This Office received many letters from Buddhists one after another that request the Office to reply with validations of facts. Now we provide replies that people must be clear about to several tens of questions selected from ten letters received. The replies with validations of facts are listed after the original texts of the ten letters.

Beseeching the Office to Reply to My Questions

I prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

Holy and Virtuous Ones at the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, greetings!

Please allow me to speak from the bottom of my heart. I am a Buddhist disciple with a sincere wish of learning Buddhism. You must have already read the materials I sent in to expose wrongdoings and know that I am a piteous person who has been deceived by a wandering swindler and evil master for quite a few years. I have already written quite a few letters to your Office with many relevant evidences attached to seek validation of facts in my inquiries. I think your Office should have publicized the evil conduct of this wandering swindler and evil master and named him long ago. Without publicly exposing this person by name, he can continue to hold refuge ceremonies to accept new disciples, teach false dharmas, give discourses on evil dogmas, lie to people who do not know the facts, and make deceptions with many stories and excuses.

However, after waiting for so long, I still have not seen replies to my questions from the Office in public. I really do not understand. Why did the Office reply to letters from other people, but not questions from me?

Could the Office consider replying to my letters early?

A layperson in sorrow

Please Discourse and Explain

Respected Great Virtuous Ones at the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III,

I read Validation of Facts from Letter of Inquiry #8from the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, which stated that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III agreed that there are evil masters and demonic evil spirits among His disciples. Then, are there evil masters among the disciples of His Holiness the Buddha who were mentioned in the treasure book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and who are the famous dharma kings, venerable ones, rinpoches, and dharma masters with their photos published in the treasure book? Since there are swindlers, evil masters, and demonic evil spirits, I don’t know why their names were not publicly mentioned? If they are exposed by name publicly, people would not be deceived by them. Doing so would truly protect living beings’ interests. Why aren’t they mentioned by name publicly?

Separately, can we Buddhists practice Ba Duan Jin (an exercise consisting of eight sections), the Form of Five Animals, and Heavenly Circling Qigong for physical exercises? I don’t think doing so is a heretic practice. Am I correct?

I respectfully beseech great virtuous ones to give this disciple who is in delusion a discourse with explanations.

I respectfully wish you auspiciousness!

Buddhist Disciple: Deshan

Beseeching Discourse

(An e-mail with the date of Mon, Jan 20, 2014 at 3:51 PM)

From: gg <guangming67@qq.com>

To: dcb3office <dcb3office@gmail.com>

Respected Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III,

We, several Buddhist disciples, have several questions from our learning. We feel that these questions are important to our knowledge and views. We respectfully ask the Office to take the trouble to give us discourses:

  1. An elder rinpoche who is between 70 and 80 years old said that he was the only one in Sichuan Province who had received direct teaching from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, and that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had decided to dispatch him to take over the temple in Mt. Wuzhong. Is what he said true or false? If he spoke falsely, did we commit sins by supporting him with money? Did he tell the truth?
  2. Separately, there is another master who told us not to go to learn the dharma from His Holiness the Buddha on December 4, 2013, when H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III transmitted the Dharma of Meditation in California. He said that we must go to his place to be in his company. He told us that doing what he told us was in true correspondence with him and could truly have immeasurable merit. He even said that this was what H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III permitted. Please tell us if these are all true.
  3. May we ask whether a holy one who is at the level of having one Sun-Moon wheelis a Bodhisattva or an Arhat?
  4. We know that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is an extremely holy and virtuous Buddha at the highest level of having five Sun-Moon wheels. However, we do not know the level(s) of reincarnations of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, Master Padmasambhava, Master Tsongkhapa, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and some other Bodhisattvas. How many Sun-Moon wheels does each of them have? Some people said that the larger the number of star wheels that a certificate of holiness and virtue has, the higher the level of the holy and virtuous one. Then the greater the power of empowerment will be when the certificate of holiness and virtue is put on top of a disciple’s head for empowerment. Is this true?
  5. How can we distinguish a holy person who is a true reincarnation of a Bodhisattva? Is it true that recognition(s) by famous great dharma king(s) and/or or great lama(s) can accurately determine if one is a true reincarnation of a holy one? Or is a recognition proven by supernatural power even more accurate?
  6. Some master(s) said that only esoteric Buddhism can lead to the accomplishments of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and that the highest accomplishment from cultivating exoteric Buddhism is becoming an Arhat, not a Bodhisattva. Is this correct?
  7. According to public announcements from the Office, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III does not receive and meet those who follow evil masters and swindlers without wanting to leave. Why?
  8. Now many people have been recognized as rinpoches. Are these recognitions approved by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III?
  9. Is the level of rinpoche higher than that of dharma master by two levels?

We are boundlessly grateful to your kindness!

Letter #4:

Urgently beseeching validations of facts in our letter

(An e-mail with the date of Tue, Jan 28, 2014 at 7:56 PM)

From: Xinming <xinming997@163.com>

To: hhdcb3office2@gmail.com, dcb3office@gmail.com, info@dcb3office.org

I prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

Respected Great Virtuous Ones at the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III,

We are Buddhist disciples engaging in cultivation, learning Buddhism, and good conduct. We believe in the law of cause and effect and the principle of abstaining from everything that is evil and doing everything that is good. We have been deceived for several years by a so-called famous master who is doing false cultivation. We suffered huge losses, especially financially. This person always lies and also teaches us to lie. He could use the name of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to cheat people at any time. He told us that he had received messages from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to him through other people, that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had made phone calls to him, and so on. In the end, it was only until the end of last year that we learned from the Office’s public announcements that he did not even have H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s phone number. He truly took our money but dared to say that he had never taken any money at all.

In another issue, a master said that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III supported his initiative of establishing the academy of the Four Books and Five Sutras. He asked us all to give money. That made many people feel great pressure in life and they still had to give money. This master raised a lot of funds. The money was held by a Mr. Chen. This Mr. Chen has been helping him on this matter from the beginning. We are still not clear whether the money has already been divided privately among them yet. We beseech an answer: Does establishing the academy of the Four Books and Five Sutras belong to the regular deeds of Buddhists?

Also, some master once told us that, no matter what, if one has taken an oath in a tantric mandala to pledge loyalty to him, changing one’s mind afterwards to retreat from the oath would certainly meet with the vicious retribution mentioned in the oath. However, if this master is a swindler or an evil master, will our disloyalty to him cause vicious retribution too? On the one hand, violating the oath would cause vicious retributions. On the other hand, we cannot continue to follow an evil master. What should we do?

Additionally, a master of dharma-listening sessions said that the important dharma lesson expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and published on January 19, 2014 was actually not that important to us, and was not of much use for us. So we do not need to beseech that lesson. We were told that the dharma lesson was not suitable for us to listen to because of the level we were at. Listening to this dharma lesson will hurt our karmic conditions. In that case, we will lose our qualifications of learning the dharma.

The questions we brought up today are all what we face in real life. In order to protect living beings’ interests, we urgently need to get your reply for validation.

We once again prostrate gratefully!

Buddhist Disciples: Xinling, Xingming, and others

Beseeching the holy and virtuous ones at the Office to take the trouble to provide validations of facts

The Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III: Auspiciousness!

I beseech the holy and virtuous ones at the Office to take the trouble to provide validations of the following ironclad stipulations that we have:

Guard against disloyalty to the master; Guard against deliberately concealing issues or matters from the master; Guard against lying to the master; Guard against generating doubt toward the master; Guard against making false vows to the master; Guard against not opposing people who slander the master; Guard against not having bodhicitta toward living beings; Guard against taking oaths and abiding by them toward swindlers and evil masters; Guard against being loyal to a master who violated the complete set of Grand Precepts awarded in three dharma assemblies, and; One must not have doubt toward a master who is a reincarnated Arhat or Bodhisattva.

Some people said that one must introspect oneself every day. It is sinful if any violation against these ironclad stipulations is found and one does not repent right away. Moreover, one must repent and swear not to violate them again forever. Additionally, one must also repent for impure karmas due to ignorance and self-based views and swear not to violate them again. Another rule says that, after following a master, one must not go to other masters to learn. Otherwise one is a traitor.

We were told that we Buddhist disciples must abide by the above-mentioned ironclad stipulations. Otherwise we will not become accomplished. We beseech the holy and virtuous ones at the Office to validate whether this is correct.

I am boundlessly grateful to your kindness!

Seeking instructions regarding the matter of establishing a service center for recorded dharma lessons

(An e-mail with the date of Thu, Jan 30, 2014 at 4:28 PM)

From: Gursun <gursun2589@163.com>

To: hhdcb3office@gmail.com, info@dcb3office.org, dcb3office@gmail.com, hhdcb3office2@gmail.com

I would like to seek instructions from the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III:

Our master now established a dharma lesson service center and said that the dharma lesson service center can represent the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to handle matters related to the recorded dharma lessons. Is this true? Does this mean that the dharma lesson service center is authorized to copy the recorded dharma lessons and then we should just request and receive the dharma lessons from the dharma lesson service center?

I hope that you can give teaching and guidance to me!

Respectively, Gursun Dorje

Seeking validation

(An e-mail with the date of Tue, Feb 18, 2014 at 10:02 AM)

From: Yuemiao <shyuemiao@163.com>

Respected holy and virtuous ones,

How are you!

The International Buddhism Sangha Association (IBSA) will hold H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Grand Dharma Assembly and Assembly Celebrating the First Publication of Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra on March 23, 2014 in Hong Kong. The event will become a great milestone in the history of Buddhism. This news is a supreme voice of good fortune to us Buddhist disciples. We are grateful to all services and work that IBSA has done for us. Based on our understanding, we Buddhist disciples should overcome various difficulties to seize the opportunity of attending this magnificent dharma assembly that is difficult to encounter even in millions of eons to witness together this great event on that day.

However, our master told us, “There will be a lot of people at this dharma assembly. The situation will be very complicated. The state at the site will be quite chaotic too. It would be better not to attend. There is not much to learn anyway. Just stay home and listen to the dharma.” As a result, many fellow brothers and sisters canceled this planned trip.

I would like to ask, should we make an effort to attend this dharma assembly or follow the “prediction” of our master? Is this opinion of our master problematic? I respectfully ask the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III or the International Buddhism Sangha Association to resolve timely the delusions we disciples have. We are very grateful!

Letter #8:

Respectfully beseeching H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to resolve the delusion we have

I respectfully beseech H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to resolve the delusion we have!

I am a rinpoche. My only wish is to enlighten myself and enlighten others. However, I encountered a question related to propagating Buddha-dharma and benefiting living beings that I cannot come up with the answer by myself. I beseech a discourse to guide me to get out of this deluded situation.

According to what I currently know, some certificates of holiness and virtue issued were based on investigations and examinations by three masters and seven witnesses. I am keenly aware that such a certificate is not equivalent to a certificate of the highest class issued by an examination proctored by seven masters and ten witnesses. I wanted to take the examination very much. However, now a knot has been tied in my mind. I am not able to untie it no matter how hard I try. Whenever I think about going to take the examination, a strong impediment is produced. Because the site of examination is solemnly guarded by dharma protectors in the sky with their weapons drawn, the perceived deterrence may cause me to lose my power of concentration. If I do not pass the examination, I will lose the certificate of holiness and virtue I now have and will no longer have the status of a holy and virtuous one. Then, how can I save living beings in the future? I beseech guidance from His Holiness the Buddha. How can I untie this knot, so that I can pass the examination with an open mind and without feeling any pressure? I want to lay down the impediment completely so I will not fail.

