World of Ultimate Bliss, reviving a dead person, and saving living beings from suffering and hardship. Why did you keep belittling the person who is better than you in all aspects? Why can’t you admit that the other party is better than you? Why did you stubbornly engage in making troubles, creating lies out of nothing, and doing all you can to damage other people’s reputation? Why did you go to the extreme in all these acts? You should first give a reason that is reasonable!
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III will always benefit living beings and broadly propagate the true dharma of Tathagata. The group of Dalai Lama is certain to harm living beings and do damage to Buddha-dharma. The two are entirely and clearly different and cannot be reconciled. Therefore, the group of Dalai Lama will definitely slander and try to frame up H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. They attempt to describe H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as a swindler using the name of religion. Actually that is the true portrayal of themselves!
8. Anyone can see the intention of Dalai Lama’s group clearly. Just as they stated in the article, the author already admitted that it was due to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s coming to the world. With His Holiness the Buddha’s fully deserved status of the leader of Buddhism in the world, various Buddhist leaders in the world would be demoted to become leaders of their specific sects under the name of Buddhism! Actually, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never acted this way. This is just some people’s own opinion. Those self-claimed Buddhist leaders were self-inflicting their worries and fears. If this leader is a dharma king who truly possesses holy realization, he or she would not be worried. Having the Buddha in the world to benefit living beings is the best thing that can happen. Those who are really afraid of “being demoted” and losing power are self-claimed Buddhist leaders who do not possess the Five Vidyas and holy realization. This is because, when a true Buddha comes to the world, people who rely on their inherited lineages to play mysteries and give order would no longer have a place to apply their abilities. This situation truly put an end to the future of those guys who make their livings from exploiting Buddhism and snatching money and properties from living beings!
In real life, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III only benefits living beings and does not accept offerings. This is unprecedented and the first in history. Looking at Dalai Lama and people in his category who live off offerings from living beings and run the business of collecting money from selling admission tickets for giving speeches, it is easy to see who is selfless and who is selfish as well as who is holy and who is worldly from this comparison.
With H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III stationed in this world, there would be no possibility for them to deceive and mislead living beings. How could the people who make their livings this way not hate His Holiness the Buddha extremely? It is quite natural for them to jump out to insult, defame, and slander. They had no other choice. Otherwise, would they be willing to follow H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to learn Buddhism and cultivate, and to learn not to accept offerings? The situation is that these people who are not holy ones and are ordinary persons instead have their very high statuses and are receiving huge benefits. They do not have the virtue to deserve their statuses. Would these greedy people be willing to give this up?
If the title of Buddhist leader and the golden sign of representative of Tibetan Buddhism get lost, how can they continue to swagger around posing as a Buddhist leader to meet with politicians and celebrities? How can they continue to slander the Chinese government using the excuse of being persecuted as a religious leader by the government? Then, how could they satisfy the needs of their patrons who supported them from behind with the purpose of breaking up China? As a result, the mercy from people’s minds, the support out of political motives, and financial aid that they currently receive would all evaporate. How could they continue the path of life in the future? Even thinking about this possibility can make them very worried. To them, only by striking H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III out, can the status of the so-called leader be kept, and can everything they have now be saved from vanishing.
Anyone who learns Buddhism knows the law of cause and effect. However, these people are ignorant to the law of cause and effect to such an extent. They do not believe in the law of cause and effect and committed violations to the law of cause and effect. They made deformations against His Holiness the Buddha and even self-claimed themselves to be Buddhist leaders! They regarded the fact that Sakyamuni Buddha entered into nirvana as their opportunity of using living beings’ ignorance to destroy His teaching. They take advantage of the Buddha’s disciples and scam people under the name of Buddhism. Do you really think the Buddha can be taken advantage of? Do you really think that no great holy ones would come to the world after the World-Honored One left? Since all living beings are family members of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will come to the world according to the karmic conditions and sustain Buddha-dharma by all means. They will subdue demons, expel the army of Mara the Evil One, defend the path of enlightenment, and guard living beings until they attain enlightenment!
9. Other defamations made in the Phoenix Weekly‘s articles were naive and ridiculous and are not worthy of a rebuttal. For instance, a slandering statement claimed that Hua Zang Si does not have Buddha statues and only worships the statue of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Such nonsense of sheer fabrication made up for deceiving uninformed people is truly not worthy of any response. Why didn’t you just go to Hua Zang Si and see whether Buddha statues are worshipped there or not? There are a tall and large statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and an extremely solemn and majestic statue of Amitabha Buddha. Additionally, there are statues of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva, Skanda Bodhisattva, and Garan Bodhisattva. All are worshipped in the temple’s Buddha halls. These statues all belong to the regular system of worshipping of Buddhism. Also, there is not even one statue of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III there. Didn’t the Phoenix Weekly feel its action of reversing black and white to insult holiness and purity is too low?
