Great Virtuous Ones at the Office,

Greetings! This ignorant disciple has a matter to ask great virtuous ones to help me resolve the confusion.

Can a gau box of Tibetan esoteric Buddhism be regarded as a holy object or holy dharma apparatus of Buddhism? Does it possess the power of empowerment? Can it bring us the reward of good fortune and expel demonic hindrance for us? I ask these questions because a dharma king from Tibet brought ten limited-edition gau boxes that were specially empowered by practicing the dharma of demon-subduing fire offering. Can we beseech those?

Of course we know that these gau boxes do not have as big power of empowerment as the gau boxes from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. However, there are very few gau boxes from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. It is very difficult for us to beseech one. At the same time, we also hope that the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III can tell us whether there are still gau boxes or other holy object and dharma apparatus from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III or not. In general, how much money of offering is required to beseech? Please tell us.

Thank you very much!

Ignorant Disciple: Che Jue

Validations from the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

Our Office hereby provides the follow validation of facts in reply to the letter from Buddhist disciple Che Jue:

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never produced gau boxes and never empowered and sold or gave gau boxes from other places to anyone who beseeches. Moreover, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never sold any piece of dharma object or apparatus, not even one!

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said that the reason He does not circulate these types of things is because He is a humble one and things He gives to others will not have power of empowerment. That is why He does not do such things that are unrelated to cultivation.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is truly producing things. What H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is producing includes teaching and guiding people to learn the dharma taught by Sakyamuni Buddha and act in accord with the teaching and exhorting His disciples to leave and stay far away from lying, deceiving, and doing evil, not to learn from evil masters and their books and commentaries, and to establish the bodhicitta of being unselfish, honest, and aboveboard, strictly abiding by the teaching, and benefiting the masses. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III produces the humble mentality and conduct of not accepting offerings and serving the masses without receiving compensation.

Other than selling the paintings and calligraphies He created and paying the taxes to the tax agencies in accordance with the law, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III gave other worldly products He invented including Yi Ci Ling (a remedy for frostbite), Fa Bi Sheng (Hair Must Grow, a powerful hair-growth liquid), the tea of Bi Yu Chun, the tea of Ba Wang Chun, and others to society completely free of charge. The invention of more than one hundred varieties of colored tiles was also completely donated without receiving a cent of money or stocks in the company. This is His Holiness the Buddha who speaks about benefiting living beings verbally and carries out that deed in practice!

The Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III does the same to uphold and carry out the teaching. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never collected a cent of money for dharma objects left from any dharma assembly, such as Vajra sand, Vajra cords, nectar pills, and others, and never cared about who took what after the dharma assembly!

Gau boxes in Tibet belong to the artistic crafts of esoteric Buddhism for holding sutra books, Buddha images, or other things and are dharma objects carried in person by lamas and some cultivators. Gau boxes are classified into three kinds: (1) gau boxes that are holy objects; (2) ordinary gau boxes; and (3) gau boxes with sinful hindrance. All other dharma apparatus and dharma objects are also classified into these three kinds.

Gau boxes that are holy objects belong to the kind that is good and are auspicious and propitious. Ordinary gau boxes do not have much effect and are neither good nor bad. Gau boxes with sinful hindrance are not good and are inauspicious objects. The ten limited-edition gau boxes were not appraised by us and we have no comment on them.

Additionally, the Office only engages in matters and affairs related to cultivation and learning Buddhism and does not appraise any dharma apparatus. This is because H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “To truly receive empowerment for successfully cultivating the good fruits, one must cultivate! Relying on dharma apparatus and objects will not bring about the effect of cultivation.”

We should only respectfully listen to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and rely on our own cultivation and conduct in accord with the dharma of the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation. Indulging in anything of feudal superstition is just a dreaming delusion. Doing so not only receives no merit from your effort but also, if trapped by evil persons or evil objects, will definitely plant the sin of harming the self and harming others!