Additionally, I respectfully beseech His Holiness the Buddha. Is it possible to transmit a dharma to those who are already holy and virtuous ones but have not passed the examination to ensure them to pass the examination? That can be an expedient way of helping us proselytize living beings and propagate Buddha-dharma better.

A disciple of the Buddha, Tudeng Yixi Gyatso, beseeches with three karmas!

I respectfully wait for a reply with a discourse of the dharma!

I prostrate to the Great Jewel with my three karmas

Beseeching your discourse

Namo the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

Namo Sakyamuni Buddha stated clearly in the sutras that one becomes a Bodhisattva through the Five Vidyas. In other words, a Bodhisattva must possess the Five Vidyas. Otherwise, one is not a Bodhisattva.

However, many Bodhisattvas emerged in this densely populated human world. There are very, very many great Bodhisattvas, patriarch masters, and venerable ones. This strange phenomenon made me think. Why don’t these Bodhisattvas possess the Five Vidyas? How could they be great Bodhisattvas if they did not possess the Five Vidyas? This is especially common in Tibetan Buddhism. Any rinpoche we see is always a reincarnation of either a great Bodhisattva or a great patriarch master. I still cannot figure out the answer after thinking about this many times. Why the situation of Bodhisattvas in this world does not match the statement “one becomes a Bodhisattva through the Five Vidyas” in the sutras?

More strangely, these rinpoches who are reincarnations of Bodhisattvas were all recognized by famous great dharma kings and great virtuous ones. Could the recognitions be wrong? If a recognition is wrong, does that mean the great dharma king who made the recognition is also a false one? If the recognitions are not wrong, is it true that this world does have great Bodhisattvas who are not conversant in the Five Vidyas? Could it be that the special karmic conditions in the current special era do not required great Bodhisattvas to be conversant in the Five Vidyas?

Separately, a mastered declared that the Vajra sands from his dharma practice can bring rewards of good fortune and eliminate disasters. Do Vajra sands have such effects? Among H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples whose photos were printed in the book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, who can make Vajra sands through practicing the dharma?

Also, a rinpoche who is among H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples whose photos were printed in the book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III claimed that he holds inner tantric initiations for his disciples. Please tell us which rinpoches whose photos were printed in the treasure book can hold inner tantric initiations? Among the venerable ones, dharma kings, and rinpoches whose photos were printed in the treasure book, which ones have the highest powers of realization? How many Sun-Moon wheels do they have? How big are the distances between their statuses? I respectfully beseech, is it possible to give us an analogy? Is the great holy and virtuous one at the level of having three Sun-Moon wheels who made the selection through the dharma of Selection Made in Dark Confinement from One-Hundred Dharmas to Choose the Door toward Enlightenment for Dharma Master Zhengda among these people? At what levels of star wheels can one practice the dharma to successfully produce Vajra sands? Does a so-and-so famous master in China possess Vajra sands?

I respectfully beseech H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to give a discourse for me and some other people who are in delusion.

Letter #10:

I would like to understand a situation

(An e-mail with the date of Mon, Jan 27, 2014 at 9:21 PM)

From: Ci Yuan <ciyuan246@gmail.com>

To: dcb3office@gmail.com,

Cc: hhdcb3office@gmail.com, info@dcb3office.org

Leader(s) of the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III,

The purpose of my writing this letter is not to cause a validation of facts from the letter received. I only want to have my own understanding regarding a situation. I don’t know why the great and wise H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III does not care about the development and growth of the Buddha’s Sect and would even risk damaging its supporting pillars. During the latest period of a little over a month, the Office issued a large number of validations of facts from letters received and public announcements oriented toward serious criticism. That made many masters feel uneasy in carrying out the endeavor of propagating Buddha-dharma. Is it true that your Office does not care about expanding the influence of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the growth of the Buddha’s Sect being hurt?

Your Office can take a look at the websites of Buddhists or other sects around the world. You will not find one that focuses on criticizing their own disciples at the levels of masters and dharma masters. Such a situation did not exist in history either. I would like to ask you to consider. For the sake of proselytizing more people into learning Buddhism, when masters make mistakes, it should suffice to teach and transform them privately to let them correct. Do not cause them to collapse. They are leading people to listening to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Only the recorded dharma lessons can truly benefit living beings. The more people listen to the recorded dharma lessons under the leadership of these masters, the more good people there will be.

I am an ordinary cultivator and do not have a far-sighted vision. Please point out and correct what I said wrong.

Ci Yuan

Validations of Facts from the Letters Received by the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

Because the contents of the letters processed this time are diverse and involve many details, for your ease of reading and understanding, we do not list them in the order of date when the letter was received. Rather, the questions are listed in the order that is based on the original texts in the letters seeking validations of facts. Then, replies with validations of the facts are given right after the original text in the letter that raised the question.

Original question from the letter received Please allow me to speak from the bottom of my heart.

However, after waiting for so long, I still have not seen replies in public to my questions from the Office. I really do not understand. Why did the Office reply to letters from other people, but not questions from me?

Could your Office consider replying to my letters early?  Reply with validationFirst, our Office must inform all cultivators. Public announcements, explanations, and validations of facts from this Office in response to letters of inquiry are all for benefiting the great masses based on the principle of bodhicitta, are in accord with cultivation and precepts of Buddha-dharma, and expound the principles of Buddha-dharma with correct knowledge and views. What was talked about in these publications only targets toward the conduct and deeds of not abiding by the precepts and rules of Buddhism, representing evil knowledge and views, defrauding others, and damaging or disturbing the teaching of Buddha-dharma but does not target any particular person. This Buddhist disciple asked why the Office did not reply to and publish his/her letter. This is due to a number of reasons.

For example, some letters raised issues that were sharply targeted toward some person(s) and mentioned their name(s). If our Office replies publicly, the person(s) named will be seriously hurt. Also, it may be due to the fact that the matter(s) brought up in the letter is outside of the domain of providing validations by the Office based on the fundamental principle of learning Buddhism and cultivation. Additionally, the person involved may have expressed the attitude of repenting, correcting, and engaging in serious cultivation. Perhaps this person can truly correct and become better. As a result, we must give anyone who is willing to truly correct evil and turn toward good an opportunity to do so. If they are now willing to repent and correct their faults to start a new life, it is not yet necessary to name them publicly. Only if one cannot be saved by any means, will this person be named and expelled.

Secondly, there are really too many letters received. Moreover, some letters are related to the same or similar questions. In such situations, our Office would select a representative one among letters with similar questions to reply with validations.

Thirdly, and most importantly, there are already definitive answers in the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and especially in the 128 views to many questions raised in the letters received. Therefore, in the public announcements, our Office emphasized over and over again that Buddhist disciples should respectfully listen to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III with attention and should use the 128 views to check all cultivators. Then you will arrive naturally at the answers on what is upright and what is evil. This is the very reason.

Also, some people mentioned in their letters to the Office that questioning the person involved in a matter should not appear in the Office’s public announcements. It is true that the Office did not need to ask such questions. However, living beings were deluded by the matter. Therefore, the question was raised on behalf of living beings and was for the purpose of letting people know the situation. His Holiness the Buddha knows that all conditional phenomena are dreams, illusions, floating bubbles, and shadows and that there is no need to ask. However, living beings must know the answer. Take the Diamond Sutra for example, the Buddha was always asking Venerable Subhuti rhetorically, to use the karmic condition to expound the dharma! That was a similar way to achieve wonderful outcomes!

From now on, regardless of whom the letter is from, as long as the question(s) raised is outside the domain including Buddhist cultivation, precepts, whether a view is upright or evil, and distinguishing the true or false of masters, our Office will no longer reply to provide validations of facts. We ask cultivators to seek the correct explanations from the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and from the 128 views. Only when the question does not belong to the above domain and must be replied by this Office publicly, will our Office publicly provide validations of facts in response to the letter received. As to the ultimate truth about human life, the universe, and ending the cycle of birth and death, very complete teachings can be found in the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the treasure books. Profound supreme dharma was also expounded very clearly in the treasure scripture Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra. The highest dharma of cultivation is in the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation. Once you have learned the above precious essences of cultivation well and apply them to your conduct, you will naturally receive the teaching of great dharma.  Original question from the letter receivedI read Validation of Facts from Letter of Inquiry #8from the Office of H.H. Reply with validationThere are all kinds of people in the world’s Buddhist realm. There are true cultivators; there are false cultivators; there are upright persons; there are evil ones; there are swindlers; there are demonic spirits; there are holy persons; and there are eminent monks and great virtuous ones. The same is true and there are also all kinds of persons among the disciples of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Since H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III clearly knew that some of them were not up-to-standard cultivators, why did His Holiness the Buddha still teach them? This is because they are living beings. Also, helping bad people to let them become good ones is one of the things the Buddha does and is a good thing.

Among the disciples of His Holiness the Buddha with their photos published in the treasure book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, at least half of them already have problems now. At the time when the International Buddhism Sangha Association included them in the book, they were rather good. Later, due to disturbance and contamination by worldly phenomena, they do not listen to the recorded dharma lessons, do not cultivate the mind practice, and do not practice the daily dharma. Gradually, greed and selfish desire grew stronger and evil views increased in them. Some violated the precepts. Some even used the name of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to defraud people. Some made up fake Buddha-dharma to teach their disciples. Some entered into evil views and became evil masters. Some were absorbed in demonic conduct. That is why H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III informed you all that you should only listen to dharma lessons expounded by Him. Otherwise, one will definitely step onto wrong paths. However, some of His disciples are still eminent monks, great virtuous ones, and holy ones.

To prevent cultivators from being deceived and defrauded, our Office reminded you all over and over again to use the 128 views to check all people. Only by doing so can you tell who is a good person and who is a master with evil views. As to why we do not mention their names publicly to say who is good or who is bad, it is because mentioning the names publicly is not beneficial to the great masses, for various reasons. Some are just beginning to change and are not very bad yet. It is still entirely possible to teach and transform them to become good persons again and even holy ones. Some who have evil views also have done things in furtherance of Buddhism and played active roles to lead people to listen to the dharma. In the process of listening to the recorded dharma lessons, they can learn how to be a good person and thus break away from evil. Some who are truly evil have made up their determination to repent and are very likely to correct their evil ways and turn toward goodness. …… In these situations, naming them publicly is the equivalent of pushing them down into an abyss. Then they cannot be rescued by anyone no matter how great one’s bodhicitta is, because they will not have a chance to revive. In that case, we will not be able to save them and what we did will amount to losing great compassion and bodhicitta.

Additionally, the most important reason is that, if these people are named publicly, you all would mistakenly think that only the ones being named are evil swindlers or masters with evil views, and those who were not named would all be regarded as good persons and holy ones. Actually, the ones who were not named are also changing while undergoing impermanence. They may change from good to bad, or become even better. That is why we want you all to use the 128 views as a devil-revealing mirror to thoroughly distinguish everyone within the realm of Buddhism. Any person should be examined this way. As a result, no swindler or evildoer can escape from being identified.

