Correspondence between Practitioner Du Song and Two Rinpoches

The following text is a preliminary translation on correspondence between a practitioner using the name of Du Song and Danma Zemang Rinpoche and Dharma

It follows certain Chinese forms and uses many Chinese terms and expressions that are unique to the Chinese culture, thus making a meaningful translation into English very difficult. However, because it does contain useful information that may be helpful to some who cannot read and understand it in Chinese, it is included FYI with these caveats.The discussion of the Seventeenth Karmapa Urgyen Trinley and of the Five Vidyas is very good. You may want to start at the end and read the various emails in the order they were sent instead of the chronological order given here. Practitioner Du Song,

I am very busy now and so do not have time to discuss a lot. Let’s get to the topic right now. I know you are cultivating toward enlightenment. There is no need to make circles or turns in our discussion. Since you do not mind our joke which may be over done, we are now publishing the revised lower half of the couplet. Actually it has not been revised and is just what we did on the second day from when you offered your upper half. It has a joke which may not sound good to hear. A more important reason for holding it up is to see whether there are other people who envisioned and observed your hidden mystery. Or there may be other matching lower halves with broader knowledge so we can also learn and improve. That is why we saved the original lower half until now.

Perhaps you also made a mistake of writing down a common term “Chinese herb medicine” without realizing that “Chinese herb” is also a medicine. Therefore, to this day, the matching lower halves we have seen almost all had the conclusion of having twenty four medicines. That indicates the lack of insight and discernment. You stated that we lacked insight and discernment. Actually this was exactly your oversight. In the lower half that we sent you last time, we especially added a sentence of “My prescription still has other medicines.” That refers to the “Chinese herb” in “Chinese herb medicine” which is outside your twenty four medicines. I doubt whether you knew that your own upper half has twenty five medicines.

Now you lost two more pieces of chessman in this game. One, why didn’t you realize that this phrase of “other medicines” is a hidden mystery? You lost a piece here. Second, we mentioned that “you may not correctly read the prescription for liberation and attaining heaven.” You did not catch that and did commit the mistake of not realizing that “attaining heaven”. That medicine matches your “Chinese herb.” So you lost another piece.

Now the part of the lower half that has been mentioned last time and this time. The part that was given to you last time is:
No need to wait any longer. March 8 was the plan but now I decided to give to you. Hidden subtleties have been recognized so we can communicate opinions at will. You are too terrible with a few extra meridians for boasting. A vulgar person ambitiously claims to be an honored one. The lower half is now published, as a courteous match to yours. To address whether I possess all Three Jewels, I tell you that I already have the eight virtues since the ancient time. Two cultivators are striving for compassion. March 8 was the plan but now I decided to give to you. – Three (number from the month of March) times eight (number of the day) gives me a number of twenty four. Hidden subtleties have been recognized so we can communicate opinions at will. – We easily and casually saw the mystery hidden within. You are too terrible with a few extra meridians for boasting. –You are a terrible person who lacks some tenderloin or has a few extra meridians here and there. A vulgar person ambitiously claims to be an honored one. – You are too much wild and, as just a vulgar person, want to pretend to be a holy honored one. The lower half is now published, as a courteous match to yours. – We now politely show you the lower half to match your upper half of the couplet. My prescription still has other medicines. – There are other medicines in my prescription than these mentioned already. Without knowing that, you may not correctly read the prescription for liberation and attaining heaven. – I am afraid that you may have mistakenly recognized the prescription for liberation and attaining heaven. To address whether I possess all Three Jewels, — To talk about myself, I possess the complete Three Jewels. I tell you that I already have the eight virtues since the ancient time. – Incidentally there are eight virtuous ones from ancient time. Two cultivators are striving for compassion. – We two cultivators, Zemang and Gar Tongstan, are not malicious. We have great compassion in mind and carry out charity. You just need to see the height and depth of realization! – We do not care about other thing. We just want to quest for the high and profound realization of Buddha-dharma.

The above is the part sent to you last time. The version that was written before and contains an over-done joke has a different theme and contains another hidden mystery.

No need to wait any longer. A zero is added after twenty five for you. The true name is seen labeled clearly as 250. Too bad that you missed a medicine in your count and still are not aware. The lower half is now published, as a courteous match to yours. The number of medicines you used is twenty five. The hidden mystery is in that Chinese herb is name of medicine. How can we be ridiculed and looked down by vulgar people?

