SUPERNATURAL PHENOMENA: Before the Ultimate Form of Bathing the Buddha Dharma Assembly took place, His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu predicted that when the Dharma Assembly began, there would be a fierce wind and the sound of thunder. Just as predicted, as soon as the dharma was practiced at that assembly, from the clear sky suddenly came a fierce wind and the roar of thunder. This same roar is often heard at auspicious dharma assemblies as the celestial dragons make their presence known.
On another occasion, fierce hail suddenly descended only in the area where His Holiness was working. Two blocks away there was no hail. Even normally sunny southern California was covered with a blanket of ice. It was as if the heavens had opened up and we were in a middle of a river of ice. This also happened in Portland, Oregan on the Dharma Propagation Tour.
There was also an abandoned, desiccated, cracked, and extremely brittle small plum tree that had been exposed to the sun for a few months. When His Holiness was expounding the Buddha-dharma, it suddenly blossomed forth tender and beautiful red plum blossoms even though it was not the season for plums to bloom.

Disciples came to the Xuanfa Institute to finish several storage sheds and to convert the yurt to what would become a Protector Chapel. When Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche went to take photos of the chapel she again saw on the viewfinder of her video camera a bright pink column of light like the one she had seen at a stupa in Colorado and one that had been seen earlier at the sheds. When she called her students to come and look, one of the students actually saw the beam enter the dome of the chapel. The student described it as going up into the heavens as far as she could see. Later when the metal poles began shaking again, she saw the same light surround the main pole. This time there were three poles that shook. It was also reported that the floor in the center of the yurt was vibrating as well. Other students felt the earth move around the quaking poles and could see waves of energy radiating from the pole. One of the poles also started shaking when the rinpoche touched it.
Supernormal activity continued into the new year at the Xuanfa Institute. Zhuoma Rinpoche reported seeing reddish balls of light bounce through the trees next to the proposed site of a new temple and long-term retreat center at Xuanfa Institute. The rinpoche said that she had seen this phenomena several other times in various locations as dharma protectors made their presence known. On the weekend of January 15 several visitors to the Institute witnessed a beautiful and magical display as a vertical prayer flag twirled in the still night air. To their amazement, it was as if the flag was dancing on its own volition as everything else was perfectly still. Those who visited the site have expressed a strong feeling of joy and the presence of great energetic beings. They are energized by just being here. One knows that this is a holy place.