Of course, only if one is a ferocious devil and cannot be saved by any means, will the Office name and expel this person. You all should pay special attention to a kind of situation. Once an evil master realizes that his or her vicious deeds and deceptions is about to be exposed, before being expelled, he or she may take the measure of leaving ahead of time in an attempt to avoid his or her defrauding evil nature being exposed.  Original question from the letter receivedCan we Buddhists practice Ba Duan Jin (an exercise consisting of eight sections), the Form of Five Animals, and Heavenly Circling Qigong for physical exercises? I don’t think doing so is a heretic practice. Am I correct?  Reply with validationBa Duan Jin and the other methods of exercise were not created by Sakyamuni Buddha. They do not belong to dharmas of Buddhism and are of course outside of the realm of Buddhism. If not heretical practices, can they be dharmas of Buddhism? As a Buddhist, you could not even tell what authentic teachings of Buddhism are and what heretical practices are. Your knowledge is so shallow and mediocre! Having this question indicates that you are at the level of having just started kindergarten and have not entered the door of Buddhism and the study of Buddhism yet. Actually you do not even know the meaning of words from the common knowledge of humanity. You must do more reading, especially make an effort to read and understand the Tripitaka! If such a statement representing ignorance in one’s learning, knowledge, and views was from a master, this person is truly an idiot in Buddhism and the study of Buddhism, or a swindler with a one-hundred-percent certainty!

As another example, someone sent a letter stating that doing business was not related to the Five Skandhas. Anyone who reads Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra and gets just a half understanding will know how ignorant a person making such a statement is. This person has an extremely low knowledge in the study of Buddhism. The ultimate truth of the Five Skandhas is like music played to cattle, without resulting in any understanding. As an analogy, this person is like a toddler of kindergarten age. His mother gave him a candy and spoke to him in a scholarly ancient tone, “You shall remove your air of arrogance and do more reading.” Upon hearing that, the toddler removed the candy’s wrap, put the candy into his mouth, and started to chew. He said, “I listen to what mommy told me. I removed the wrap of the candy and am doing more chewing in my mouth.” The mother did not know how to react and said, “I was telling you to remove your air of arrogance and do more reading. I did not say to you to remove the candy’s wrap and do more chewing.” How can a kindergarten toddler possibly understand a scholarly ancient philosophical saying?

Swindlers and evil masters are so idiotic and low in learning without any knowledge about the ultimate truth of Buddhism, just like a kindergarten toddler. However, they can still deceive a bunch of people just by fabricating nonsense. You can tell how ignorant and silly the people being deceived are! Of course, people who are seeking the learning are even more piteous. They need kind help from us! Actually, cultivators only need to listen to the authentic versions of the recorded dharma lessons distributed by the International Buddhism Sangha Association, read the public announcements from this Office often, and not to listen to the edited dharma lessons reproduced by evil masters. Then they will definitely be on the right path without being harmed!  Original question from the letter receivedAn elder rinpoche who is between 70 and 80 years old said that he was the only one in Sichuan Province who had received direct teaching from H.H. Reply with validationH.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “I am a humble one. I only have the vow of carrying out the deed of providing service to benefit living beings without compensation. What qualification do I have to designate a person as a lineage holder? Not to mention such a humble one as me, think about the world’s supreme leader of Buddhism Sakyamuni Buddha. Who was His lineage holder? Was that Venerable Kassapa? Then did Venerable Kassapa achieve the best learning and attain the highest accomplishment? Since he was a venerable one, was he in a position to reach the bottom of the Buddha’s feet with the top of his head to succeed the Buddha? Only the one who learned well and attained high accomplishment to become a Bodhisattva at the level of universal enlightenment is the true lineage holder.”

The Buddha must care for and save all living beings in an equal manner. Though patriarch masters designated their successors or lineage holders. Their successors essentially just held up the signs superficially. Looking through history, it has been proven long ago that many so-called lineage holders were not as good as non-lineage holders in terms of cultivation, realization, and accomplishment. Therefore, the status of a lineage holder does not represent true accomplishments of cultivating Buddha-dharma and realized virtue and capacity. Genuine accomplishment and holy realization cannot be represented by the status of a lineage holder. Therefore, you cannot believe in the status of a lineage holder. Rather, the true or false and the high or low must be determined from the certificate of holiness and virtue. Whether one is upright or evil has to be examined using the 128 views.

It is true that Venerable Elder Monk Pu Guan of Mt. Wuzhong entered nirvana and left an uncorrupted corpse. Both he and the 106-year old Venerable Elder Monk Guan Zhang are disciples of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Their positions of abbot at Mt. Wuzhong were appointed by the Chinese government. All temples in China are administered by the Chinese government. The abbot of a temple is decided by the Bureau of Religions. Rinpoches and dharma masters who propagate Buddha-dharma in China all have professional certificates issued by the Bureau of Religions. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is not an official or staff member of the Chinese government by any means. How could He decide on this?

The person who spoke what you mentioned was lying. Such speech and conduct is not what a true cultivator should do. Since that person is quite a few decades old already, he should be aware that the outcome of impermanence is getting closer and should have the urge to be humble and cultivate. If this rinpoche truly regards himself an eminent monk or a great virtuous one, he should apply to the United International World Buddhist Association Headquarters (UIWBAH) for taking the examination of holiness and virtue. Once he is issued a certificate of holiness and virtue, his status will be higher than an abbot of a temple. The reason is very simple. If one is not truly profoundly conversant in the sutras, does not expertly understand cultivation and Buddha-dharma, does not absolutely belong to the Buddha’s authentic teaching, and does not possess the correct knowledge and views as well as virtue and realization of Buddhism, the seventeen proctoring dharma masters and rinpoches will not dare to take an oath against severe consequences to guarantee one as an accomplished one with true power of realization. No one is willing to take an oath to lie for someone with the consequence of encountering the retribution of descending into the hell realm. Moreover, all seventeen people have to take an oath, without even one exception. That fact is behind an ironclad certificate of holiness and virtue, and a true holy and virtuous one! Therefore, without a certificate of holiness and virtue, there is no way to tell whether one is holy or mundane! Even if your dream of being the abbot of the temple becomes true, you are still a fake and a false holy person.

Remember, in cultivation and learning Buddhism, the main effort should be practicing the six paramitas in all acts and one should get guidance from listening to the recorded dharma lessons. One should follow the two great mind essences of the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation as the outline to achieve enlightenment. A cultivator should not depart from the six paramitas and the two great mind essences and instead focus on strange paranormal phenomena such as watching for smoke, Buddha lights, illusionary shadows, floating clouds and their color changes, and indications from dreams for the purpose of collecting offerings and in exchange for money and sexual favors. Also, one should not abandon the regular practice of cultivation to perform empowerment and medical treatment. People engage in such acts are witch doctors, fortune tellers, and swindlers. They are not Buddhist cultivators! Regardless of who this elder rinpoche is, if he falls into three or more erroneous views or one or more evil views of the 128 views, this rinpoche is a person who violated the precepts or an evil master!  Original question from the letter receivedThere is another master who told us not to go to learn the dharma from His Holiness the Buddha on December 4, 2013, when H.H. Reply with validationAny master who obstructs cultivators to learn the Dharma of Meditation transmitted by His Holiness the Buddha and demands his or her disciples to give up learning the Dharma of Meditation taught by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has no immeasurable merit to speak of. Rather, this person has committed endless sins and bad karmas. Anyone who followed this evil master must immediately leave and repent. Otherwise one is certain to meet with sinful retributions and may even suffer in the hell realm! This master is an evil master and demonic person without doubt!  Original question from the letter receivedMay we ask whether a holy one who is at the level of having one Sun-Moon wheel isa Bodhisattva or an Arhat?  Reply with validationIf a holy and virtuous one attained the level of one Sun-Moon wheel by passing the examination proctored by seventeen dharma masters with holy and virtuous ones among them and a public audience, and the seventeen proctors took their oaths against severe consequences to guarantee the truthfulness of what happened during the examination, he or she is generally at a level between the first-stage Arhat and the fourth-stage Arhat but can possibly be a Bodhisattva. However, you all must know a fact clearly. That is, it is difficult to find a holy and virtuous one at the level of one Sun-Moon wheel among ten thousand dharma kings, venerable ones, rinpoches, and dharma masters. Remember, this is a probability of one in ten thousand!  Original question from the letter receivedWe know that H.H. Reply with validationH.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said that He is a humble one, is just a servant of you all, does not possess the qualification to take the examination for a certificate of holiness and virtue, does not have such abilities, and therefore is not an extremely holy and virtuous one at the level of having five Sun-Moon wheels. The certificate He holds is one for devoting His three karmas of body, speech, and mind to serving the interests of living beings with humble speech and conduct.

The various certificates of holiness and virtue established by the United International World Buddhist Association Headquarters (UIWBAH) is a system of quantitative measurement and appraising for Buddhists to clearly understand in a simple way the differences between the statuses of Bodhisattvas, Arhats, and holy ones as well as the inability of ordinary beings faking as holy ones. Specifically, extremely great holy and virtuous ones who are reincarnations of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva and Manjushri Bodhisattva should be at the level of having five Sun-Moon wheels. They are ancient Buddhas Who stepped down with vows to propagate Buddha-dharma and benefit living beings in this world with the statuses of Bodhisattvas. Master Padmasambhava, Master Tsongkhapa, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva should be roughly between the levels of having four Sun-Moon wheels and having three Sun-Moon wheels.

A certificate of holiness and virtue is used to provide to you all an evidence to distinguish the true or false and the particular level of a master, is just a few sheets of paper, and does not have any effect of empowerment. The power of empowerment can only be generated by one’s true cultivation and carrying out the conduct of a Bodhisattva to benefit the great masses. Of course, speaking from its real nature and significance, a certificate of holiness and virtue possesses the greatest power of empowerment to people who are in search of a master and Buddha-dharma! Why do we emphasize hanging the certificate of holiness and virtue at the front of the dharma rostrum to let people all see? In reality, hanging the certificate of holiness and virtue at the front of the dharma rostrum publicly to let people all examine is not for showing off what status this holy and virtuous one has. Rather, the purpose is to let you all inspect and distinguish whether the certificate holder is genuine or fake. With the information obtained from the certificate, you can inquire to the UIWBAH to confirm whether the certificate is genuine or fake, whether this master exaggerated or used a fake certificate to pose as a holy one. Being a false holy and virtuous one or holding a counterfeit certificate of holiness and virtue, a swindler or evil master will not dare to hang the certificate at the dharma rostrum. Even if a counterfeit certificate is hung at the dharma rostrum to have a deceiving effect temporarily, once the truth is revealed, the original nature of a swindler will be exposed immediately. Therefore, swindlers and evil masters can only use their documents of recognition to support themselves. If they can only verbally claim themselves to be the reincarnations of some amazingly great figures, the reincarnations of some great Bodhisattvas, or some earth-shaking great holy persons but cannot show people their certificates of holiness and virtue that great holy persons should have, it is natural to see that they are fakes. Thus, this measure can prevent swindlers, evil masters, and fake holy ones from claiming the status of a holy and virtuous one. Therefore, hanging the certificate of holiness and virtue at the dharma rostrum is to truly benefit the great masses and to prevent the great masses from entering the wrong paths. This is the best stipulation of Buddha-dharma to benefit living beings and provides great empowerment to Buddhist disciples when they search for fine masters.

However, a holy and virtuous one’s certificate of holiness and virtue is issued after the facts were investigated and confirmed by three masters and seven witnesses. This is equivalent to canonization of saints by Catholics. The canonization of a saint undergoes investigation and confirmation.