Detailed explanations are:
No need to wait any longer. – Do not wait and waste more time. A zero is added after twenty five for you. – I will add a zero after twenty five and give the number to you. The true name is seen labeled clearly as 250. – This is your true name, the well-known 250 (meaning a person who is somewhat foolish in some Chinese dialect). Why so? Too bad that you missed a medicine in your count and still are not aware yourself. – You are really too terrible that you missed a medicine and did not even know that. There are not twenty four medicines in your prescription. The number should be twenty five. That is why you used “the twenty four volumes of Chinese history” to indicate twenty four medicines. However, you did not know that your upper half of the couplet actually has twenty five medicines. Then, aren’t you a 250 (fool)? The lower half is now published, as a courteous match to yours. – We now politely show you the lower half to match your upper half of the couplet. The number of medicines you used is twenty five. – This clearly tells you that you used twenty five medicines. The hidden mystery is in that Chinese herb is name of medicine. – The hidden mystery is in the two words of “Chinese herb” because Chinese herb is a name of medicine. In “The twenty one ingredients are Chinese herb medicines for curing illnesses from the Land of Medicine Buddha.” within the upper half of your couplet, “Chinese herb” is the name of a medicine. My matching response to that is “The three sevens are the prescription for liberation and attaining heaven from the Mandala of Tara.” Three sevens added together match your twenty one exactly but did not directly copy after your twenty one. Also, the number of Taras in the Mandala of Green Tara is also twenty one. The Land of Medicine Buddha refers to the mandala of Medicine Buddha (mandala means Buddha-land). The Mandala of Tara is just a mandala in Buddha-land. The wonderful usage is that the match is between mandala and mandala even though the words are different. You use “Chinese herb medicine” to cure illness. I try to liberate you with a “prescription for liberation and attaining heaven.” Having attained liberation naturally means being able to connect and reach heaven. Your “Chinese herb” is not known as the name of a medicine to most people. They tend to misunderstand it as the common medical term of Chinese herb medicine. On the other hand, “attaining heaven” in my prescription for liberation and attaining heaven is also the name of a medicine. Both terms of “Chinese herb” and “attaining heaven” are medicines. The meaning and antithesis are reasonable and neat. To address whether I possess all Three Jewels, — To talk about myself, I possess the complete Three Jewels. I correctly respond with one medicine of liberation and attaining heaven. – Your hidden mystery of “Chinese herb” was revealed by my medicine of “attaining heaven.” Two cultivators are striving for compassion. – We two cultivators, Zemang and Gar Tongstan, are not malicious. We have great compassion in mind and carry out charity. How can we be ridiculed and looked down by vulgar people? — How could we possibly be ridiculed and looked down by a ordinary and vulgar person like you?

Practitioner Du Song, to speak from the bottom of our heart, we admire you for having the courage to speak for living beings’ sake. That belongs to correct acts that are hard to encounter in this dharma-ending era. However, spending time all day on analyzing phrases and creating sentences is not an expedient way of directly attaining enlightenment. Only abiding by and acting according to the Buddha’s teaching to accomplish truly some things that can benefit living beings can avoid wasting the journey of coming to this world. How do you think? I propose that we stop here for this long couplet of voice vidya and medical prescription. Hope we can touch upon what has not been discussed when we have the chance to meet. Also hope that you can forgive us for possible impoliteness in what we said.

Attached below are the complete couplet with the upper half from Du Song and the matching lower half from us.

The nature of this medicine is defined by me and no more or less is allowed. I want you to use a pen to circle out the names. Being mica I enter the lotus house (seedpod) with areca, to form a mutually desired nice marriage. Two hundred ounces of gold (a kilogram of arborvitae seeds) is offered to guide:wolf poison (euphorbia) and angelica to change their evil reality. Look at this flying-knife sword. Light pink (calomel) color is used to make it up as an elderly youth. To keep fragrant smell (Cyperus rotundus), do not marry stinky acorus calamus. Guard against an anonymous one to meet at night (magnolia) with snow lotus (saussurea). Be careful with wood pipe (akebia) causing trouble. Governor (Rangoon creeper) was greed toward beautiful woman and got killed by ghost (ghost beads). Now I made the upper half to trouble you. You are running out of words to find a match. I want you to lower your head and respectfully call a Ganoderma lucidum from snow mountain fire charcoal mother (polygonom). The twenty one ingredients are Chinese herb medicines for curing illnesses from the Land of Medicine Buddha. You are a false holy one without wonderful wisdom. How can you respond to the couplet’s text? Only a person who is a shameless swindler would pirate the number I gave, twenty one. It is not only shameless but also a dirty act. Do not make a mistake in the number of medicines from reading the upper half text. Now I will see how you can possibly respond. If you can make a match with the correct number of Chinese herb medicines, Du Song (juniper) is willing to hold up the cup and drink the bitter wine (vinegar). I will willingly prostrate below your kneels to become a disciple. Do not hurry. You never read the twenty four volumes of Chinese history. Everything is clearly laid out for you to see but you cannot count. It is piteous that you lack some nerves. How dare an ordinary person to claim being a holy one. This is the end of the upper half. Please give your response. How many medicines did I use? Do you recognize Chinese herb medicines? There is no need to point out that you do not possess the Five Vidyas. Now it is already proven that these two vidyas are absent in you. Being an ordinary person, how vicious are you to talk about great supernormal power?

