Answer No. 27

The study of sutras, vinayas, and shastras (commentaries) is truly very important. One who is a master or respected one teaching people must enter deeply into the teachings in the sutras and understand what is learned. If one does not understand the study of sutras, vinayas, and shastras oneself, this person is an outsider of Buddhism. An outsider will definitely take what he or she does not understand to assembly into baseless words and sentences to teach people. Doing so will absolutely lead cultivators into evil paths and cause them to devolve into the realms of sin and evil. Even building a Buddhist site for this type of masters will cause one to meet dark karma.
