“Presenting a Petition to a Bodhisattva” specifically depends on what content is written in the definition of the petition. Examples may be, is it to establish an inner-tantric mandala or to select a certain dharma by a decision? Or, is it to determine whether a certain mantra or a certain discourse is upright or evil? Then, based on the content in the definition of the petition, at least a non-receding Bodhisattva will be invited to make the decision of validation. For instance, Maitreya Bodhisattva or Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva may be invited to accept the petition. The great holy master will stand at a distance far away, with the petition which was written publicly placed on a table before the disciples. Right after the disciples have chanted “Ong Ah Hong,” the petition will transform into a rainbow and fly into the sky to disappear. Such holy state proves that the content for decision has been accepted and thus is correct. If the presented petition does not transform into a rainbow and fly away, that means the Bodhisattva does not approve and therefore did not take the petition away. That is, the yidam who is a Buddha or Bodhisattva does not accept the petition, which is incorrect or evil.