Du Song

This prescription is from you so I will not make any alteration for higher or lower. You asked me to draw lines under the counted medicines. Your heart is a centipede and has the day dream of pairing matchmaker (red snake) with general (jiangjun). Several poisons are used in a mix. You are good at disguising yourself to attract affection upon the first encounter (andrographis), to benumb (kernels of hempseeds), attach (monkshood), widely deceive (wide moxa), and kiss seductively (oncorhynchus). The hanging stick is then used to reveal the nature of wolf and fox (bupleurum), with horse urine bubble (horse uterus) still dangling. An advice is that you should (chestnut) not rape faithful women (ligustrum lucidum). A remind for taste-less fighter (fermented soybeans), you must (piperlongum) be careful (thin sencere), so as to avoid carelessly (gorgon) encountering disasters or be deluded among beautiful women (rouge), causing the loss of human life (ginseng). The lower half manifested now was easily done. My words and sentences give a good match. You should hold your palms together and kneel on the ground and pay respect to Suluo Mapo (suluo mapo), the great lord of elder brothers (liaogewang). The three sevens are the prescription for liberation and attaining heaven from the Mandala of Tara. A true cultivator possesses wisdom, composing a correct match of text. A decent virtuous noble person despises what you have and uses his own number of three times seven. That belongs to the upper-class of the giant category. Look at the precious curing prescription in the matching lower half. I came up in the exact number. The contents of the prescription are clearly explained therein. Playing zither with Buddha-hand (bergamot) divine melodies (wonderful heaven) emerge naturally. You should kneel down on the ground and call the majestic and inspiring deva (clamatis) as your father. No need to wait any longer. March 8 was the plan but now I decided to give to you. Hidden subtleties have been recognized so we can communicate opinions at will. Rinpoches Danma Zemang and Gar Tongstan, Greetings to you!

Being disciples of the Buddha, you definitely should follow the Buddha’s teaching. I mistakenly accused you due to not knowing the situation. I lost a chessman in this move. Du Song lost. I feel sorry and guilty myself.

What you said is true and to the point. So far there is not one person who has made a correct lower half. That makes me feel bad. Regardless of the respondents’ identities being dharma king, great dharma master, Geshe, Kenpo, the Buddhist Academy of the Five Vidyas, and someone from the holy place of rainbow body or with the reputation of reincarnated great Bodhisattva, all became open mouth dumb persons. Though they tried to make all kinds of gestures, their voices are ya ya hum without forming sentences. What they came up not only lacks the match but also consists of just irrelevant mixtures with total confusions. They are just naive beyond description. Is this the wisdom of great holy ones in today’s Buddhist circle? Is this the structure of nirmanakaya of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas?

It is certainly true that using the Five Vidyas as standards is too high. However, this involves only certain aspects within just two vidyas. Not even one person knew how many medicines I used. One who does not know this is truly ordinary being. That is very pitiable.

Although the matching and logics of writing of you two appear relevant and reasonable, do not perceive that you have solved the contents of the medicine. If you are not even clear on the most basic question of how many medicines I used, the only possible conclusion is that the wisdom in the aspects of medical diagnosis and voice vidya has not opened yet. What is required is the power of insight and discernment. Do you know? Without the power of insight and discernment, you will not see the hidden mystery. That is the indication of having empty theory but not power of insight and discernment. Do you know? Is that clear? You may have your crown opened but still you cannot deny this is a deficiency, right? Therefore, looking on the surface at theory and lineage is hollow. Only abilities in the power of insight and discernment are truly holy capacity.

You made a matching couplet. However, you did not observe and expose the hidden mystery. Then, can you be examples of and depended on by living beings? Do living beings just learn the lack of the power of insight and discernment from you? At such a level, how different are you from the dharma kings who hold the big banner of lineage but have only hollow theory?

Let me make it clear one more time. I am just commenting on you. On the other hand, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III who is utmost supreme and uniquely possesses the complete and perfect five vidyas at the highest acme is always the Buddha to Du Song me during the three periods of the day. I will completely follow and rely on him through the endless eons in the future.

The match couplet of yours can conclude that you are somewhat better than those great dharma kings occupying temples. Unfortunately, you spoke before enough thinking. What made you think that I am not a disciple of the Buddha?