A more formal and official certificate of holiness and virtue is issued after an examination proctored by seven masters and ten witnesses on the spot and the seven masters and ten witnesses took their oaths against severe consequences for the holy and virtuous one who passed the examination to guarantee his or her true power of realization that manifests his or her accomplishment of virtue and holy capability. A holy and virtuous one determined in this method is genuine without doubt. However, most people do not want to apply for taking the examination proctored by seven masters and ten witnesses, because, without a confidence of ninety percent, one has the concern of not passing the annual reexamination next year. The annual reexamination is required for checking if this holy and virtuous one has receded from the previously attained realization due to violating the precepts. A holy and virtuous one who failed the annual reexamination is definitely a person who receded from holiness and became a mundane one again!

Why should examinations of holiness and virtue be held? This is because more than ninety percent of the masters in the world are false masters, swindlers, and evil masters, or people who simply do not know Buddhism, the study of Buddhism, and Buddha-dharma. They all falsely claim themselves to be eminent monks and holy ones. That is inspecting the certificate of holiness and virtue is very important to cultivators who are seeking a master.

Only holy and virtuous ones who are at the levels of three Sun-Moon wheels or higher will not recede from their attained statuses. Other than them, masters with certificates of holiness and virtue, masters who are eminent monks and great virtuous ones, ordinary masters, and cultivators should all be observed and validated using the 128 views to judge if they have fallen into the 128 views. However, as of now, there has not been even one holy and virtuous one at the level of three Sun-Moon wheels or higher who is propagating Buddha-dharma publicly in this world yet.  Original question from the letter receivedHow can we distinguish a holy person who is a true reincarnation of a Bodhisattva? Is it true that recognition(s) by famous great dharma king(s) and/or or great lama(s) can accurately determine if one is a true reincarnation of a holy one? Or is a recognition proven by supernatural power even more accurate?  Reply with validationThere are two types of ways to distinguish holy persons who are truly reincarnations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, sensing and viewing with worldly dharma and validation with Buddha-dharma.

Based on sensing and viewing with worldly dharma, this person must be wholeheartedly devoted to the public without selfishness, always benefit others, strictly uphold the precepts, and cultivate diligently. If distinguishing a reincarnation of a great Bodhisattva, in addition to seeing the above necessary conditions from sensing and viewing, this person must also have complete proficiency in exoteric and esoteric Buddhism and possess complete and full mastery of the Five Vidyas. The conclusion can be reached by verifying through each category and each Vidya. The mastery of a Vidya means surpassing the level of experts in the respective field. Otherwise, one is just at a level of commonplace, not possessing the Five Vidyas.

Common knowledge of validation with Buddha-dharma includes: If this reincarnated one self-posed as a holy one at the level of a Bodhisattva, since this master dared to self-pose as a great holy and virtuous one, this master must dare to apply for holding a dharma assembly of Selection Made in Dark Confinement from One-Hundred Dharmas to Choose the Door toward Enlightenment to confirm himself, in order to let people all see and have the peace of mind. Then people will all know whether he belongs to Arhats, Bodhisattvas, ordinary people, swindlers, or evil masters. If he dared to pose as a Bodhisattva or a great holy one in front of his disciples but dares not to apply for the opportunity to practice the dharma of Selection Made in Dark Confinement publicly to let people all see and determine the facts and truth, all he could do is boasting a status of a Bodhisattva or holy one. Then this master definitely belongs to the category of evil ones or swindlers.

However, the dharma of Selection Made in Dark Confinement cannot determine whether one is a great Bodhisattva at the level of three Sun-Moon wheels or higher or not. The determination must be done through a selection by divine forecasting on the spot to prove to people that one is a so-and-so Bodhisattva with a specific name. Otherwise one is not the great Bodhisattva. In this case, the person to be recognized must make a divine forecasting to prove his or her status of a Bodhisattva. The forecast is not made by the extremely great holy and virtuous one who is in charge of the mandala. The mandala of divine forecasting is guarded by great dharma protectors such as Skanda, Ekajati, Mahakala, and others. Therefore, false Bodhisattvas, swindlers, demonic persons, and vicious devils won’t be able to fake being Bodhisattvas.

The dharma of Divine Forecasting can also be used to forecast the reincarnation of an Arhat, or to determine practical situations such as whether one is an evil master, a swindler, or a vicious devil or not, and whether one has certain karmic impediments or not. In these types of situations, the prediction is made by the extremely great holy and virtuous one who is in charge of the mandala for the person to be recognized.

Except determined by Divine Forecasting, no manifested state by realization of supernatural power can be used as a conclusive standard to determine the status of a great Bodhisattva at the level of three Sun-Moon wheels or higher. In Divine Forecasting, the forecast is a self-declaration made publicly before eminent monks and great virtuous ones by the person in the matter who dared to declare his/her status of a great Bodhisattva. An analogy is given here for example. Suppose one who has the status of a dharma king or similar dares to declare oneself as a so-and-so great Bodhisattva, then this person has to predict publicly at what time to the hour and minute what bird(s) and how many will fly through the sky here.

Also, to actually prove the self-declaration of a so-and-so great Bodhisattva, dharma masters and rinpoches can write down the name of this Bodhisattva as well as the names of some other Bodhisattvas. The names of all these Bodhisattvas will be numbered. Then these numbers will be written on to small pieces of paper of the exact same number. Another group of dharma masters and/or rinpoches will nub these small pieces of paper into wads. Then this person who made the self-declaration of a great Bodhisattva will draw one wad from a golden vase without being able to look. The number drawn must match the number corresponding to the Bodhisattva he/she declared. The paper drawn will be made into a wad again and put back into the golden vase for drawing again. The drawing will be done three times and only this correct one can be drawn. No error is allowed in the consecutive drawings. Since one dares to tell people in the world that he/she is a reincarnation of a great Bodhisattva or a great holy one, then one should and must make a divine forecast publicly to let people all see to prove what Bodhisattva one is.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “It is true that my name is Dorje Chang Buddha III. However, I am not a great Bodhisattva. I am a humble one. I am like you all and am cultivating in accord with the dharma and follow the teaching. I am not a bit higher than you all. Therefore, I do not have the ability to do divine forecasting to prove myself to be a great Bodhisattva. Thus, I am a servant humbly serving living beings. I made my vow to bear all dark karmas and sins of living beings and give all my merit to living beings.” However, people who met or know about His Holiness the Buddha all know that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s extremely holy accomplishments of a Buddha with totally coherent and perfect teaching throughout both exoteric and esoteric Buddhism and complete and perfect mastery of the Five Vidyas are truly unprecedented in history. Still, He puts Himself at the same position as that of a cultivator.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III also said, “The status of a great Bodhisattva has nothing to do with me. In this world of ours, there is only one supreme leader of Buddhism of the earthly realm–Sakyamuni Buddha. No one is a Buddha or a great Bodhisattva. Anyone being called a great Bodhisattva is deceiving. If you do not believe so, you can investigate and check the facts. The result will be that he has absolutely nothing to do with the realization and conditions of a Bodhisattva. Therefore, the only big thing you need to do is to act like me to be a humble cultivator and learn Buddhism and cultivate earnestly.”

His Holiness the Buddha’s statement greatly moved us. The supreme and genuinely great His Holiness the Buddha even puts Himself at the position of a living being. To anyone, if you insist on regarding yourself as the reincarnation of a great holy one, you should prove your status through making a divine forecasting publicly. Otherwise you are a swindler without a doubt.

To determine the status of a reincarnated one at the level of an Arhat or a Bodhisattva at or below the tenth stage with one-hundred-percent certainty, the dharma of Selection Made in Dark Confinement from One-Hundred Dharmas to Choose the Door toward Enlightenment must be practiced in public to make the correct selection (please see the book Revealing the Truth written by Dharma Master Shi Zheng Hui for detailed information about the dharma of Selection Made in Dark Confinement from One-Hundred Dharmas to Choose the Door toward Enlightenment). Other than using this dharma, the status of an Arhat or a Bodhisattva determined by any other type of realization or supernatural state will not be accurate.

Regarding the recognition of a rinpoche, it can be done through inviting a great holy and virtuous one with Sun-Moon wheel(s) to practice the dharma of Duhsiong Vajra who is a dharma protector responsible for viewing karmic causes. The rinpoche’s identity is searched by conducting the viewing in public. This method is certain to determine which rinpoche’s reincarnation one is, but cannot determine the identity of a specific Arhat or Bodhisattva definitely. As to the status of a rinpoche recognized by a great dharma king, a great lama, or a great rinpoche using the methods of dropping divine pieces, receiving indication through a dream, viewing the sacred lake, rotating a tsampa ball, or lot drawing from a golden vase, the result can only be regarded as a primitive reference with an accuracy of 40-50 percent and cannot be used to determine whether one is the true incarnation (of the perceived holy one). Rinpoches in the current world are basically all recognized by this type of uncertain artificial methods.  Original question from the letter receivedSome master(s) said that only esoteric Buddhism can lead to the accomplishments of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and that the highest accomplishment from cultivating exoteric Buddhism is becoming an Arhat, not a Bodhisattva. Is this correct?  Reply with validationAll dharmas expounded by Sakyamuni Buddha belong to genuine and true Buddha-dharma, provided they were translated correctly! The same is true with regard to dharmas expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Among dharmas transmitted by a Buddha, there is no differentiation as to which sect is higher than another. If you talk about the dharma for become liberated and attaining Buddhahood in the current lifetime, such a dharma is non-existent in either esoteric Buddhism or exoteric Buddhism, because even Maitreya Bodhisattva has not attained Buddhahood yet. Maitreya Bodhisattva will become the next Buddha among the one thousand Buddhas of the current Wise Kalpa (Bhadrakalpa).

Some people of esoteric Buddhism declare everywhere that they possess the dharma of attaining Buddhahood in the current lifetime. In the end, none of the dharma kings, venerable ones, great rinpoches who made such a declaration attained Buddhahood when their lives ended. However, both esoteric Buddhism and exoteric Buddhism can let one successfully cultivate to the holy realization of a Bodhisattva. The key is not which sect one is in. Rather, the important point is whether one has learned true Buddha-dharma or not, and whether one accomplished the speech and conduct of a Bodhisattva in accord with the dharma or not.

It is worth noting that, in the past, Tibetan esoteric Buddhism emphasized relatively more on the study of treatises and commentaries and adopted a rigid and hard system of debating sutras to enforce people’s learning. As of now, this tradition is still carried out in some temples. On the contrary, debating sutras is generally not done in exoteric Buddhism. However, to become an Arhat or a Bodhisattva, in addition to enter deeply into the Tripitaka of Sutras, Viyanas, and Sastras (Commentaries), one must cultivate and learn the dharma. The possibility is absolutely none without cultivation and learning the dharma! Esoteric Buddhism accomplished Bodhisattvas and Arhats in the past but now has produced more swindlers and evil masters than exoteric Buddhism. Even some famous dharma kings and great rinpoches of some well-known temples can possibly be swindlers. Of course, exoteric Buddhism also has quite some swindlers and evil masters. It is particularly notable that in today’s world many figures in society who absolutely do not know Buddhism, the study of Buddhism, and Buddha-dharma even sneaked into the Buddhist world and became rinpoches. This is simply Buddhism’s era of being infested by demonic persons and swindlers. That is why there exists an ancient saying of “Many monks and Daoist practitioners end up in the hell realm.”

