Sunday, at the Bodhi Monastery in Monterey Park, California, the statue of the Baby Buddha emitted bright light at the traditional “Bathing of the Buddha Ceremony” after the dedication of merit from that assembly to laywoman Wang Cheng E-Fen. This light brightly shone for two and a half hours. Such a sight was very much connected with the fact that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had taught this elder laywoman the correct Dharma and she thereby attained great accomplishment.
This Buddhist ceremony is annually performed to honor the birth of Prince Siddhartha Gautama who was born in north-eastern India over 2500 years ago of the Shakya clan. The Prince, upon enlightenment, became Shakyamuni Buddha. The three large statues of Amitabha Buddha and His two attendants, Kuan Yin Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, all displayed vivid lights as well during the ceremony. This phenomenon lasted for around forty minutes. Many people attending the ceremony were able to video tape and photograph this event. However, some cameras were not able to capture this miracle.