I am not in a position to give you a discourse but at least I can give you a hint. Let me ask you. Where does H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III live? What place does not have a Buddha? If I am not a disciple of the Buddha, whose disciple am I?

Haven’t you heard that Sun Wukong can never jump out of the palm of the Tathagata Buddha? That refers to the empty, vast, and clean dharma sphere. A Buddha is present everywhere. The realm of Buddha-dharma is boundless. There is no place that the Buddha’s palm cannot reach. Where I am is just where the Buddha is. How can there is any difference in term of distance? We also heard that dharmakaya is boundless and is present everywhere. The key is to practice and cultivate according to Buddha’s dharma. That is practicing and abiding by the Buddha’s teaching.

I tell you clearly. Though Du Song is not talented and is slow to understand, I pay four prostrations to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, Shakyamuni Buddha and all Buddhas in the ten directions. I never stop in a day contemplating and pondering. You now can see that my writing has decayed inside and out. Do I count as a disciple of the Buddha? Am I a disciple of the Buddha? How could I possibly challenge great dharma kings with little holy content if mine is not several times larger, not to mention you Zemang and Gar Tongstan who are close disciples of my master? Our fundamental master Shakyamuni Buddha’s teaching in this world to relieve living beings from bitterness and misfortune is nothing other than propagate and expound the true dharma and the noble truth to benefit all beings. What I do now is the same. So long as I can benefit living beings, what is wrong with being a wandering gallant person showing strength in public and taming demons?

I have pondered several times. I have few talents, lack guidance and do not have good qualification. So I am not in a position to quest for the great dharma of attaining holiness in two hours. However, I believe that as long as I conduct according to the teaching, make progress on the right path, and propagate the true dharma. Becoming a disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is never a question. The causation will naturally mature. When the time is right, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III will summon me. There is no doubt I will become a person of great responsibility and receive the two-hour dharma. That is not something that only you can learn and take advantage of. Virtuous Zemang, do you agree? I don’t think it is time to meet you yet. Even if I go to your headquarter, the purpose will be paying respect to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

Since you already prepared your couplet, please send over to enlighten me on what is “the difference in medicines.” I am not as bad as you described that a few over-done sentences can add affliction to me. We are debating in languages, what is a problem with a little over-done? Du Song I am not a prime minister (meaning someone with great magnanimity). At least my magnanimity is greater than the holy and high you.

I am a little worried that we may have caused misunderstanding in some people that can possibly cut off and destroy their good roots. However, after contemplation, I still have to go along with the transmigrating environment. I tell you frankly and honestly from the bottom of my heart. Assuming you do not understand the situation, I can only say that you raised a good point and we violated the first article of the Fourteen Fundamental Precepts of Esoteric Buddhism. However, if you are clearly aware of the situation, your comment may not be a good one. First, I thank you for your help. However, you should know that, since we are learning Buddhism and cultivating ourselves, we naturally will abide by the instructions of Buddha-dharma from the Buddha to correct our speech and actions.

When the gimmick article of self promotion appeared on the official web site of Urgyen Trinley, within a few days, we selected over two hundred problems of principle from two books of discourses by Urgyen Trinley and made detailed criticism and comments for publishing in the world for people to make their own conclusion. When seeing that, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III told us, “You are cultivators. You should not engage in contesting with strength, relentless fighting or taking advantage of right or wrong. Urgyen Trinley is still young. He is still learning and improving. It is inevitable for him to err in understanding the dharma. To be taken by others and make mistakes is normal. You should forgive him and should not play with right or wrong. Moreover, you must not harm any people. You should see his kindness, the effort he is making, and his merit. If the only outcome is raising a stick to beat upon discovering problem, how could he have the confidence to improve? You should also see the aspect of his advising people to be good. Being compassionate to and benefiting living beings is the only thing you should do.”

I can state very clearly that it is the blessing from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III that protected him, just as stated by Urgyen Trinley’s master who taught him the dharma of his personal deity, “Dorje Chang Buddha is blessing Urgyen Trinley, manifested as H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.” As a matter of fact, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is blessing Urgyen Trinley at all times, wishing him to truly enter into the mind practice of Karmapa. In the same manner, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is always blessing and beseeching fortune for other rinpoches, dharma masters and all living beings, wishing everyone to attain perfect fortune and wisdom and realize enlightenment early.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is only concerned with compassionately benefiting living beings and never thinks about his own glory and disgrace or rise and fall. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s virtue and conduct are unparalleled. Otherwise, the Buddha would not become the recipient of “World Peace Prize” and “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award for International Service and Leadership.”