In reality, many rinpoches and dharma masters in today’s society are essentially amateurs to Buddhism. They are only at the level of a student of basic study of Buddhism and simply do not possess the qualifications of a master. They can only learn from Sakyamuni Buddha’s sutras and listen to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Therefore, they are leading people to listen to the dharma and are called masters of dharma-listening sessions. A master of dharma-listening sessions means this master is with others, is learning, and must listen to the dharma. They are people who lead others to listen to the dharma and are called masters of dharma-listening. Although they are taking students through holding refuge ceremonies and holding initiations and teaching dharmas to cultivators, they are not masters of holding initiations and teaching dharmas per se. Actually, even some figures possessing titles of dharma king, venerable one, great Rinpoche, great dharma master and holding initiations are just a master of dharma-listening sessions in terms of one’s nature and realization!

You all should pay special attention. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “Practitioners of esoteric Buddhism cannot say that esoteric Buddhism is higher than exoteric Buddhism. Nor can practitioners of exoteric Buddhism say that exoteric Buddhism is higher than esoteric Buddhism. The key is to see who learned the dharma correctly, who cultivates well, and who is carrying out the speech and conduct of a great Bodhisattva, is in accord with Sakyamuni Buddha’s teaching and precepts, and additionally has deep mastery of prajna as well as holds true Buddha-dharma. One who meets these criteria is truly at a high level.”  Original question from the letter receivedAccording to public announcements from the Office, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III does not receive and meet those who follow evil masters and swindlers without wanting to leave. Why?  Reply with validationAll evildoers and swindlers have the goals of deceiving and harming others and embezzling other people’s interests. The type of people you mentioned all belong to the category of people who have fallen into the 128 views and do not repent and correct. Rather, these people will continue to assist evil masters to destroy living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom. They do not try to find out whether their master is a great virtuous one or an ordinary person and, if this master holds a certificate of holiness and virtue, whether the certificate is genuine or fake, what star wheel and how many star wheels this certificate has, whether this certificate was issued by three masters and seven witnesses or by seven masters and ten witnesses, and when the certificate was issued. Before you have the opportunity to meet and pay homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, you will be asked by monastic monk(s) or nun(s). If you are not able to answer these questions, that means you are irresponsible to yourself, your attitude is that you do not care about if you are following an evil master or a swindler, you are willing to be cheated, and thus you do not have the bodhicitta of saving yourself. If you are not compassionate to yourself, you are not in a position to talk about benefiting others. Also, one will not be received without making arrangement to schedule an appointment in advance.

Additionally, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III will not receive one who found that he or she was affiliated with a person who belongs to one of the three types of persons and did not break away or only broke away from that person after a period of time. This is because one acts this way does not try to distinguish what is good and what is bad, has a mentality of taking a chance, and intends to assist the evil and destroy the good. Such a person has serious problems in his or her good roots and does not possess good karmic conditions. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “Even if I receive him or her, such a person would not be able to learn the dharma. It is better not to meet. Let him or her engage in abstaining from everything that is evil and doing everything that is good and chanting the Buddha’s name wholeheartedly.”  Original question from the letter receivedNow many people have been recognized as rinpoches. Are these recognitions approved by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III?  Reply with validationAll these rinpoches are not reincarnated ones recognized by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. That is why H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has never written documents of recognition for these rinpoches to determine whom a rinpoche was reincarnated from. In other words, as of now, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has not written even one document of recognition since He came to this world. Regarding rinpoches and dharma masters, whether they are truly cultivating themselves is not reflected in their statuses of reincarnation. Rather, the 128 views should be used for comparison to check whether they are up to the standards or not and whether they have fallen into erroneous views and evil views or not. That can tell whether their statuses are true or false.  Original question from the letter receivedIs the level of rinpoche higher than that of dharma master by two levels?  Reply with validationEven if a rinpoche is a reincarnation of a genuine figure in esoteric Buddhism or a reincarnation of a well-known dharma king or venerable one, it still cannot be said that this rinpoche is definitely is at a higher level than that of dharma masters of exoteric Buddhism. Whether one is at a high level or not is not determined from a rinpoche’s or dharma master’s status or the title of abbot. Rather, it should be determined from whether one truly benefits the great masses and acts truly in accord with the Buddha’s teaching. Moreover, there are too many people in Tibet who put up the flags of dharma kings, venerable ones, and rinpoches and hold documents of recognition in their hands. Among them, there are many swindlers who claim to hold the lineages of great dharmas. On the other hand, many people attained accomplishment by cultivating exoteric Buddhism. Therefore, whether one is high or low cannot be determined from the status of a rinpoche of esoteric Buddhism or a dharma master of exoteric Buddhism. Rather, it should be measured by criteria of authentic Buddhism. One who truly abides by the precepts, cultivates oneself, and learns Buddhism in accord with the dharma is high. One who deviates from true cultivation is low.  Original question from the letter receivedWe are Buddhist disciples engaging in cultivation, learning Buddhism, and good conduct.

Reply with validationOur Office made public announcements on the related issues long ago. We reiterate what was stated once again today: Regardless of who said that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III called or gave a message to tell him or her to do what, you should always contact the Office immediately to confirm whether this is true or not, including who may be coming to you to do what. If you do not get the truth from the Office and just believe what other people said, you will very likely be cheated. As to the fund raising to build the academy of the Four Books and Five Sutras that you mentioned to have caused great pressure to a lot of people, it truly went in the opposite direction of Buddhist cultivation. A cultivator can only help others to relieve their pressure and must not pressure others. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III does not know clearly who did what in this matter, because He did not take part in it. You must know very clearly about a fact. His Holiness the Buddha handles dharma affairs of Buddhism. Moreover, what He does is to bring you all happiness, good fortune, and benefits, and is not applying pressure to you. His Holiness the Buddha absolutely will not do anything that is not beneficial to others!!!  Original question from the letter receivedAlso, some master once told us that, no matter what, if one has taken an oath in a tantric mandala to pledge loyalty to him, changing one’s mind afterwards to retreat from the oath would certainly meet with the vicious retribution mentioned in the oath. However, if this master is a swindler or an evil master, will our disloyalty to him cause vicious retribution too? On the one hand, violating the oath would cause vicious retributions. On the other hand, we cannot continue to follow an evil master. What should we do?  Reply with validationAn oath taken before Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to benefit the great masses should be carried out and fulfilled. However, in the opposite situation, an oath intended for selfishness, anger and hatred, greed, and harming the interests of cultivators and living beings, no matter when and where it was taken, absolutely must not carried out or fulfilled. One not only must not fulfill such an oath, but also must completely repent the sin of assisting the evil to destroy the good. In particular, an oath taken to a swindler or an evil master must be removed right away! Being disloyal to what is evil is turning away from the evil and pursuing goodness. Doing so not only is free of dark karma but also is meritorious.

However, some people still have the lingering fear of encountering the retribution from the oath taken. For safety and peace of mind, one who had impediment due to having taken an oath toward the evil can eliminate the vow made using Kuan Yin Bodhisattva’s Removing Oath Dharma:

In front of a worshipping statue or portrait of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, the practitioner first chants the Six-Character Great Bright Mantra 108 times or more. Then one immediately states a message to the Bodhisattva: My so-and-so oath was taken at a temple, before a swindler or evil master, or before a so-and-so fellow brother/sister. Because the oath I took belongs to evil speech and conduct, or this evil master is not a true cultivator or is a person who has receded from holiness to an ordinary being with evil views and whose conduct is unfavorable to living beings, I now clearly know the facts and do not wish to assist the evil to destroy the good. I respectfully beseech Namo Kuan Yin Bodhisattva to eliminate this oath of mine that does not represent correct views and turn it to ignorance and let it vanish. At this time, chant “Om, Ah, Hum” three times and then chant the Wish-Fulfilling Mantra seven times.

Then, the oath taken previously will have its seed removed and will vanish without a trace. Once you practice this dharma, not only there will not be vicious retributions, but also the fruit of correcting the sin and accomplishing the good will be produced.

However, you must know that oaths taken to do things that benefit living beings, do goodness and break away from the evil, and propagate and publicize authentic Buddha-dharma must be carried out and fulfilled and must not be removed. Removing a good oath means going into vicious karmas and will make one sinful. Therefore, one can only practice this dharma to remove oaths related to evil things and evil persons or harming the interests of the great masses.  Original question from the letter receivedAdditionally, a master of dharma-listening sessions said that the important dharma lesson expounded by H.H. Reply with validationAll Buddhists should respectively listen to the recorded dharma lesson published on January 19, 2014. This dharma lesson benefits all living beings. Only evil masters, vicious disciples, and swindlers will fear when listening to this dharma lesson. Moreover, they are even more fearful to let others listen. This is because this dharma lesson provides cultivators a devil-revealing mirror. After listening to it and remembering the contents, one will possess a devil-revealing mirror and can use it to show the original nature of certain types of swindlers and demonic persons. Therefore, people who have improper speeches and conduct do not wish other people to listen to it. Additionally, they fear that people may hear about this dharma lesson. As a result, the only option they have is to do all they can to prevent Buddhists or their fellow brothers/sisters from having access to this dharma lesson and to suppress people from listening using various ways and excuses.  Original question from the letter receivedI beseech the holy and virtuous ones at the Office to take the trouble to provide validations of the following ironclad stipulations that we have:

Reply with validationSpeaking of the rules of how Buddhists should treat their masters, an overriding principle must be established first. That is: is this person a master who is a reincarnation of a great holy and virtuous Arhat or Bodhisattva, an ordinary master, or a person who is a great virtuous one by name but actually is a swindler. Before determining the nature of a master, Buddhists cannot pay homage to treat this master as a holy one. This is because there are many kinds of masters. Fields of industry, agriculture, art, science, literature, math, physics, study of the nature, and so on all have their own masters. Professions of forecasting based on word analysis, fortune-telling, the philosophy of Yin and Yang, Feng Shui (geomancy), witchcraft, thievery, swindling, and others also have their own masters. Just within Buddhism, there are many categories of masters, such as masters who give common verbal teachings, masters who are great virtuous ones and eminent monks, masters who are reincarnations of Arhats and Bodhisattvas, and masters who are heretics using the name of Buddhism including demonic evildoers, swindlers, people who play superstitious tricks, and so on ……

Those who are masters should clearly understand that, regardless of how high your status and identity as a master is, you are predestined to be doubted and verified by your students and disciples. Without conducting observation and verification, how could a disciple distinguish who is upright and who is evil, and, how could one make a responsible decision to the second half of one’s lifetime or even one’s entire lifetime? Shouldn’t one choose an eminent monk or great virtuous one who truly knows Buddha-dharma as one’s master? Should one just believe someone’s self-boasting that he could only be found in heaven and holds the highest lineage of Buddha-dharma in the world as true without making real observation?

It should be clear that how to carry out the loyalty to a master must be established on the premise that this master is a holy one or Bodhisattva or is one who strictly abides by the teaching and is engaging in true cultivation to benefit others. A master who met the above criteria must also follow Sakyamuni Buddha’s teaching and use the 128 views for caution in one’s conduct. Conversely, if a master is found to be not proficient in the sutras, have no knowledge about true Buddha-dharma, or even belongs to swindlers and evil masters, the disciples of this master must leave the master thoroughly. Otherwise the disciples will effectively become evildoers who are accomplices of this master.

