In the year of 2012, our publishing house published the Supreme Precious Voice of Good Fortune — the Preface and the Foreword of the dharma expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra. During the period of over one year since then, our publishing house received letters from Buddhist disciples from all over the world, inquiring about when the Buddhist scripture Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra will be published.
You all should know clearly that Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra is the precious essence of the dharma treasures of Buddhism. Within the period of forty-nine years when Sakyamuni Buddha expounded Buddha-dharma in this world, He spent twenty-two years to expound prajna, the ultimate truth of liberation. The Maha-Prajna-Paramita Sutra has 600 chapters. You can imagine how important prajna is. Ignoring prajna, one will not know the fundamental principle for living beings to attain accomplishment.
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III succinctly and coherently summarized the pristine essence of Sakyamuni Buddha’s ultimate truth of prajna and the key teachings of cultivation from the Tripitaka into this book of more than 400,000 Chinese characters. Therefore, this book of Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra is the utmost treasure for abiding by the precepts, self-cultivation, dharma practice, and attaining enlightenment and is an unprecedented supreme scripture for attaining liberation and accomplishment. This book’s publication is another big milestone since Sakyamuni Buddha expounded the dharma in the history of Buddhism of several thousand years and represents living beings’ maturing karmic conditions with the dharma and reward of good fortune.
Before publishing this scripture, even correcting the typing mistakes on the computer is a very difficult problem, just as H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III told those of us at the publishing house, “Your book will have errors from typing, no matter how you proofread and correct. This fact is due to living beings’ available karmic conditions and reward of good fortune.”
Therefore, we at the publishing house had the determination of not letting typos appear. The staff members of our publishing house all worked very seriously and gingerly day and night, with great caution. We dared not to allow the slightest complacency! After proofreading multiple times, we thought that all typos were completely removed. Then, the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III called us to tell us that typos still existed in the book. Moreover, even new typos appeared and some words were lost. We immediately started checking again. Exactly as His Holiness the Buddha told us, many typos appeared and some previously correct words became wrong after proofreading and correcting!
The karmic conditions of this great event are just what His Holiness the Buddha forecasted no matter how hard we try. In order to remove all occurrences of ignorance and non-conformance with the dharma, we respectfully beseeched holy and virtuous ones and eminent monks to give their special empowerment as a group. As a result, copies of the first-publication edition of this Buddhist scripture will be stamped with a first-publishing seal that has special and wonderful empowerment qualities leading to happiness and good fortune.
This seal was empowered with the merit dedicated from chanting various sutras and mantras of exoteric and esoteric Buddhism and holy mantras by holy and virtuous ones and eminent monks as well as Buddhist disciples of the seven types for seven days and seven nights. The seal is also empowered by one of the profound great dharmas among the dharmas of “Buddha-Bestowed Nectars,” “Creating a Mandala through the Separation by a Slab of Stone,” “Fetching a Dharma Manual at the Other Side of a Mountain,” “Holy Mapeng Terma,” “Holy Bodhi Water,” and “Holy Fire Offering.” The dharma will also empower all copies of this Buddhist scripture published by the Dharma Voice Publishing, LLC. Therefore, this publication is different from the books of sutras regularly published by this publishing house.
We are grateful to the guarding and blessing by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions and the eight types of celestial beings. The Dharma Voice Publishing, LLC agreed with the International Buddhism Sangha Association on holding the First-Publication Ceremony of Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra at same time of holding the Grand Dharma Assembly of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III on March 23, 2014 in Hong Kong.
Here we make a serious special explanation. Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra is the most venerable and prestigious voice of dharma and utmost precious Buddhist scripture in the history of Buddhism. This publishing house definitely cannot set a low price for cultivators to beseech, as was done when publishing Buddhist books and scriptures earlier. Doing so is an insult to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions.
Letting people beseech at low prices caused cultivators’ desecration and disrespect. Some people thought they were doing charity and put Buddhist books at grocery stores to let people take freely. Proceeds from the copies of this Buddhist scripture issued at the first-publication ceremony will be used in Buddhist causes, such as the dharma affairs of the United International World Buddhism Association Headquarters and the International Buddhism Sangha Association, building temples, and printing Buddhist books.
Everyone who has the karmic condition of attending the Grand Dharma Assembly in Hong Kong can beseech a copy of the limited edition of the book stamped with the first-publication seal for empowerment. However, each attendee is limited for beseeching to one copy only. You will be issued the book using the receipt of online registration for attending the Grand Dharma Assembly of H.H. After the Grand Dharma Assembly, the Dharma Voice Publishing, LLC will publish the same edition of the book (large copy, hardcover, in traditional Chinese). However, the book will not be stamped with the first-publication seal. The price will be US$100 per copy. At the same time, small-copy editions will be published at the price of US$70 per copy. There are two small-copy editions in traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese respectively. However, all these editions can only be ordered after the Grand Dharma Assembly.