Several years ago, a person in Taiwan wrote a book to make a big effort of defaming H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. At that time, some people wanted to beat him. Some even wanted to capture him. Upon knowing this, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III immediately stopped these people and stated very seriously, “You must not insult people or beat people. You must not harm this person. If you want to beat him, just beat me. A cultivator must compassionately benefit living beings. Otherwise he is not a Buddhist. Having hatred in mind goes in the opposite direction of cultivation.”

In reality, this person in Taiwan has only hollow theory that is full of errors and does not have wisdom, not to mention supernatural power. His act of slandering was due to the fact that he did not understand H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. For instance, he condemned H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as belonging to the Esoteric Sect and conducting the yab-yum dharma. That is totally wrong.

First, the Buddha’s teaching covers the entire realm of Buddhism and does not belong to any particular sect. Moreover, the yab-yum dharma of the Esoteric Sect is what H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III opposes the most. From the over two thousand dharma lessons discoursed by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, anyone can clearly understand this fact. In the first section of the Chapter “Special Note” in The Supreme and Unsurpassed Mahamudra of Liberation, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III stated,

“Some people mistakenly regard the two dharmas of State Practice and Enlightenment Practice as the yab-yum dharma within the tantric division of supreme yoga or dharma of the vajra division of Tibetan Buddhism. I now seriously inform those people who have such erroneous view. State Practice is clean, pure and free of any dirt, manifesting the reality of holy state of the utmost high nature of enlightenment. Enlightenment Practice is the perfect and fundamental great enlightenment and is the only holiest great dharma of Buddhism that can, within two hours, forcefully guide and put the disciple into the state of self-attaining perfect accomplishment. That includes the Xianliang Great Perfection, the Dharma of Resurrecting from an Unnatural Death, Vajra Body Substitution Meditation, Corpse-Laying Tummo Concentration and Mud-Pill Accomplishment. All can let the disciple attain realization from on-the-spot practice and demonstrate concrete abilities publicly. No dharma from any sect can accomplish the realization within two hours. These two dharmas have absolutely nothing to do with the so-called male-female yab-yum practice mentioned by those mistaken people.”

“In addition, the male-female yab-yum dharma from the Esoteric Sect has been propagating in the world, with figures and text collected into books for distribution. This has almost become an evil fashion and lets many people misinterpret and misguide with such name to perform evil and lewd acts. As a contrasting fact, we can see in real life that, among those who engage in the yab-yum practice, not even one has any real ability of realization. They can only boast with empty words. They cannot have their crown opened, are not able to raise body temperature from tummo practice, are ignorant and dull in the five vidyas, and do not even meet very common measure of realization. All they created are endless and innumerable sins and karmas.”

The Supreme and Unsurpassed Mahamudra of Liberation is not dharma of the Esoteric Sect. It is a utmost highest dharma of Buddhism that truly enters deeply into the practice of compassionately benefiting living beings and can let the disciple attain the reality of seeing the state everywhere. It is a truly great dharma of holiest Tathagata that breaks away from empty talks and ridiculous comments, goes far above the peaks of the nine vehicles and surpasses the perfect proficiency of the tenth bhumi. It is a supreme Buddha-dharma for expediently attaining fast accomplishment of Buddhism.”

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has been disgraced and defamed by many people who do not know the truth. However, he has never cursed or become angry toward these people and often reminded us not to do anything that could harm those slanderers. Not able to endure toward disgrace means losing bodhichitta. When facing other people’s plots and defamation, having the attitude of looking without seeing, hearing but not having attachment, being free of disturbance in mind, and regarding living beings as our own parents are cultivation.

We are disciples of the Buddha’s and must listen to what the Buddha tells us. Practitioner Du Song, I guess you must understand that this is not a violation of the Fourteen Fundamental Precepts of Esoteric Buddhism. Frankly speaking, the Buddha does not allow us to have a mind of revenge or a mind of anger and hatred. We must examine our own acts and conduct during the three periods of the day, stand in the position of compassionately benefiting living beings, and cultivate constantly with a heart of humility. This is actually one of the reasons that I did not return a complete lower half of the couplet to you. This is because of the concern that, if the joke contained within is overdone, you would not understand and would think that it is insulting you. In that case, we would have added afflictions for you.

However, with the passing of such a long time, we saw that many people are trying to find a match to your couplet. Unfortunately, not to mention the absence of a good match, there wasn’t even a correct answer to your question of specifying how many medicines were used. This fact may have disappointed you very much. Actually, we are very disappointed too. Therefore, we revised the last part that has not been sent to make it more acceptable to you. It is hereby sent to you now. As to the original version prepared earlier, I am not going to publish it here. Maybe I will show it to you when we meet. At that time, you will know how delicate and wonderful the subtle and profound essence contained within and what is the difference in the ingredients of the medicine.