It is because there are too many evil swindlers causing upheavals in the world that those who are disciples must discern. A master should also differentiate his or her disciples. That is why H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III published the 128 views, to let cultivators conduct verification and validation of masters, of disciples if they are masters, and of all cultivators, to ponder, raise questions and doubt, and compare, so that they can distinguish what is correct and what is evil and then choose whom to rely on and follow and whom to leave.

A true holy and virtuous master who cultivates well will not have a selfish mind or impure thoughts. How could a master carelessly fabricate and teach his or her own false Buddha-dharma, and even create some written rules that do not conform to the Buddha’s teaching and violate the code of Buddhism to control his or her disciples to prohibit their questioning and examination? As masters, you should not think too shallowly and be too simple-minded. You should very clearly know the answer to a serious question. The purpose of a Buddhist’s taking refuge in and learning Buddhism is to acquire perfect good fortune and wisdom and become a holy one. Can a person who wants to attain accomplishment and liberation light-heartedly bet one’s future and everything on a master he does not know clearly without analyzing and observing this master’s mentality, virtue, ability, and teaching for several years to reach a conclusion of whether this master is upright or evil and is meritorious or faulty? Perhaps a person happens to be low in intelligence and may possibly fool around with a swindler or an evil master. Still, this person will wake up someday. Therefore, masters should clearly know a fact. Only if you are a true Arhat or Bodhisattva, or a true cultivator whose deeds are in accord with the dharma and the precepts, and your speech and conduct does not fall into the 128 views, will your disciples follow and learn from you forever.

Cultivators who are disciples should be especially cautious and on alert. Masters at any levels are not authorized to define rules and ordinances to restrict their disciples. If a master out of good intention and ignorance already defined rules and ordinances, they should be removed immediately. Disciples must use the 128 views to verify and validate masters. If a master is found to have three or more violations and does not repent and correct after being warned, cultivators should leave this master now.

There is another matter that you should know. Some people quote out of context from the recorded dharma lessons to set their rules and ordinances and to make their so-called discourses. Doing so is sinful! Why don’t we permit copying and duplicating the recorded dharma lessons? Why don’t we allow masters to give discourses? This is because we are concerned that some people will edit the recorded dharma lessons or make up their own lies and evil statements to hurt living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom. This is already a very serious problem of poisonously harming the great masses in today’s Buddhist realm. For instance, some masters’ speeches and deeds as well as the discourses they gave mentioned in the ten letters in the validations of facts published here are already totally evil views and poisonous conduct and teaching that advocate the evil and suppress the good, and go completely opposite to Sakyamuni Buddha’s teaching and precepts.

As another example, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “True cultivation and learning Buddhism does not ask you to hand your money and properties to your master to create merit and the holy cause of liberation. Rather, you shall truly cultivate, truly act in accord with the precepts, truly possess the mind practice of enlightenment, and truly selflessly benefit the great masses with the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Only doing so is the holy cause for advancing on the path toward accomplishment and liberation.” However, some masters said when giving discourses to their disciples: A true cultivator should first offer money and properties to one’s master to the greatest extent. Only doing so expresses the sincerity toward Buddha-dharma and has boundless merit. Without sincerely making offerings to your master, you will not become accomplished no matter how you cultivate and what dharma you practice.

In other examples, some dharma kings and dharma masters said that exoteric Buddhism does not have true Buddha-dharma and only esoteric Buddhism has true Buddha-dharma to attain accomplishment. Also, a master said that living beings were Buddhas since the beginning-less time and they devolved into living beings due to the arising of ignorance and afflictions. Such nonsenses with very little knowledge and understanding are simply demonic masters’ evil and inferior conduct of slandering the Buddha and slandering the dharma. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “How can this kind of so-called master give discourses? What they said is nothing other than cruelly harming the great masses. Esoteric Buddhism and exoteric Buddhism both have Buddha-dharma. Only by cultivating in accord with the dharma and abiding by the precepts can one attain accomplishment. Otherwise one will not become accomplished regardless of which sect one learns from. Since the beginning-less time, living beings inherently possess the Buddha nature that is not any different from that of a Buddha. However, because ignorance and afflictions that have existed since the beginning-less time covered up and obstructed the Buddha nature that neither produces nor diminishes, living beings are unable to see the Buddha nature and have never become Buddhas all along. It is not true that living beings were Buddhas earlier and later devolved into living beings. If a Buddha would devolve into a living being, what is the use of learning Buddha-dharma? This is because someday Amitabha Buddha and Sakyamuni Buddha would have ignorance and afflictions arising in Them and They would devolve into living beings. Isn’t such nonsense by a master without learning doing damages to the true dharma of the Tathagata?

How could such discourses belong to the dharma of Buddhism, and how could they benefit the great masses? These are completely statements of a cult!!! How can they be permitted to give discourses? That is why H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III stated that those who are not qualified are not allowed to give discourses. If they got the permission to give discourses, Buddhism in this world would be in total disorder and would become a cult entirely. Even so, there already exist countless people in society who use words in the Buddha’s speeches to give discourses of evil dogmas. Therefore, we must listen to the recorded dharma lessons in their entirety. For example, masters referred to by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are holy and virtuous masters who are Arhats and Bodhisattvas or masters who are eminent monks and great virtuous ones of Buddhism and who abide by the precepts and act in accord with the dharma. In other words, these masters do not fall into the 128 views. The meaning should not be distorted by stretching the word of “master” from the recorded dharma lessons. Anyone who quotes from the recorded dharma lessons out of the context has incorrect knowledge and views. One who commits such faults seriously is acting out of evil views. Anyone who has such violations must repent immediately and thoroughly correct the faults. Otherwise one is certain to meet with crippling retributions!

Take the statement of “impure karmas due to ignorance and self-based views should not arise. Otherwise, one must repent on the same day and swear not to violate again. Violating again will destine one not to attain accomplishment” mentioned in your letter as another example. You first should learn and understand what self-based views are. Self-based views are phenomena rising from being attached to (or grasping) the self. How can ordinary cultivators stop them from arising? They can only do their best and eventually must cutoff the attachment to the self. If one can truly achieve repenting the fault on the same day and never violating again, this person would become an Arhat on that day! It is necessary to let cultivators practice cutting off self-attachment. However, it is absolutely impossible to make them repent the fault on the same day and never have self-based views rise again.

Many masters are fond of controlling their disciples and they set up various kinds of tracks to do that. In reality, no methods can control people. This is because a deed of controlling people does not belong to the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Rather, it is an ordinary person’s sheer imagination and unilateral wish. Therefore, whatever methods of swearing and restricting with ordinances made of prejudices cannot control people! The key is that the master must truly benefit living beings and establish the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Even if you expel your disciples, they will not leave you. You do not want a person to be nice to you but he will insist on being nice to you. The reason is that the 128 views that summarily capture the precious essence of the Tripitaka and play the role of a bright light for finding directions can serve as a demon-revealing mirror for all cultivators!

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III once said, “A Buddhist disciple’s taking refuge before any master or dharma master does not mean that he must be loyal to you as his master and follow you forever, unless you are really a master reincarnated from an Arhat or a Bodhisattva. Even so, since you are not a Bodhisattva at a non-returning state, the disciple has to check if you as his master have fallen into the 128 views. Disciples must observe you masters’ speeches and conduct, and should leave you if your speeches and conduct are not in accord with the Buddha’s teaching. However, once having entered an inner-tantric initiation, a disciple must honestly and sincerely treat the master who taught you, but still has to use the 128 views to distinguish whether the master is upright or evil. Upon finding that the master is evil or has receded from holiness to turn into an ordinary person and carelessly expounds Buddha-dharma like an amateur, the disciple should also leave. I am a humble one. If you see that I do not know Buddhism, the study of Buddhism, and Buddha-dharma, I do not know the first principle of Buddhism that is the absolute truth to liberate living beings, or my speech and conduct are not like that of a cultivator, you should just leave me. This is because, with the fact of not knowing Buddha-dharma and my speech and conduct not in accord with the practice required by the dharma of the Tathagata, I am not in a position to teach you. In addition, my entire body and mind are in the structures of a humble one or, in a word, inferior. Therefore, I Dorje Chang Buddha III am also a cultivator whom you all should observe. I am just a humble one and your servant.

Though H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said so, cultivators not only do not leave, but also are extremely respectful to His Holiness the Buddha. The key is that the speeches and deeds of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are transparent and unselfish. His body, mind and all manifestations represent the perfect presence of a Buddha. The more Buddhists observe, the closer they become to His Holiness the Buddha. That is why cultivators do not leave even after being scolded and become more and more respectful to His Holiness the Buddha. In particular, those who have been with His Holiness the Buddha for a long period of time such as ten years or twenty years are all full of praises and completely in admiration!!! This fact is so worthy of pondering. Masters, how is your situation? You should think seriously and over and over again!

We would like to remind you all a fact. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III expounded the dharma long ago focusing on the issue of those who have the statuses and identities of masters defining precepts and rules baselessly on their own. People can hear this teaching in the recorded dharma lessons. Making and defining precepts belongs to the business of Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas. None of the masters who are not great Bodhisattvas at the level of three Sun-Moon wheels or higher have the qualification to give discourses. Moreover, using the recorded dharma lessons expounded by His Holiness the Buddha and quoting out of context to stretch from His Holiness the Buddha’s original meaning to create precepts and rules is an act of disturbing and confusing True Buddha-dharma! One who had violation(s) in this aspect must deeply repent and correct right away! By facing disciples honestly and sincerely, with great compassion, and through benefiting others selflessly and practicing true Buddha-dharma, a master will naturally enjoy prosperity in dharma affairs and make magnificent advancement toward enlightenment!

As to other rules you listed, lying is not something that any person should do. A cultivator must have bodhicitta. One has to cutoff ignorance and afflictions day by day through self-cultivation and dharma practice, until becoming a great Bodhisattva or even a Buddha. One should never be loyal to a master who violated the complete set of Grand Precepts awarded in three dharma assemblies. The rules and ordinances established by such masters may be correct or incorrect. However, without the need to considering whether they are correct or not, masters do not have the qualifications to define rules and ordinances to prohibit or restrict their disciples. Stipulating precepts belongs to things Buddhas and Bodhisattvas do. People who are masters are not in a position to do so.

Our Office must mention some facts. Before publishing this validation of facts from letters received, some masters defined rules and ordinances that are incorrect. However, once they realized, they immediately and spontaneously corrected and repented. That belongs to good and beneficial deeds. On the contrary, some people who have the titles of masters are still using evil views to control cultivators and continue to deceive their disciples as of now. This is truly hateful! Therefore, any master who committed faults and sins and does not repent must be a demonic person. Cultivators should immediately leave him or her upon knowing this fact.  Original question from the letter receivedOur master now established a dharma lesson service center and said that the dharma lesson service center can represent the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to handle matters related to the recorded dharma lessons. Is this true? Does this mean that the dharma lesson service center is authorized to copy the recorded dharma lessons and then we should just request and receive the dharma lessons from the dharma lesson service center?  Reply with validationMany rinpoches and dharma masters established their own dharma lesson service centers. Some are named “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Dharma Lesson Service Center.” Regardless of what their names are, the mission of these dharma lesson service centers is to improve the development of dharma-listening centers and help dharma-listening centers check whether the recorded dharma lessons have been distorted or altered or not and whether obstruction was done due to being taken out of context or not. Your dharma lesson service center should contact other dharma lesson service centers that are not affiliated with your master to confirm. The best way is to get confirmation from the International Buddhism Sangha Association (IBSA) to make sure that the dharma lessons are correct and without being altered. At the same time, you should check to see if any evil master is doing the inferior conduct of making copies of the dharma lessons privately to do damage to the dharma lessons. Additionally, the service center should also find out which dharma-listening centers are using the copied dharma lessons. Once dharma lessons were edited by a rinpoche or dharma master to distort the context, the dharma lessons became counterfeit. Doing so creates huge dark karmas. This master who privately copies and alters dharma lessons is an evil master without doubt. Thus, you should report to IBSA to get the correct dharma lessons.

