I Finally Decided to Leave H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III
I am Shi Zheng Hui. After graduating from the Taiwan National Political University, I became a monastic at a Buddhist temple. Later I have for 18 years followed H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III at where He resides. Now I finally decided to leave H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and return to Taiwan. To say I am leaving H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, I would rather say that I have received the guarantee for being able to follow and be with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in every lifetime of mine!
I have received the teachings at the mandala of my beneficent Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, for 18 years. What I have seen, experienced, heard, and received in person during this period is like still before my eyes and amounts to so much, so much. The beneficent Buddha Master brought me into the magnificent doorstep of Buddha-dharma and enabled me to experience and comprehend in person the teachings and dharmas of Tathagatas from a true Buddha. I wrote the book Revealing the Truth. Under the empowerment and loving care of my beneficent Buddha Master, I experienced the state in person with my own ears and eyes and got what I longed for even in my dreams. Of course, I should be humble and should not say such complacent words. However, these are my heartfelt words. As a bhiksuni, how can I refrain from telling the truth?
Then, even so, I still have my elder father and mother who gave birth to me and raised me. They still have not learned Buddha-dharma as of now and are even practicing heretic ways. This fact has always been a concern in my mind. Thinking in comparison to Venerable Shariputra and Venerable Mahamaudgalyayana, as one who has attained a minor state of enlightenment, I cannot even save my own parents who are deeply in heretic ways and simply am in no position to speak of enlightening myself as well as others. How could I deserve the status of a bhiksuni!
Therefore, after deep thinking and pondering, I had the idea of going back to proselytize my parents so that they can attain the fruit of accomplishment together with me. I can apply the true Buddha-dharma that I learned to benefit my parents. However, I was also truly unable to decide to leave my beneficent Buddha Master. Thus, in December 2017, I reported to the beneficent Buddha Master what was in my mind. The beneficent Buddha Master said,
“Very good. Your going to save your parents does not mean leaving the mandala that you are currently in. Even the place you sit and meditate to practice the dharma everyday will still be with you. You will not leave by even one step. When you enter into Xianliang Samadhi, you will be before me and listening to the supreme truth. When the karmic conditions for the next step become mature, I will bestow you the transmission of an even more magnificent dharma.”
Therefore, I untied the knot in my heart and thus decided to be on my way to return to the Buddhist site in Taiwan on May 10, 2018. Whenever I think about that I will physically leave the loving, compassionate, and magnificent beneficent Buddha Master, my mood always becomes heavy. However, mimicking the vows made by venerable ones of earlier generations to save their mothers, I also made the vow to rescue and save my parents and enable them to learn the true dharma. I have to put down the mood of feeling hard to leave, since I want to proselytize my parents with the perfect outcome for them to learn the true Buddha-dharma from my beneficent Buddha Master. At the same time, I will also apply the true Buddha-dharma that I learned to benefit and help even more sentient beings in a wider range.
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III asked me, “As a monastic person, do you know what sangha is?”
I replied, “I watched in recent days a TV series about Sakyamuni Buddha produced in India. In it Sakyamuni Buddha spoke to Devadatta about taking refuge in the Three Jewels of Buddha, dharma, and sangha. The World-Honored One in the drama said, ‘The ability to awaken and become enlightened is Buddha. The way to awaken and become enlightened is dharma. Those who devote their own body and mind into it are sangha.’”
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “This movie manifested the principles of abstaining from all evils, doing all that is good, no erring from the law of cause and effect, all dharmas being equal, and living beings within the three spheres all possessing Buddha-nature. It has immeasurable merit but is too coarse. 99% of the Buddha’s experience, teachings, and dharmas and His disciples’ feats were not included. It is a TV series after all and is thus incomplete.”
I said that I felt that way too. As an example of what was missed, at the time of cremation after Sakyamuni Buddha had entered nirvana, there was just no way to start the fire. It was only after Venerable Mahakasyapa returned and paid homage to the Buddha did the fragrant wood burn by itself. Sakyamuni Buddha ignited the fire of Samadhi by Himself for the cremation without a man-made fire. Later, King Asoka ordered ghosts and deities to build 84,000 stupas to house the sariras left behind by the Buddha. That was not mentioned either. Also, the TV series did not mention at all the fact that the Mara King always opposed and tried to create troubles for the Buddha.
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “This is a TV series after all. There is no way to include so many contents. Not expressing the essence of the dharma perfectly is not surprising. It is already rather good and beneficial to all. No matter what, it advocates being kind to people and treating all dharmas equally. As a bhiksuni of the sangha, in addition to flawlessly abiding the precepts from the Buddha and acting in accord with the teachings, you must also understand the true meanings of Buddha, dharma, and sangha. I now briefly expound to you the embodied meanings of Buddha, dharma, and sangha:”
“The ability to awaken and become enlightened is the use of true emptiness, wisdom, and marvelous existence. Then, to awaken and become enlightened and also to realize the state of no coming or going and no birth or perishing is Buddha.”
“To uphold the correct understanding and views and to practice through the process of faith-vow-practice and precept-concentration-wisdom the ritual that possesses perfectly the three (preliminary, main, and concluding) practices is dharma.”
“To enter the monastic order to abandon and end the attachment to and contamination by worldly dharmas to one’s body, speech, and mind and to truly cultivate and practice in accord with the rules, teachings, and precepts from the Buddha is sangha.”
After hearing the dharma, I once again deeply realized that the dharma expounded by the beneficent Buddha Master is so explicitly precise, supreme, and subtly marvelous. After all, that is the fundamental dharma expounded by the primordial Buddha.
What I want to say in the end is that people in the world who look at me superficially will see that I am no longer physically at the mandala of the beneficent Buddha Master but they are truly wrong. I will not leave by even one step. I will always be present under the dharma throne of the beneficent Buddha Master, be with the Xianliang Samadhi of the beneficent Buddha Master, and receive in person the teachings from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III at any time. I am forever a bhiksuni disciple under the beneficent Buddha Master until realizing the supreme correct enlightenment. I will forever follow my beneficent Buddha Master H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to travel on the way of Bodhi to enlighten myself as well as others and never practice as a heretic. To say I decided to leave H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, I would rather say that I have received the guarantee for being able to follow and be with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in every lifetime of mine. This dharma joy I received is difficult to describe in words!