Separately, I personally think that you are very knowledgeable about Buddhism and possess high-level scholarly knowledge. However, please allow me to say a sentence that may not be polite to you. I always feel that you have a little bit of foolishness. Are you a heretic practitioner? If not, why did you say something like we are disciples of the Buddha? If you are not a disciple of the Buddha, which great and venerable one’s disciple are you? How precious and hard to come by is the time when the Buddha is present in the world? Why don’t you pay respect to and become a disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? Why don’t you learn and cultivate the true dharma of Tathagata? Rather, you seem to want to be a wandering gallant person showing strength in public and deriving joy from helping the poor. Though such acts may have merit and belong to good deeds, you are definitely not practicing the great dharma of accomplishment that can enable you to attain holy realization within two hours.

Do not hurry. You never read the twenty four volumes of Chinese history. Everything is clearly laid out for you to see but you cannot count. It is piteous that you lack some nerves. How dare an ordinary person to claim being a holy one. This is the end of the upper half. Please give your response. How many medicines did I use? Do you recognize Chinese herb medicines? There is no need to point out that you do not possess the Five Vidyas. Now it is already proven that these two vidyas are absent in you. Being an ordinary person, how vicious are you to talk about great supernormal power?

Du Song, my response to you is:
No need to wait any longer. March 8 was the plan but now I decided to give to you. Hidden subtleties have been recognized so we can communicate opinions at will. You are too terrible with a few extra meridians for boasting. A vulgar person ambitiously claims to be an honored one. The lower half is now published, as a courteous match to yours. My prescription still has other medicines. Without knowing that, you may not correctly read the prescription for liberation and attaining heaven. To address whether I possess all Three Jewels, I tell you that I already have the eight virtues since the ancient time. Two cultivators are striving for compassion. You just need to see the height and depth of realization!

First, thank you for your letter of reply.
Some people said that I have a big (bad) temper. However, my temper is not as big as your boldness. You are truly audacious to the extreme but what you stated is very honest. The moment that people waited for several thousands of years has finally arrived.

The virtue of speaking the truth and not lying advocated by Shakyamuni Buddha has long been blown away by the smoke shells made of evildoers’ sugar-coated words. Where are honest people now? They are few and far between like the sparse mists and clouds in the vast and boundless universe. However, now a forceful wave pounded on the shore. One stroke started a new chapter. Though not something exactly new like the marriage of the famous beauty queen Qiao, a myth of impediment has been solved.

You are truly courageous and knowledgeable as well as logical and composed. Your vision sees all facts and truth transparently. I have to express my admiration to you. A puzzle that so many people were unable to solve has been shown bottom up by a few sentences of yours.

This is certainly true from looking through historical information of great holy ones and eminent monks. Except some symbolic and verbal five vidyas of different magnitude, nothing can be found from all historical records that a certain patriarch master ever put true and concrete things in public to prove that he possessed the complete five categories and had accomplishment in the five vidyas that surpassed that of worldly professionals. Nothing turned up from the great or small patriarch masters in history. Seldom and occasional efforts or casual playing did exist. However, those were no higher than the levels of experts in the world.

On the other hand, the term of “the Five Vidyas” in Buddhism is very true and concrete. In reality, this is simply not a concept of five big categories or ten small categories. It represents the holy realization of Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas. It is the deployment, utilization and manifestation of the wisdom of saving living beings by Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas. The Five Vidyas contain and cover all phenomena, include the entire universe and collectively encompass everything that exists between the sky and the ground. Of course, the accomplishment must be above that of experts among ordinary people to be called “Vidya.” Holy persons have the mission of rescuing and saving ordinary people. If the Five Vidyas of holy ones are no better than the abilities of ordinary people, what kind of holy persons are they? Who is rescuing and saving who?

However, neither one patriarch master within Tibet nor a dharma master from the entire realm of Exoteric Buddhism has abilities covering the complete five vidyas. Conversely, many professional people who are not rinpoches or dharma masters or are not even Buddhists do have better capabilities in a certain aspect than patriarch masters of Buddhism. Take painting from the workmanship vidya for example. There has not been a single patriarch master whose accomplishment is above that of Lang Shining, Tang Bohu (real name Tang Yin), Zheng Banqiao (real name Zheng Xie, formerly translated as Cheng Pan-chiao), Zhu Dai, Shi Tao, Chen Jingrun, Hua Luogeng, Zhang Daqian (formerly translated as Chang Ta-chien), Xu Beihong (formerly translated as Hsu Pei-hung), Chen Yifei, Zhou Chunya, Van Gogh, Picasso, Mona, and Gao Geng.