The article also tried to humiliate His Holiness the Buddha by saying He does not have hair, and to ridicule the fact that His Holiness the Buddha invented products for hair growth. I would like to ask the person who wrote this. Have you ever seen H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? If not, at least you should ask the people who did. Everyone who had the opportunity of paying respect to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in person knew that His Holiness the Buddha has a full head of dark hair. Moreover, recently and all of a sudden, His Holiness the Buddha reversed His aged appearance of bearing the suffering of living beings during the past several years to a youthful and very majestic looking Buddha.
Why did the Phoenix Weekly want to make such a lie of defying this very simple fact? I can only suspect that the person who provided such information to the Phoenix Weekly had the motive of setting up a scheme to do harm to it. The Phoenix Weekly was unlucky to the extreme.
Speaking from another angle, what does having hair or not have to do with inventing products of hair growth? Inventing products that can remove people’s suffering did not get praise and was ridiculed instead. This just shows how poisonous this person’s heart is!
10. Public opinions can exert a huge power of influence. That is why countries around the world all have laws governing the media of news reporting, including printed news, television and internet. The contents of a report must be based on facts. This is because readers quite likely have no knowledge about the contents of a report and are not experts. The general public would not do an analysis and would just be led by the report and naturally accept the report’s stance and judgment. Different ways of presenting a story can lead to totally different effects on the audience. Therefore, people in the profession of journalism must follow rigorous working styles, report objectively without including personal sentiment, and speak from facts and not from one’s own opinion.
However, the two reports published in the Phoenix Weekly this time totally disregarded the applicable stipulations of the law and went opposite to the professionalism upheld by journalists everywhere in the world. Measured by the law, it definitely violated people’s rights. In terms of journalism, it brought shame to people working in this profession. The Phoenix Weekly has already lost the basic professional ethics. It must bear all consequences and responsibilities resulted from that.
The bird named phoenix only stays on Indus trees and drinks nothing but nectar. It has high elegance and holy purity and will never want to degenerate to lower grounds! The Phoenix Weekly contaminated the name of the phoenix and should remove this word from its name. This magazine was so willing to serve as Dalai Lama’s voice; what is its attitude toward the central government of China, the government of Hong Kong, and the Congress of the United States? It does not uphold the principle of sincerity, openly abandons the doctrine of human rights, and recklessly deceives people in Hong Kong and mainland China as well as oversea Chinese everywhere in the world; what is its attitude toward the public’s wisdom? It openly slanders and falsely accuses H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III; what is its attitude toward Buddha-dharma and the law of cause and effect? It does not deserve to have phoenix in its name.
I am not an eminent monk or a great virtuous one following H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. I am just a cultivator who has studied the faith of Buddhism, the study of Buddhism, and Buddha-dharma. I read the works of some ancient patriarch masters and eminent monks and great virtuous ones in the past. Now I read the writings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the twelve sutras in Sakyamuni Buddha’s Tripitaka. People with just a little cultivation of Buddha-dharma can verify that the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III agree with the essence of twelve well-known sutras in the Tripitaka, and are the true dharma of Tathagata without doubt. Additionally, His Holiness the Buddha’s realizations are all in the world for people to see. How could these facts be negated and wiped out by those slanders?
However, they did choose to do that. Without any evidence, they produced such tirades and used an emphatic tone to openly engage in the conduct of libel. They put up a hitting pose to fool the uninformed general public. They bully against an extremely great holy one who possesses utmost high realization and selflessly endure insult without defending Himself. How can people not be furious? Moreover, the Phoenix Weekly took the side with Dalai Lama and his gang to fool the general public and uninformed readers. It deceives the people who know nothing about Buddha-dharma and the truth. This is even more unfair. With an attitude of being responsible for society, I underwent many investigations involving real witnesses and seeking real proofs and collected mounting and undeniable evidence. Now I put the facts and analysis into writing to let you all know. I am sure that readers can see clearly what is right and what is wrong.
The Phoenix Weekly will not fulfill its goal of being the voice of Dalai’s group to slander H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Rather, even more living beings will hear the Buddha name of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Even if they might temporarily have some misunderstanding, they will be inspired by the virtue, conduct, and realization of His Holiness the Buddha and eventually become clear about the true facts. They will know that the greatness, holiness, and purity of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are unmatched by anyone else. Moreover, the slandering by the Phoenix Weekly will create the karmic conditions for countless living beings to follow H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to learn Buddhism and cultivate. The world will become more auspicious and peaceful as a result. This outcome is absolutely not the purpose of those evil accusers producing the two slandering articles.
