Proclamation from Mayor of the District of Columbia declaring January 19 to be H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Day

Mayor Vincent C. Gray of the District of Columbia proclaimed this day as “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Day.” The mayor called upon all residents of the city of Washington in the District of Columbia to join him in saluting H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for the enormous contributions that have helped enhance the lives of others. The Mayor honored the Buddha “. . . for His selfless and exceptional work to spread the word of peace to all those in His presence.” In the official proclamation, the Mayor noted that “. . . the vast number of accomplishments H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has amassed in His lifetime have helped to strengthen the foundation of a peaceful society, in not only His Holiness’s region of the world but in our beloved community as well.” The Mayor also noted that ” . . . the World Buddhist Leader, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, ceaselessly, compassionately, and without renumeration uses His wisdom, talents and moral character to help heal those who need it most.”