As to the medicine vidya, this is truly a specialty of many patriarch masters and rinpoches. Ranking with the Chinese medicine and western medicine, each of them has its own features and advantages.

On the subject of causality vidya, the western logics and the causality or Buddhist logic vidya each has is its own distinct merits. There is no conclusion of which is higher or lower. The same is true on the voice vidya.

As an overall but brief summary, measuring accomplishments in various categories with the standards of the Five Vidyas by patriarch masters of Buddhism and worldly people, patriarch masters are a minority. Professionals among worldly people are the majority. The prevalent situation is that worldly people attained higher than masters. Examples of masters are fewer than that of worldly people. Moreover, in the heritage from history, higher accomplishments basically are all from professionals among worldly people. There exist no bright spots that indicate accomplishments of patriarch masters exceeded that of worldly people. Therefore, there is simply not much “vidya” to speak of. Most of what were heard is just exaggerated boasting and flattering.

However, in the vidya of inner realization, ordinary people are much less than the knee height of patriarch masters. In the categories of abilities of inner realization from Buddha-dharma and the conduct of great compassion to benefit living beings, there is nothing that can be compared between ordinary people and patriarch masters. That does not include rinpoches and dharma kings of current times. Such people nowadays basically all are ignorant ordinary people who wear the coat of lineage to pretend to be holy ones. Without mentioning the five vidyas, just one or two vidyas can be more difficult than climbing into the sky. Moreover, there are many evil persons who have the seeds of descending into the hell among them. The Seventeenth Karmapa Urgyen Trinley is a vividly live example.

I was heartedly moved by the view and analysis of Zemang Rinpoche. You are deservingly someone from the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. However, please forgive me. I still have to say what I should say. Although as you stated, I am also an ordinary person who can only sigh at “the Blue Platform,” so long as I do not pretend to be a holy one, the truth I stated should be listened to. A three-year old child may have something worthy of Confucius to learn, not to mention that we Buddhist disciples have a holy teaching of “in accordance to the dharma, not to individuals.” Therefore, although you lifted the curtain blocking the sky and have immeasurable merit, what you did not notice is that you caused boundless sins, because you violated the Fourteen Fundamental Precepts of Esoteric Buddhism.

I seriously listened to the dharma lessons discoursed by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, which are truly magnificent and represent authentic mainstream. I have no criticism at all. Du Song me is not a fool, nor a mentally handicapped person who is not proficient in the sutras’ teaching and does not understand the truth in Buddha-dharma. I am not as foolish as to pointing against H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Without the need of mentioning the Buddha’s wisdom of great enlightenment in entirety, just those thirty categories of accomplishments can crush me Du Song into a pond of mud. With such astonishing accomplishments laid in front of me, only patients in psychiatric hospitals would not know good or bad. Only a fool who lived as a pig in the past eighteen lifetimes will be unable to tell what kind of high and broad holy wisdom these thirty big categories were produced from. It is like a gallant lion appears among a pile of mice. If you insist on perceiving the gallant lion as a mouse, what can you be other than a pig head, a mentally handicapped, or a psychiatric patient?

The wisdom and accomplishment of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are the highest accomplishment of complete five vidyas that appeared for the first time in history. Du Song is humbly reciting the Mantra of Respecting the Buddha and prostrating face down with the whole body! Except the Buddha, who has such realm of great compassion as the mind wish of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in “The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation”?

Thus, not a tiny bit from what Du Song I am referring to is against the Buddha, unless I dare to risk descending to the hell realm. To be even a little more straightforward, I cannot be so foolish as to be rude toward the Buddha. Otherwise, in case La Zheng or someone from your office publicly invites me by name to apply for appearing on the Blue Platform, wasn’t I asking for the bad luck of embarrassing myself?

The Buddha is always the Buddha. However, people around the Buddha are not necessarily all holy ones. That is why Zemang Rinpoche and the rest of you violated the Fourteen Fundamental Precepts. You even dare to defend Urgyen Trinley. Didn’t you see the open letter on his official web site? That thing says that he, Urgyen Trinley, has never provided recognition of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, etc. Upon seeing this kind of vicious manner created by such shameless villain, even an outsider as me would curse him with all my voice and then kick him under the iron chain in the ghost realm. Of course, this is not a deed of compassion. However, it is certainly an act of defending the true Buddha-dharma. Then, what were you all who are disciples around the Buddha doing? Nothing has been heard since the passage of such long time. If that is not your violation of precepts, what is it?