A dharma lesson service center is not permitted to copy or burn CDs of dharma lessons. This is a very strict rule. Anyone who does so is an evil master! If you have already done copying in the past, you must stop doing so starting from today! You must also gather several members of the dharma lesson service center to bring the dharma lessons to another unaffiliated dharma-listening center to play the dharma lessons along with their dharma lessons of the same titles, to see if the lessons are in sync and have identical sentences. If problems are found, You must immediately make an urgent announcement to cultivators to let them stop using the dharma lesson(s) to prevent harming cultivators. Remember, you all must listen to the correct dharma lessons!!!

If your master does not allow you to bring the dharma lessons to other unaffiliated dharma-listening centers to verify, or another master does not allow you to go to his or her dharma-listening center to verify dharma lessons, this means this obstructing person is already an evil one. You should not have anything to do with this person! You also should inform cultivators that this person is a demonic person! Any master who does not repent and correct and rather continues to make copies of dharma lessons, regardless of whether this master is a dharma king, a venerable one, a great rinpoche, or a great dharma master, must be regarded as a demonic master and be criticized seriously by the disciples as soon as this fact is known. Moreover, disciples must leave this evil master immediately. Anyone who does not leave will never receive an initiation of great dharma from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

What is the reason for this rigorous stipulation? It is because of the possible serious consequences from the act of copying dharma lessons. One can easily carry out in the process schemes to keep what is beneficial to oneself and remove what is unfavorable to oneself. Once the contents are taken out of context, the dharma lessons will become counterfeit with evil knowledge and views and can destroy living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom. However, because the counterfeit CDs are make from editing and altering the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and are spoken with the voice of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, any distribution of such CDs in the world will cause big damages to Buddha-dharma and have devastating effects to living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom. The damages and devastation cannot be remedied by any means.

Therefore, any master who privately copied dharma lessons or altered dharma lessons must immediately repent and correct the action and give out notice to inform people not to listen to such CDs. If so, this master will be forgiven. One who does not repent and correct must be regarded as an evil master. This is similar to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s stipulation of “no one has the qualification to give discourses.” Without mentioning some specific speeches and acts that violated Buddha-dharma, teaching in the sutras, and the precepts, just look at these several tens of questions brought up in the ten letters seeking validations published here, wouldn’t permitting this kind of masters to give discourses totally harm you all?! Therefore, it is absolutely clear that masters like these can never be allowed to give discourses. Only if a master is an extremely great holy and virtuous one at the levels of having three Sun-Moon wheels or higher, can the correctness of the dharma expounded to living beings be assured to a large extent!  Original question from the letter receivedThe International Buddhism Sangha Association (IBSA) will hold H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Grand Dharma Assembly and Assembly Celebrating the First Publication of Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra on March 23, 2014 in Hong Kong. The event will become a great milestone in the history of Buddhism. The news is a supreme voice of good fortune to us Buddhist disciples.

Reply with validationThat so-called master of yours is just an ignorant amateur who has only evil views and does not have any knowledge about karmic conditions for advancement in practicing Buddha-dharma. Think about this fact. This person even dares to resist and obstruct the H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Grand Dharma Assembly. What can this master be if not an evil master with a one-hundred-percent certainty? Regardless of who this master is and what status this person has, you must criticize the evil nature of this demonic person right away, and then leave this evil master and go to other dharma-listening centers that are not affiliated with this person. Otherwise you will bear the sins and evil karmas of this person.  Original question from the letter receivedNamo Sakyamuni Buddha stated clearly in the sutras that one becomes a Bodhisattva through the Five Vidyas.

Reply with validationThe dharma expounded by the Buddha in the sutras is absolutely correct. A Bodhisattva must possess realizations in the Five Vidyas, or at least two or three of the Five Vidyas. The less manifestation of wisdom in the Five Vidyas, the lower the status of a Bodhisattva. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said, “A Bodhisattva must be proficient in exoteric and esoteric Buddhism, and possess at least one or two vidyas of the Five Vidyas. Of course, the more vidyas, the better. This is an unalterable definitive truth!

Actually, without using the definitions stated in the sutras to validate, you all can know very clearly like looking at a glance. First, you can understand that a Bodhisattva is a holy one, and when transforming from a mundane being into a holy one, one must go through the stage of opening up one’s wisdom. Moreover, a great Bodhisattva has definitely realized the wisdom of prajna. Otherwise, one cannot be a great Bodhisattva by definition. Once realized the wisdom of prajna (holy wisdom that transcends the worldly), one has surpassed the wisdom of common people with a one-hundred-percent certainty. That fact will manifest in terms of the Five Vidyas. If a dharma king, venerable one, great rinpoche, great dharma master, great layperson, or one with another title self-claimed to be a Bodhisattva but does not possess the Five Vidyas or, worse, is at a mediocre level in only one vidya and not as good as an expert among common people, this person cannot be a Bodhisattva by any chance and, rather, is absolutely a swindler!!!

In this dharma-ending era, descendants of the Mara, mountain spirits, water demons, swindlers, and evildoers put on lama’s robes and monastic gowns and sneaked into the ranks of Buddhism. They pose as reincarnations of various prominent figures to toxically harm living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom and defraud people for money. However, because they are ordinary beings with evil nature, they do not have holy wisdom, only have the intelligence of common people, and are unable to open up the superior wisdom of prajna. Thus, they cannot manifest any realization in the Five Vidyas. However, since they have no other choice, they can only bite the bullet to fabricate lies to deceive amateurs. They claimed themselves as great holy ones but are actually false holy ones and true ordinary beings.

The statuses of rinpoches recognized through the processes of Tibetan esoteric Buddhism are basically all inexact. This is because the dharmas of recognition are in general human methods! Only if obtained by practicing a holy dharma, can a recognition be one-hundred-percent correct. You can read about correct recognitions in the earlier sections of validations of facts from other letters and clearly understand the facts. Even if a rinpoche was recognized correctly, we must also use the 128 views as a demon-revealing mirror to reflect and capture the true appearance of this rinpoche at any time, to find out whether he or she has gone bad and has even become a swindler or demonic person.

No special karmic condition of a special era is involved in verifying a Bodhisattva. This is analogous to distinguishing gold and rusty copper. In any era, copper is still copper. You should know very clearly that the accomplishment of a Bodhisattva is the accumulation of great compassion and wisdom. The more great compassion and wisdom have been accumulated, the greater the Bodhisattva. Conversely, the less great compassion and wisdom have been accumulated, the smaller the Bodhisattva. One who does not have great compassion and wisdom and is unable to manifest the Five Vidyas is not a great Bodhisattva. If this person claims himself or herself as a holy person, he or she is definitely an ordinary being and an evil master! You all can think over this very simple reason. Can a Bodhisattva’s wisdom and ability be inferior to that of an ordinary person?

Genuine Vajra sands are magnificently holy objects created by practicing the dharma with sands from the Ganges River, and are not common river sands, sea sands or other types of sands. To eliminate disasters one must rely on one’s own conduct of obeying the laws and regulations, sincerely learning Buddhism and cultivating, and benefiting others, and cannot rely on Vajra sands.

None of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples whose photos were printed in the treasure book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III have the ability to practice the dharma to make Vajra sands.

Vajra sands must have the power of penetrating through a stone. The dharma kings, venerable ones, great rinpoches, and great dharma masters did take the examination of applying the realization and power of cultivation to make Vajra sands. However, all scored zero and none had the required realization and power of cultivation. Actually, this is very normal and not embarrassing at all. Vajra sands cannot be created by ordinary Bodhisattvas, not to mention those who are not Bodhisattvas. Those who have the titles of dharma king, venerable one, rinpoche, and dharma master are really, really, really too far away from having the power of cultivation to make Vajra sands. Even Mozhi Rinpoche who is a great holy and virtuous one with two Sun-Moon wheels and Dharma King Gar Tongstan who has realized the nature of emptiness of prajna and is a great accomplished one at the level of two Sun-Moon wheels did not pass the examination and were not able to make Vajra sands. To make Vajra sands, one must be a great holy and virtuous one or an extremely great holy and virtuous one close to the level of four Sun-Moon wheels. It was true that one did make Vajra sands and passed the examination. However, there is no photo of this extremely great holy and virtuous one printed in the treasure book.

Among the disciples who had their photos printed in the treasure book, Dharma King Tangtong Gyalpo, Dharma King Janyang Chingjeng, Dharma King Gar Tongstan, Kaichu Rinpoche, and an anonymous venerable one at the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III are able to hold inner-tantric initiations for cultivators. Other than them, there is no other dharma king, venerable one, rinpoche, or dharma master among H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples whose photos were printed in the treasure book who possesses the power of cultivation to hold inner-tantric initiations. Only holy and virtuous ones at the level of one Sun-Moon wheel or higher possess the realization to hold inner-tantric initiations. Therefore, the initiation held by the master you mentioned for disciples is not inner-tantric initiation, and should be some other type of initiation. Perhaps that is the inner-tantric initiation in Tibetan tantric dharmas that does not have a holy power, which is as different from a true inner-tantric initiation as that between the sky and the ground!

There exist very big distances between H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples whose photos were printed in the treasure book with the statuses of dharma king, venerable one, rinpoche, and dharma master. If we use speed as an analogy, some are like a high-speed airplane flying at 700 kilometers per hour; some are driving an automobile at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour; and some are riding a bicycle going at 30 kilometers per hour.

Among H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciples whose photos were printed in the treasure book, the highest ones are at the levels of three Sun-Moon wheels, two Sun-Moon wheels, and one Sun-Moon wheel. Holy and virtuous ones at the level of one Sun-Moon wheel or higher all possess the power of cultivation to hold inner-tantric initiations. Except them, no other dharma kings or venerable ones can hold inner-tantric initiations. Some of these great holy and virtuous ones already left this world.

The great holy and virtuous one at the level of three Sun-Moon wheels who practiced the dharma of Selection Made in Dark Confinement from One-Hundred Dharmas to Choose the Door toward Enlightenment for Dharma Master Zhengda is not among those who had their photos printed in the treasure book.

Now, many people have Vajra sands. However, the Vajra sands were made by an extremely holy great dharma king who is close to the level of four Sun-Moon wheels from practicing the dharma. The Vajra sands were divided and distributed to the dharma kings, venerable ones, rinpoches, and dharma masters who failed the examination as well as cultivators of the four types on the spot. Not even a cent of offering was taken. If any holy and virtuous one, eminent monk, or great virtuous one whose photo(s) was in the treasure book claims that he has made Vajra sands, this person is definitely an evil master without doubt!!!!  Original question from the letter receivedAccording to what I currently know, some certificates of holiness and virtue issued were based on investigations and examinations by three masters and seven witnesses.