Apparently, Urgyen Trinley was making the postures of promoting himself. He reached out his pair of dirty hands to plate gold on his face. The outcome is that his face is smeared with dog shit. I never saw or heard from any place that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III or anyone at a related position stated that the Seventeenth Karmapa wrote recognition. They never wanted him to write such worthless stuff to begin with. What has to do with him? He came out like a jumping clown claiming he did not write. He should really just pee a round of yellow urine to make a mirror showing what he is!

Let’s not mention that he Urgyen Trinley is too young to have dried his womb hair yet and is not the true Karmapa. Even if he were the true Karmapa, he would only be a well-known disciple of the primordial Buddha, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. What qualification does he have to write recognition? Even the first Great Jewel Dharma King Dusongchienba had a difference of sky and ground when comparing to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in terms of either the status of enlightenment or the practice of enlightenment. There is simply anything that can be compared. However, Dusongchienba had an honest heart and the mind of a great Bodhisattva. He always visualized Dorje Chang Buddha above the top of his head for receiving empowerment. This is because the highest primordial patriarch is Dorje Chang Buddha. Tilopa was the next.

Even Dusongchienba would not have the qualification to give recognition to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, because his status of enlightenment and identity was too far from doing that. However, as a stupid person who is not proficient in sutras and makes mistakes everywhere in his discourses, Urgyen Trinley extremely ridiculously tried to turn non-existent events into melted gold to paint his face. In the end, a low-class, dirty and ugly face mask was smeared out. The appearance is just that of a low-class bully and a shameless gangster!

Let’s leave aside the subject of Blue Platform Verification for now. Just look at Urgyen Trinley’s abilities in calligraphy, literature, poetry and prose, and reasoning of the dharma, what does he have that can be remotely compared with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III? His paintings and calligraphy are full of inelegance. Poetry, literature, sculpture, architecture and handicraft arts are what he knows nothing about and has not gotten to the starting point. Being a rough and stubborn person as he is, in his entire lifetime he would not be able to accomplish one-tenth of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s thirty categories of accomplishments. He can only stay disappointed with a tightly sealed brain of ordinary being. Isn’t that true?

If Urgyen Trinley is not convinced by what I said here, please demonstrate your ability to let people see. If he truly possesses the wonderful wisdom of a holy person, Blue Platform Verification should be a trivial thing. He can receive openly the twenty million dollars with perfect justification. Then why did he need to acquire the small number of several hundred thousand dollars by deception? If he is a true holy person, can he take a picture to show whether his crown has been opened? Was his crown opened by the Phowa dharma? Dare he claim that his Phowa dharma is real? If so, why didn’t he open his own crown first? These are all faked performance for cheating muddled and stupid people!

I feel very strange now. Isn’t he Urgyen Trinley a Tathagata? Having spent all kinds of tricks and efforts for the several hundred thousand dollars, why isn’t he able to claim the twenty million bright and splendid greenbacks without any contamination from the Blue Platform? This is truly the situation of you do not want to get the money existing in heaven and instead try to steal in the hell where there is no money. Look at this kind of virtue and conduct. Such pitiable and powerless appearance is what you believe to be a true “Honored and Victorious Tathagata.”

If he is still unconvinced and wants to perish in an even uglier manner, I will definitely meet his wish. I will publicly analyze his discourses and books, completely according to the truth and according to the dharma. So all his believers and disciples would clearly know what kind of a deceiver who violates sutras this “Tathagata” really is.

Of course, I still hope that he can laid down the butcher knife and truly cultivate. Then I am not going to be involved in this matter.

For Urgyen Trinley who has such intolerable virtue and conduct, you Zemang and others are still trying to use sutras and scriptures to white-wash him. Aren’t you assisting evildoers in their conduct? Isn’t this helping people who defamed the Buddha? I cannot tolerate that. This violated the Fourteen Fundamental Precepts of Esoteric Buddhism. The sin of slandering a true vajra master is already boundless, not to mention that he is slandering the Buddha who attained the acme of perfection in the five vidyas!

Being the staff members of the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, you paid no attention to the evildoers’ statement and speech appearing on the official web site of Urgyen Trinley. That is truly extremely terrible!

I know that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III does not mind and, in the same manner as the tolerance of being dismembered by King Kalinga, will forgive all evildoers to give them the opportunity of correcting evil acts and doing good deeds. However, that is just the Buddha’s realization of great compassion and should not be relevant to your abiding by the precepts as disciples. Being close disciples of the Buddha, how can you allow those who defame the Buddha roaming and raging and be indifferent?

It seems to me that you are having great difficulty in matching the half couplet. If you can’t, don’t worry about it for now. You should repent first. After the karmic impediment receded and you become cleverer, then try it again.

I wish you to have clear and awakened minds early and to have correct views and increase fortune and wisdom!