Reply with validationIt sounds like that you are a holy and virtuous one with a certificate issued by three masters and seven witnesses and you wish to get a certificate of holiness and virtue issued by seven masters and ten witnesses to help you propagate Buddha-dharma and benefit living beings. Based on the concern and impediment you mentioned, you will not have a chance to pass this examination proctored by seven masters and ten witnesses. One who can pass this examination knows clearly whether he or she can pass or not. This is because the outcome of this examination is not dependent on luck. Rather, you will be successful if you can do it, and you will fail if you are not able to do it. For example, you know clearly how much weight you can lift. Suppose lifting 500 kilograms means passing the examination, but you can only lift 150 kilograms. Without needing anyone to tell you, you know clearly what the result will be.

Take testing divine forecasting as another example. You should know what will happen in the next ten minutes. You should also know that whether you possess the cultivation and practice to forecast the future with divination at the level of a master’s qualifications of highest holy realization. Now you do not even have confidence in yourself and there is a knot in your mind. This fact shows that you do not possess the realization power to pass the examination proctored by seven masters and ten witnesses. Therefore, it can be concluded that you will not pass, because your cultivation is not solid yet.

Also, it will still be useless regardless of what dharma is taught to you, because teaching you whatever good dharma cannot substitute for your own accomplished realization power in reality. As in the above-mentioned analogy, no matter how you are taught with weight-lifting skills, you can still only lift 150 kilograms. Lifting 500 kilograms is still unimaginable to you. You still have to train and exercise gradually. In the example of divine forecasting, can you predict what will happen in the next ten minutes? Can you state ahead of time how many butterflies and dragonflies or bees and birds will fly onto this tree? If you do not have such abilities, it is impossible to determine your identity by forecasting. This is not something that you can be taught. Such concrete realization can only be achieved by one’s own cultivation and learning Buddhism.

Actually, there does exist the skill of not failing the test and ensuring passing the exam. Now H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III teaches you, “You should listen carefully. You must rely on your own true talent and solid realization power, cultivation and practice. Other than that, no one or no dharma can provide a substitution for that.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III also said, “You had better not possess the ability to take the examination, just like me. I am not going to take the exam since I clearly know that I will not get a certificate of holiness and virtue. However, I will cultivate honestly, rigorously uphold the precepts, and apply the bodhicitta of great compassion to benefit living beings. That should be sufficient for being a good cultivator. If you can truly carry out your cultivation this way, I believe that someday you will become liberated and accomplished.”  Original question from the letter receivedThe purpose of my writing this letter is not to cause a validation of facts from the letter received.

Reply with validationAlthough you did not write your letter to seek validation, for the purpose of benefiting the great masses, we still should reply publicly. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III seriously gave our Office a stipulation, “Whenever any great dharma king, great venerable one, great lama, great rinpoche, great monk, or great layperson deceives the great masses using evil views, does not abide by the precepts, does not practice true Buddha-dharma, causes damage to Buddhism, and engages in evil conduct, regardless of what amazing status of recognition of great holy trump card this person has, the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III must adhere to the important principle of protecting the great masses’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom and interests to let Buddhists be aware of these speeches and conduct of evil views, to prevent them from being defrauded and deceived and to prevent people who do not know about the facts from devolving into dark karmas.

Some people tend to say “this lineage of ours” whenever they have a chance. This is a very terrible statement. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said many times, “I am not transmitting Buddhism and Buddha-dharma independently. You all should know clearly that the Sect of Subordinating to the Buddha is Buddhism, without the sectarian nature of individual factions. The so-called subordinating to the Buddha means belonging to the entirety of Buddhism, which is the Buddhism subordinating to Sakyamuni Buddha. This is not another sect with an independent lineage that I founded from Buddhism.

No one who possesses the mind practice of great compassion and bodhicitta will take the trouble of ruining the undertakings of propagating Buddha-dharma and benefiting living beings. Moreover, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is truly selflessly benefiting the great masses and has a boundless mind of compassion. The vow of His Holiness the Buddha is to add splendor to Buddhism day by day and to wish everyone in the world as well as living beings in the three spheres and the six realms all breaking away from suffering, acquiring happiness, and attaining perfect good fortune and wisdom. That is why His Holiness the Buddha stated the vow, “I will bear all negative karmas and sins of living beings, I will give all my good karmas and merit to you.” This vow of aspiration is the brightest, the most selfless, the grandest, and the most broadly inclusive vow in the entire universe. How could H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III not care about the propagation and growth of the Sect of Buddha’s Subordinates (Buddhism) as you said? This is because H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III never considers His own interests and only cares about whether a matter belongs to the correct knowledge and views or not and whether its purpose is to benefit living beings or not. Even when a prominent figure who is an important pillar to Buddhism commits damages to the interests of the great masses, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III will not give up protecting the interests of the great masses to protect this evil master. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III stated long ago in the recorded dharma lessons: Even if after He expelled all masters of evil views and nobody is left, He will still protect living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom from being killed by evil masters’ poisonous harm and obstruction!

It is because of this consideration that a website that is open to the public and manifests unselfish enlightenment like that of the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III cannot be found in any other sect. This Office absolutely will not adapt what you suggested in your letter to learn from any independent faction’s ways of doing things. It is even more impossible for this Office to learn from some sects. For their own interests, they just want to be nice to each other and do not criticize publicly speeches and conduct of evil views. When evil masters harm living beings, they pretend they do not see without worrying that the great masses are misled to wrong paths.

However, our Office does not wish to see any master fail and only hopes to see them become accomplished and liberated and enlighten others. The problem is that some of these masters do not correct their faults, do not repent their sins, and continue the bad conduct to harm their disciples. Therefore, in order to protect cultivators, we must remind you all to pay attention to distinguish. We cannot provide cover-up for masters who have evil views and impure conduct.

Just as you said, listening to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is a very good thing that benefits living beings the most. However, some masters acted very rampantly. They privately duplicate CDs of recorded dharma lessons and alter the contents of the recorded dharma lessons. Some of them even pretend to know what they actually do not know. Though not having any proficiency in the sutras, they can proudly hang the document of recognition as a reincarnation of the earlier generation and imposingly sit on the dharma rostrum to fake being a holy one to deceive people. They carelessly give discourses of Buddha-dharma that are filled with evil views everywhere. All they can say are amateur’s statements and nonsenses that are completely unrelated to the subject. They do not care what harms they brought to living beings. They even do not allow their disciples to listen to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Their speeches and conduct are extremely ferocious! Additionally, due to their not understanding the sutras, beginners are kept in the dark and mistakenly think they have met a superior person with a legitimate status. Those who were deluded are very piteous.

It is this Office’s opinion that, suppose Sakyamuni Buddha were in the world now, He certainly would also inform you all about how to distinguish evil masters and swindlers. Could this be untrue? How could H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III abandon living beings for the sake of developing His subordinates? You said it well that letting people listen to the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III can truly benefit living beings. This is because H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is really striving to benefit living beings with holy purity and unselfishness! If there were even a little bit of selfishness, then His Holiness the Buddha would act like what you suggested to appoint a large number of masters and personally recognize rinpoches, instead of not recognizing even one rinpoche during all these years. Under such a scenario, all people who praise H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III would be protected regardless of whether they are good people or bad people. No consideration will be given to living beings’ wellbeing. The only goal is to let the subordinating masters develop their own bases. All will be praised as meritorious even if there are false rinpoches and false dharma masters. Then the website (of the Office) will never have anything that seriously criticizes demonic sprints, swindlers, and evil masters and hurts our own support base. If this were the situation, can you imagine what kind of growth it would have?

However, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s structure is a Buddha who considers living beings’ opportunities of acquiring wisdom as the most important. That is why His Holiness the Buddha benefits the great masses as a volunteer, never accepts offerings from His disciples and cultivators, and thus became the most holy and pure extremely great holy one in the entire world who sets the sole example of not accepting offerings throughout history. There is no second person on Earth who has such conduct! His Holiness the Buddha never considers His own interests. Sometimes, He spent more than ten hours continuously to receive cultivators and often ate His lunch as late as 8-9pm in the evening. Sometimes, He would receive His disciples until 1-2am after midnight and would always return home empty-handed without accepting anything.

His Holiness the Buddha not only does not accept any offerings, but also repeatedly sets up ironclad rules in writing to prohibit anyone to accept offerings on His behalf. Often, people put money onto the dharma rostrum in front of Him. He would say, “Do not contaminate me. I already made the vow of not accepting offerings.” He would even say, “You take the money and things back right away. If you do not listen, after you put your offerings here, I will leave immediately and will not expound any dharma to you.” For fearing the Buddha Master’s leaving, people had no other choice and had to take their money back.

For instance, there was a time when many people came and presented their offerings, which became a big pile. As usual, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III strictly rejected the offerings. Later, Hengsheng Rinpoche wrapped up these gifts and red envelopes in another room and brought them to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in the evening. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III very angrily reprimanded him. The next day, all cultivators who had made offerings were called back. His Holiness the Buddha again seriously criticized their act of not listening. All offerings were brought back to return. Because Hengsheng Rinpoche put things loosely when putting them into his vehicle, offerings from different people got all mixed up. It was really hard to verify. In the end, it took more than a half day to have all things correctly returned to everyone.

This is just one of very, very many examples. In recent years, Gongga Zunba and his wife offered more than 100 million yuans. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III still did not accept any. You all can read this story at IBSA’s website.

Our Office asked many times for permission to publish the great true stories of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III on our website. However, every time we met with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s strict refusal and criticism. As a result, our Office’s website has different formats and contents from the website of any dharma king, rinpoche, or dharma master. Only speeches and conduct to benefit living beings can be seen there, and there is no information about any of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s accomplishments or awards, medals, holy objects or other splendid deeds of His Holiness the Buddha. That is how our Office’s website became the only website of Buddhism in the entire world that only provides help and benefits to the great masses without any self-propaganda. This is because H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is the only extremely holy one of Buddhism who truly benefits others without any selfishness! The Buddha name of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is an unalterable highest standard. It was decided by the recognitions and corroborating recognitions from the leaders, regent dharma kings, and great rinpoches of all major sects of Buddhism, and moreover was decided by the law of the government. In particular, He manifests as a Buddha with perfect proficiency in both exoteric and esoteric Buddhism, complete accomplishments in the Five Vidyas, realization of holiness and virtue, and selflessly benefiting others!!!

Only His Holiness the Buddha does not speak anything false, speaks upright words, speaks directly on the matter, and states the truth. The dharma of the 128 views was expounded for you all to distinguish what is correct and what is evil. However, many of you still do not uphold the dharma in your conduct even after listening to the dharma many times and consequently remain ignorant and deluded and are not able to wake up. We at the Office really feel sad for you. Now we once again tell you: As long as you use the 128 views to check all people, you will know what is correct and what is evil. Additionally, by reading this Office’s public announcements and validations of facts from letters received and respectfully listening to the recorded dharma lessons, you can completely correct your knowledge and views and unimpededly advance on the path toward enlightenment. As a result, you will attain perfect good fortune and eventually accomplishment and liberation!
